To my knowledge these two teams have never played before, so we welcome THE PANTHERS to JOHN GAMBLE STADIUM this Friday nite , coming off a DISAPPOINTING LOSE to CREST last week i am sure THE VERY YOUNG MOUNTIES will be ready to play.
KM is a young team only 5 or 6 senior starters, they run a spread offensive run the ball more than pass it. Our defense is on the small side but has good overall speed, We have a very good kicker, our fan support is great.Wish we could provide you more of a test than we will. Even at full strength this would be a huge challenge, unfortunately the injury bug has bitten the Panthers quite hard. One thing for sure is we’ll play hard & not roll over. That being said….this will be a glorified scrimmage for KM (yes I’m a realist). Let us Panther fans know about KM & we will do likewise during the week.
The Bears played KM at KM several years ago ,they were number 2 in 3A ,we were not even ranked. We won ,so it's not impossible .Good luck to the Panthers.Wish we could provide you more of a test than we will. Hope you don't plan on listening on the radio unless you wanna listen to the most obnoxious KM announcers you ever heardWish we could provide you more of a test than we will. Franklin is more balanced than past years. QB can throw pretty well. He will take off on a run if it presents itself. We have one pretty good receiver. A couple RB’s, our lines are smaller than usual though. If your D is on the small side I would expect our game plan to be be ground & pound with the hope of shortening the game. The backside of our D is marginal at best. We are susceptible to the passing game. One thing out of the ordinary for a Panthers team is we have had a rash of untimely penalties this year. Losses to Tuscola by 4, Pisgah by 4, West Henderson by 6 in OT could have gone either way. The Smoky Mountain game was 23-21 going to the 4th & they just wore us down. Just don’t feel like this is a good matchup for us, regardless of the score KM will wake up Saturday morning & know they played a game Friday night!KM is a young team only 5 or 6 senior starters, they run a spread offensive run the ball more pass it. Actually Biltmore this matchup reminds me a lot of when Burns came up to Franklin in 2011. Franklin just didn't have an answer for the speed Burns had. I think that may be the issue this Friday as well.Franklin is more balanced than past years. QB can throw pretty well. He will take off on a run if it presents itself. Correct bro.....Your ears will be bleeding in less than 5 minutes. I would say Mountie Pride is one of them .Hope you don't plan on listening on the radio unless you wanna listen to the most obnoxious KM announcers you ever heard![]()
It was freaking awesome.Burns was the faster team that night but that’s not why we lost that game, in my opinion anyway. They beat us at our own game and out muscled us up front on both sides of the ball.
edit to add: The game thread the week before that game is still the greatest one ever on Preps!!!
LAWNDOG12 is just UPSET because his MIGHTY BURNS BULLDOGS can not seem to be able to beat THE VERY YOUNG MOUNTIES ANYMORE.Correct bro.....Your ears will be bleeding in less than 5 minutes. I would say Mountie Pride is one of them .
You do realize “several years ago” was actually 1996 lol.The Bears played KM at KM several years ago ,they were number 2 in 3A ,we were not even ranked. We won ,so it's not impossible .Good luck to the Panthers.
You are correct ....2016 was a long time ago.LAWNDOG12 is just UPSET because his MIGHTY BURNS BULLDOGS can not seem to be able to beat THE VERY YOUNG MOUNTIES ANYMORE.
For me, that was one of the coldest football games I've been a part of. And yes, that entire week on the message boards was fantastic. I enjoyed every bit of it.Burns was the faster team that night but that’s not why we lost that game, in my opinion anyway. Had us in an open press box behind the stands in what looked like a singlewide on stilts. lol Fun trip up the mountain for sure. On the bus as the team came down the hill there was a firetruck with a Franklin flag welcoming us to the Panther Pit. Had a pregame walk through at Smoky Mountain. A woman in the stands look back behind her at the visitor locker room and told me "hate to tell you boys but you are going down tonight!" I smiled at the lady and said "Maam no offense, but I don't think you have a clue what just came up that mountain." An hour later here comes the players out of the locker room with no sleeves or any cover from the cold. She looked terrified. Ramsey broke free and they were in shock at his speed. They ran the option pitch and Travond Ross demolished the RB as soon as he got the pitch. They did get us on a trick play ran to perfection. Incredible atmosphere! For me, that was one of the coldest football games I've been a part of. And yes, that entire week on the message boards was fantastic. I enjoyed every bit of it.
Lol….I don’t think the kids or any real fans were shocked at your team speed. I as well as others were surprised at how well your lines played. The game was never in real doubt for the boys from Lawndale, it wasn’t a rout either though. It was a magical atmosphere at the Pit that night. I remember the stadium playing music before the game related to the game thread & posters from both sides running into each other at the Huddle House. From the smack, banter, game, and postgame I’ve always had respect for the Burns crew on Preps. Anyway back to KM, it wouldn’t surprise me to see a running clock at some point Friday night but we’ll still lace em up and play every down!Had us in an open press box behind the stands in what looked like a singlewide on stilts. lol Fun trip up the mountain for sure. We took a ride up for that game. It was a great atmosphere. I don't remember what was said on that preps thread but I do remember it fired up Brandon and Co.Lol….I don’t think the kids or any real fans were shocked at your team speed. Respect is mutual man. Y’all had it rocking that night. Would love to go back and watch a game.Lol….I don’t think the kids or any real fans were shocked at your team speed. We have an average power running game. We are smaller than normal up front. Our ability to run, make first downs, & burn clock will be our hope. Our passing game is better than usual but we haven’t really seen any speed all year so I’m concerned it will be negated. Honestly I’d be surprised if this is a close contest.Kings Mountain is missing that big linebacker. He’s a difference maker. Their defense is on the small side but they get to the ball well.
If you have a good power running game they don’t handle that well due to injuries and size.
They’re a capable offensive team. I think #1 is going to be a beast. They have a shifty back in #2 and the QB isn’t beating you with the legs but if they give him time he throws a pretty good ball.
Yeah, we're never surprised at being the slow team. You can't have a conversation about Franklin in the playoffs without it starting off with a conversation about a deficit in team speed. Like Cane said, the difference was the line play Burns had that night. Then, every time you got in short yardage an extra linemen came in and yall ran the power I with a fullback the size of a Sherman tank. Good Franklin teams can survive against faster teams when we have superior line play, but we just couldn't push yall around.Lol….I don’t think the kids or any real fans were shocked at your team speed.
