The Ya Boy thread reminded me of how bad we suck, because I couldn't name 10% of our players. Just 4-5 years ago I could name almost every player on at least the 2-deep. What's our guesses on depth chart going into season? Reviewing our roster, I tried to make at attempt, but failed miserably.

Shapen and Booth are the only 2 names I can give off the top of my head.

The revolving player door in college has ruined it. Don't care if they get paid but bring back rules on transferring. NFL doesn't have unlimited free agency like what college has now.

It doesn’t matter. Let them leave if they want to. Mississippi State has established itself over many many decades as clear path to get better and make it to the nfl.

Bingo. That Ya Boy thread is some kind of depressing.

Maybe I should rephrase:

Someone please fill us in on which of these guys I've never heard of *may* actually be decent players? Do we have any players to at least be a little cautiously optimistic about? The only one I'm aware of is Fluff.

Sleepers with nothing to lose and everything to gain. Heck, we might have a good year.

I think Red Hibbler from NC State will be a decent DE. The LB from Tennessee will probably help us. Brennon Thompson from OK will probably be our best receiver, but not as good as Coleman. There's an OL from Virginia who started there (not sure what that means though since UVA sucked about as bad as we did). I think Fluff will be a backup and mostly a disappointment.

Add Trevion at DE and Jalen Smith at LB. Rough idea. Idk

Ourlads.com depth chart mirrors pretty close to what i expect. In Luke Work's interview he said he'd mainly been working at guard so maybe have him at LG and the two tackles being Steen (UVA transfer) and Jimothy. Rest of this is about what I expect week 1

Our defense is going to get gashed repeatedly playing that 2-2 alignment with only 9 players total.
Its not very accurate but since 90% of the folks on this site can't name over 2 players it might be helpful to show what can be found via the Google machine.

True. But I doubt many of us even care to know most of their names. Do I really need to know who the mediocre OL transfer we signed who will be gone by January is? I'm going to just go Jackie Sherrill here and call the players by their number. Man, that #75 is better (or worse) than last year. Well, yeah, they're two completely different players.

Our OL will be vastly improved if we have 2 tackles that can play ahead of Luke Work which will allow us to move him to guard. Luke performed admirably at LT in an emergency situation last year. He will be a better player for the experience.

Luke Work, Jimothy Lewis, Koby Keenum, Zack Owens, Blake Steen, Jacoby Jackson, & Albert Reese should all be better than serviceable Offensive Lineman. Cannon Boone has played in the SEC and Joakwon Bouldinn got some playing time at Purdue. Mayberry played a lot at Stanford & Miles was a highly rated JUCO. It appears that we have some bodies that could contribute.

I agree with this. If you look at all the pieces individually it's hard to imagine not being able to find 5 that can get it done. Maybe 7. I think replacing the OL coach was a good move. Loadholt seems to be improving the situation
