I mean i understand why we have an attendance problem, BUT to pretend that faculty selling their tickets hasn't been a problem is stupidity or just straight lying.
Yo homes ...it isn' that the faculty is selling their tickets, it's the fact that many did not renew their seats this year ..there were only 37,000 season tickets sold ... even today, there are seats available in every section for the remaining three games through the ticket office .... there were 11,000 tickets sold through the ticket office to anyone who presented a credit card.... so yes there were a few thousand tickets sold On the secondary markets but the vast majority were sold. Seriously dude it was a joke. CNN and the bunch reliably report the news without any bias!!

FACT: Faculty section has been notorious for always having tons of visitor fans mixed in amongst the faculty. Purely coincidence i'm sure.
Sigh.

All cable news networks suck. I wasn’t attacking Fox News. But seriously, who gives a **** if I was?

I literally meant what I said about the faculty. I can’t go to state games so I have no idea if they are an issue. From what I see on Sixpack it seems they are.

The west side and endzone were 95 percent State fans. Yes that side was worse but it’s being blown out of proportion. Hell they weren’t even that loud at the game.

I don’t know how we can say it’s being blown out of proportion with the images being what they are. It’s a terrible look for us. Sure you’re always going to have some visitor fans in the building. But it can’t be a huge potion of one side of your stadium.

And sadly some damage is likely already done with Texas and Georgia games too. The good news is we have time for our fans to buy up what’s remaining on those. Will they do it? I hope so.

It's also not a great idea to have a white out that makes the opposing team's fans stand out even more.
Yeah, the moment I turned on my TV on realized it was a bad idea playing LSU or ole miss? Fine. Playing Tennessee? Not so much

Man no one showed up to games the year Leach went 8-4. I remember the Arkansas game that season, we were ranked, just beat a&m the week before, weather was perfect, and there were 10k empty seats. Its excuses. Our problem is deeper than what you’re saying
But remember, that year, “our offense was too boring” and nobody wanted to come to the games because of that. There’s always an excuse for some people.

I've always heard that they either got them free or a lot cheaper than the public. If that's not true then un-17-em.
They do get a discount but it’s definitely not free.

Previously the discount was a lot more but sounds like that discount has shrunk.

Well in their defense, the offense was pretty tough to watch under Leach. But still, I am being told no one bought tickets because we weren’t good last year. Well, no one showed up when we were a bowl team, either

This year, F/S paid almost 70% for section 21 what the seats cost in section 20 (the equivalent mirror section to the north).

That includes season ticket price and seat contribution. That is also only for the first 2 tickets. Any additional tickets were full price.

A lot of people stopped coming circa 2019 and 2020 due to the decline under Moorhead and then COVID hitting, and we never got many of them back.

I can speak from personal experience in my own inner circle on that.

The faculty get their tickets free. They should have a separate gate(s) that they have to go through and have their faculty badge scanned with their ticket to get into the game. 17-em if they don't like it.
Hell no they ain’t free, my wife has a second job that is paid by MSU , we’ve had season tickets every since the Croom era
We get a slight discount but we still pay our bc fees like always and pay full price for 4 other tickets in section 22
The problem is we have not sold out season tickets and they are available to buy from the ticket office for anyone to buy

We’ve had an attendance problem since the East side expansion. The North End zone (which was badly needed just exacerbated it.). We even had an attendance problem under Mullen. Things were clicking then, so the problem was masked a bit.

the advantage most other programs have is a deep bench of local fans. Heck, many schools have way more students than student tickets, so they have a lottery of sorts. They literally have thousands of tickets ready to be picked up by students as soon asthey become available. Furthermore, it’s much easier to fill a 100k seat stadium when you have over 500k people living within an hour of the stadium plus 30k students. We have 62k seats with what 90k people within an hour and 20k students. These aren’t excuses, this is data.

Lastly, Ole Miss has also had attendance issues in the past. They’ve had a lot of continued success recently and overcome many of those, but they haven’t been immune to empty seats.

Past doesn't matter because this year is different. Faculty prices went up! I dropped half of my season tickets because of it. FYI, next year the 2026 ticket price for faculty in section 21 will be raised to $610 including BC donation. Non-faculty seats next door, in section 20, will be $700. (Did you see how much orange there was in section 20?) So, our employee discount NOW is only $90. Do you hate the faculty so much that you want to take that too?

Question about this: how does faculty seating get ranked? First come- first served or do they go by BDC ranking?

