I'll say this again, but some of you are buying in way to much to what your confederate friends say.

Kiffin would absolutely leave ole miss. Much of this image rehab he's been doing the last two years has been for just that purpose. He's showing the bigger programs he's settled down, he's not drinking, Layla is back in the picture, etc. It all has a purpose, and it is not for the betterment of UMiss.

Any college coach who isn't nearing retirement will leave for a better job. I am not saying Kiffin will leave this year.
Exactly. He’s eventually going to leave. No idea when that will be but it’s gonna happen. The quality of college jobs that are open are hard to ignore. And I do think he will get NFL looks.

As a dolphins fan, I don’t hate the idea of him being the head coach there.

It would be silly to leave there, if you could stand to be there in the first place. He can get a big raise this year, and not have to win it all.

Especially crazy considering that Keith Carter came out right after and publicly said he wanted to do the same thing with Kiffin, and it hasn't happened yet.
Carter has been a good AD for them, but if he said that, that was really stupid. He had to know there was at least a good chance Kiffin was going to at least play this out. Announce it when you've done it. Don't say what you're going to do when you don't know if you can back it up. See John Cohen and the baseball coaching hire after we fired Cannizaro.

I wish we were in the same boat as them. 2 New Year Six games, averaging over 9 wins per season, and a chance at the playoffs. I'd take losing the coach for that. Instead, we're in year 3 after our coach dies and an interim who drove a potential 9 win team into the ground. They're the equivalent to a Cat 5 hurricane, and we're Tropical Sh#$storm Larry.

He’d probably only leave for a top 5 college job, LSU was a top 5 job prior to the governor’s crazy rant. If i was an OM fan, i’d be most worried about him leaving for the Giants.

It seems they're becoming convinced - 5 of the top 8 posts are discussing Kiffin leaving or bitching about people discussing Kiffin leaving.

Including one debating on who should be the Interim HC for the Playoffs :ROFLMAO:

When he does leave, the amount of ascots thrown in anger will be glorious.

Like most things, the reality lies somewhere in the middle. Ole Miss is not a bad job and they will be willing to pay him more to stay, so it is not a foregone conclusion that he leaves (despite what some on here think). At the same time, there are numerous current job openings (with more to come) at schools that are better jobs than Ole Miss (despite what some folks in Powder Blue think), so there is a good chance he leaves as well if he can convice a school to pay him big. But is Lane Kiffin really worth a 10 year / $150 million type contract? I don't know if anyone not named Nick Saban is worth that kind of scratch.

Serious here - If he leaves, the gentleman's thing to do is to get them through the playoffs, assuming they go (theoretically, they could lose to both us and Florida and miss out). I know it's OM, but he shouldn't just leave them high and dry (although Mullen did ....). Then he should take the Florida job. Penn State's too cold, and Baton Rouge is just not a nice place.

I hope he misses the playoffs and leaves. If not, gets them in the playoffs & leaves after the regular season. If not leaves after they are eliminated. Really just 17ing leave.

They will make the playoffs but won’t go far, he’s gone after the season.

Option A: Get a big raise and stay there with little to no drive to win a title (consistently).
Option B: Get a big raise and go somewhere wtih a legit shot at a title (consistently).

Maybe I'm naive but I think Lane (and most coaches) are hungry and driven enough to want the title. I'm sure there are some that are perfectly content being fat dumb and happy winning 8-9 games and having their balls suckled for it, but the upper echelon of coaches want titles. Lane surely isn't deluded enough to think that he can make OM a perinnial contender in the current CFB climate.

Speaking of easy schedules, it’s ridiculous the cupcake Schedules Missouri and Drinkowitz have been given the last several seasons. I’m not impressed with anything they’ve done because 90% of it is just the easiest schedule every year. If Drinkowitz played the Arkansas or the schedule we play he’d fall out of favor really quickly.

You have to give it to them. They can be in absolute shambles between themselves, but put on the calmest face with so much confidence to anyone on the outside. And they do it like they practice at it. They are the absolute best at that. I give them that.

it’s like a party where there is fist fighting, screaming, and drunks passed out inside, but when the cops show up outside they turn down the music and send out a few to act appalled that anyone would call the cops over a simple neighborhood BBQ.
