Apparently one of them is very happy at LSUI would say maybe 10% chance. If it was 3 years from now 50/50. It’s not spin to say Lane and his kids are happy in Oxford.

These opportunities won’t be there 3 years from now. And even if one of them is, maybe Lanes not the hot target then like he is now. You don’t get to pick and choose when these opportunities come. You take advantage of them when they do. Or you don't. But if you don’t you may not get the chance again.I would say maybe 10% chance. If it was 3 years from now 50/50. Well, Gainesville isn't really Florida. It's part of the interior state that is surrounded by florida.North Mississippi.....Florida.....North Mississippi.....Floridahmmmm
This is probably all Oxford psy-ops anyway. If it's one thing they are good at, it's selling their product. They are gonna reach into stupid depths of their pockets to keep Kiffin and when he doesn't take some of these "bigger" jobs it'll be because "Oxford is so awesome."
Depends on how you look at it. Gainesville is one of the few places that is still mostly Florida. The parts of Florida that people think about when you say Florida are mostly Cuba, Dominican Republic, New Jersey, New York, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and some other undesirable locations.Well, Gainesville isn't really Florida. You’re saying Oxford schools are worse than Starkville city? And, through the magic of stupidity, Memphis is farther away than…Birmingham? That’s not even close to being true
Eventually the dude is gonna get priced out. They can’t compete with the big boys in football forever.I’m hearing 13 mil a year plus incentives for Kiff to stay in Oxford.
Hello, dipshit. It’s 2025. I get your reference although I have no relation. Assuming the woke/cancel culture is gone, I think today’s answer is 17 yourself.Okay, sport. Let’s get this out in the open.
What is the current percentage of AA coaches in D1??****
That was ~2001. Still bitter?A new Walmart caused a growth spurt? That should tell you something about the town.
A simple 19.83% would’ve sufficed, you freaking homo. Just saying,Hello, dipshit. It’s 2025. I get your reference although I have no relation. Assuming the woke/cancel culture is gone, I think today’s answer is 17 yourself.
God bless America. Timber is en pointe. When was the last time you were in Starkville?
If your wife was in Starkville between 1998 and 2002, there’s a 19.83% chance your firstborn is mine.A simple 19.83% would’ve sufficed, you freaking homo. Just saying,
You won’t be making it to sophomore, twinkle toes. Enjoy it while it lasts, I guess. If your wife was in Starkville between 1998 and 2002, there’s a 19.83% chance your firstborn is mine.
I would argue that Auburn is the worst. No real history of relevancy (other than a rented mule QB), but they still act like they’re something special.Agree with others. LSU is a much better job. The whole sec is narcissistic/entitled, but Florida may be one of the worst. I would pick LSU 100 out of 100
ETA-Gainesville is not a great town
How the hėll do we have so many UMiss fans on this board now? I guess that’s the price you pay for DS getting his flatscreens from on3.I’m hearing 13 mil a year plus incentives for Kiff to stay in Oxford.
Aaaaannndddd there’s another one…..Hello, dipshit. It’s 2025. I get your reference although I have no relation. Assuming the woke/cancel culture is gone, I think today’s answer is 17 yourself.
If it comes down to a strict bidding war, Mississippi can’t win. They’ve got money. But they don’t have Florida, LSU or Penn State money. Or Texas or FSU money.I’m hearing 13 mil a year plus incentives for Kiff to stay in Oxford.
They have desperation though. I think they will match any salary UF is willing to pay. But they can’t match what Florida is willing to pay in salary and their NIL budget. If it comes down to a strict bidding war, Mississippi can’t win. They’ve got money. The direction always takes an unforeseen turn. Never fails! He would be a fool to leave Oxford for Gainesville with the direction Ole Miss is headed. But he does have a history of happy feet.
It’s not really any of the modern era of Oxford that is ahead of Starkville, as both look about the same in that aspect. What a lot of people are looking at are historical settings that are more prominent in Oxford, than in Starkville.Couple of weeks ago and not just in and out for a game. Lived near enough to both towns for 35 years to spend a lot of time in both. Wife worked in both towns. If I moved tomorrow I’d move to Starkville simply because of the University but it’s not as nice of a town as Oxford. It’s gaining ground but it’s not there yet.
why is everyone so sure that Penn State is a top job that can compete for NC's? Their last title was in 1986, a decade before the BCS. They've never played in a national-championship labeled gameThe ceiling at Ole Miss is a first round playoff exit. The ceiling at Florida (or LSU or even Penn State) is a national championship.
I don't think state income tax is going to be a factor in the decision. It will all come down to what Kiffin wants to do and where he wants to coach and live. Unless Florida just comes in with an offer that's insanely higher than what Mississippi will pay to keep him. If you're making career decisions based on state income taxes, you're basing your decision on the wrong things.i'm curious how high florida is willing to go as far as salary. They can pretty safely give him a long term contract as he has proven himself and florida is a blue blood; the chances of him flaming out there is pretty low. You also have to factor in the no state tax in florida; 5 years of no income tax on 14 million per year is a pretty good trust fund for each kid.
You're probably talking about $400k+ a year difference. I think it's going to come into play for sure. If Florida offers him $10M, that's in reality a ~$1.36M annual pay raise and Ole Miss needs to come to north of $10.4M just to match.I don't think state income tax is going to be a factor in the decision. 4% is nothing compared to where you want to live & where you want to coach. You're probably talking about $400k+ a year difference. I think it's going to come into play for sure. Even for people making more pedestrian amounts, 4% is a big deal. If you are saving 20% of your gross, another 4% is increasing your annual savings by 20%. Over your career, that could reduce the time you need to work to retire by 5 years. In reality you will probably pay some of that by paying other taxes at a higher rate, but once you get to a couple of hundred in income, I suspect you start coming out comfortably ahead.
True. But if you already make $9M or $10M, how do you spend all that money, even after taxes? Your house can only get so big, and you can only buy so many Lamborghinis. At some point, it's nothing but bragging rights.4% is nothing compared to where you want to live & where you want to coach.

The same. What do you consider MSU's ceiling to be? Just curious.
It's certainly not insurmountable and definitely not worth making yourself miserable over. It's definitely not nothing though, particularly when you are talking about two good jobs. And when 4% is $400k, that alone might justify changing between two otherwise equal jobs. Of course in this case is basically familiarity and comfort but lower ceiling versus better job and the hassle of changing and higher expectations. Most coaches are taking the second option before you throw another $400k a year at them.4% is nothing compared to where you want to live & where you want to coach.
Private jet or even turbo prop is the big one. That is a huge difference in lifestyle and the annual cost of the plane, fuel, crew, storage, insurance, p&I etc. takes a huge nest egg if you aren't paying for it out of a business.True. The same.
Florida admin says they want a thorough vetting but want to know who the next coach will be as soon as possible. asap could mean November 30 or it could mean a hush hush acknowledgement amongst powers that be well before that. The latter is a whole lot of very hard to keep secret!Lane's agent is going to see what OM, FL, maybe LSU, and the pros offer/do, so I'd expect talk to linger on this til after the season
OUCH! that is a harsh comment/indictment of those coaches. Like strong back handed slap........................... it’s gotta be frustrating knowing you’re good enough to be a national championship coach, but never will be while Gene Chizik, Ed Orgeron, Les Miles, and Jimbo Fisher are walking around with championship rings.
Miami, you just described Miami.Depends on how you look at it. Gainesville is one of the few places that is still mostly Florida.