Hey buddy go 17 yourself.

You think you have all the answers and know how everyone thinks, well you don’t so go 17 yourself you ignorant 17.
Truth hurts, don’t it.

Anyways, I mean we don’t have to move the program forward. Just keep on doing what we’ve done. OR….our fans have to go above and beyond. If we don’t, well we won’t. And we will be here making excuses like you do. And I’m not saying your excuses aren’t valid - but that’s exactly what they are - excuses.

Not sure of the details. But I believe it's BC rank. When I was hired 19 years ago I got put on a waiting list to buy faculty tickets. I started regular donations before I could even get basketball season tickets at all. I've always bought season tickets to all men's and women's sports, so my BC rank is good now. Living in Starkville, we go to lots of different games. But, if I can't go I try to give the tickets to friends. I've only put my football tickets on the market once, for one game, and my wife gave me hell! So, that's not happening again. Yeah, I'm not happy about loosing the job perk. Feels disrespectful to the MSU employees who have done the right thing all these years.

There’s reasons for poor attendance. If you want to label them as excuses then be my guest but they are valid reasons. It happens in college sports and pro sports. If you aren’t putting a product on the field worth a damn people will lose interest and you have to reel them back in. And it’s not overnight.

My wife and I are both faculty, so we each purchased two tickets and brought our family. No, we don't have to show an ID. Yes, I would have preferred that as a solution. Instead, we've cut back to two season tickets because of the increased cost. Now we just buy extra tickets on the open market when we want to bring family.

You nailed it with all this.

Which is why I say State needs to ... renovate more portions of that stadium with nice amenities to get people coming back. Also chairback all the lower level, west upper and renovation the SEZ to something similar to the balconies to reduce seating.

We need a 50k stadium, tops.

A model I’d like to see is one that gives a good discount to faculty with the tickets having two last names (for flexibility) associated with said tickets. The tickets require an ID (DL or faculty) matching the two last names on the tix. If the faculty ticket holder can’t make the game then they can give them back to the University (for a credit) to be sold to other faculty. Last resort is that they are sold at Will Call.

I believe faculty should get good discounts for tix, but they should be expected to show some proof at the gate since they’ll be getting tickets at below cost. I’m assuming Students do this now.

Enough with the faculty selling their tickets crap. We only have 3000 faculty. So if every faculty member was allowed to buy a pair of season tickets, which they aren’t, you’re telling me all 6000 tickets were sold to UT fans?

in actuality we only have about 1500 faculty tickets stadium wide, which is about 1/2 of a lower section. The actual problem is we had the lowest season ticket sales since the 2014 expansion. We have a small fanbase, in a very small market that had an incredible amount of apathy surrounding the program leading up to the season. We also have a problem with young alumni. The young graduates aren’t buying tickets at the rate that same demographic was 10-15 years ago, which in turn is shrinking our ticket sales because that age group doesn’t have kids and for the most part has disposable income that can be spent on entertainment. We have a problem on our hands and I promise you they’re trying to figure it out.

You aren’t wrong and I don’t disagree. But if you want us to take a step forward, we can’t do like everybody else. Else it will just fall back to the typical factors - we are a small fanbase, we don’t have money, etc.

That can a number of things. Niche offense, fans creating a positive culture, whatever. @retire the banner and me disagree on how to do it, but we agree that it must be done.

My daughter is on the faculty. We have our tickets in section 19. She is with me because faculty tickets aren’t free. The get a 10% discount. At least that’s what they offered her. Also she has a purchased faculty parking pass that can’t be used on game day. Lol!

No need to put charbacks throughout. Other stadiums don’t have them. I would think closing in the sez with chairbacks would be awesome, and offer season ticket holders. But, we shouldn’t lower the capacity…we’re already the smallest stadium in the SEC. We need to be putting visitors in those upper decks, and leave the lower levels for our fans.

40k State fans in attendance that game. No nearly enough
So, once we started 4-0, another 5-10,000 State fans should have done what? Held that same number of Tennessee fans at gunpoint and just taken their tickets they bought 6 months ago? What’s the alternative?

Meanwhile, over here in reality, there were 1,500 tickets available during the week of the game….most in the nosebleeds. All were sold…..Most sold to MSU fans. Beyond that, there was no option to just magically shít out thousands of additional MSU fans into the seats of DWS last Saturday, even if there were literally 10 million lined up that wanted to come. The die was cast for the Tennessee game and the majority of games this season around 8-9 months ago.
