For the NBA as a whole, being top heavy might be a good thing, and parity a bad one... Having teams at the top year after year, especially teams with history like the Lakers, Celtics, etc makes those teams and players recognizable worldwide and can draw more fringe fans in. <div>
</div><div>Tennis is more popular and gets better ratings if its stars make the semis and finals (Serena, Venus, Federer and Nadal as opposed to players no one knows)... The same thing goes for golf, if Tiger, Phil, and some of the games household names are in contention on Sunday, lots more people will tune in that aren't die hard golf fans.</div><div>
</div><div>It may be bad for the small market teams, but at least they'll fill up their arenas when the star studded teams come to town.</div>
