You didn't answer my question.
Regardless, again, since time immemorial people have been trying to get more than they "deserve/earned" and get away with things they aren't allowed to do. And, yes, power, influence and money allow folks to do that more easily and more often ... but it definitely isn't limited to those folks. And re this particular country, there's always been corruption and influence at play. Powerful business people influencing government, doing "bad things," etc. I'm actually not a fan of the 2-party system, but it's not like that's some magic elixir to cure those ails. We just need those interested in doing things the right way to hold those who don't accountable. We CERTAINLY don't need people saying "oh, this guy is a bad person, but I like his policies, so I'll vote for him." That's feeding the monster. We need good people with policies we like.
I’m not interested in any person or party whose job isn’t to fulfill what benefits the country. However, that can mean some activities at some time that are nefarious. That’s totally understandable but it cannot be standard operating procedure.
There is a line that sits in everyone’s mind on when someone or something has gone too far. Take Dabo as an example. In his mind, it was far more important to be principaled and stick to the traditional business of college football. That’s fine if it generally bears the fruit for the program and the university. Even he has eventually relented and tossed his own traditional thinking That he can no longer operate that way to serve.
This is the same logical thinking that I’m applying. We had a balanced federal budget in the year 2000. In 25 years we’ve succumbed to a federal deficit in excess of $38 trillion. We cant operate that way and the two groups in charge are nowhere closer to setting a resolution that keeps us to solvency. If you were operating that way with no discernible path, then you actually aren’t in charge and you are serving a small faction of leaders and that’s why they’re cabals.
If we ran another 10 years of Dabo grabbing one graduate player per year out of the portal you would say he’s insane or he’s got a vested interest beyond serving the best interest of the Clemson football program. He would rightfully be accused of not serving the extended Clemson family by doing the basics that 130 other programs are doing that’s required and we pack his bags.
Sure he’s serving the hearts and minds of 100 scholarship football players while enrollment drops, IPTAY donations crash, local businesses are closing down.
Dabo doesn’t have one or two bosses. He’s got about 2 million bosses and he best serve the majority to stay in his role while he executes in the manner he prefers. That’s OK, but you better deliver. The federal government in its construct is incapable of doing that. It’s extremely hard to fire these people if the electorate isn’t willing to be honest of what’s taking place in front of them. They are bought and paid for by a very small group of people with a **** ton of money robbing the People blind.
