DE C.J. Johnson, DT's Issac Gross and Woodrow Hamilton, safety Trae Elston and cornerback Wesley Pendleton are likely to be held out this week vs LSU
Mcready said he thinks the odds of them playing this weekend or even making the trip to LSU are slim to none but said they will be ready to go next weekend.

Too hurt to even make the the trip this week- but they will be fine for the Egg Bowl huh? Nice chickenshit move- save those guys for us while their teammates are getting beat down by LSU- their real rival. Cant believe you hold those guys out in a rivalry game like that.

Pays to lose to LSU if it helps beat MSU

If Freeze gets paid for each SEC win, then he has incentive to rest his players for SEC games that are longshots (like LSU), and have them better rested for SEC games that he has a better shot at winning.

You gotta be kidding me with this ****....

What a chicken **** move. So much for LSU being OM's real rival. I wonder if he sat his gimpy girls for the St. Agnes game to save up for St. Benedict back in the day?

Bush league at best. Being 100% honest, if Mullen did something similar I would have the same view. This isn't just an OM hate thing. Having 5 guys not even make the trip to save up for a game is a very Sun Belt move.

I always get ia kick out of it when they claim this. It's like they don't even realize that no one in the world would ever beleive that, or even believe they were really trying to be serious.

I am ready for the OM spin on this. I would be mad as hell if Mullen basically gave up on winning the LSU game. Hell, he gave up during the game last year and I was livid. Giving up before it starts and sacrificing the rest of the team is unreal.

Wallace is more important than any of these guys. Surprised he's not on the list. Maybe Freeze should send him to frat row this evening so one of those douches with the swoop can injure him again.

It appears their hypocrisy knows no bounds.

All we have heard is the Bears are giving maximum effort and there's a culture change- but they're going to sit those guys to rest them for next week? Yeah, that's a great message to send to the rest of the team.

Cool shirt bro...

It may be the 4th one in a row but I want this Egg Bowl worse than the last 3. They finally have some hope, nothing would please me more than to stomp it out and end their year.

Damn you

That pun earned you an exasperated groan but a begrudging chuckle. Well played, damn you.

No question about it. Wallace has been the difference in their season this year. I wish he would have signed with us, but it was pretty obvious that the best place for him to go was Mississippi.

At SEC Media Days:

"The reasonable expectation from our fans and our administration that they should have on us and our staff and our kids is that we compete passionately for our university for 60 minutes," Freeze said

He should have added "except against our real rival"

I agree it's a chicken **** move and goes against everything that Freeze is preaching, but I also don't think it really helps. First off, off weeks are good for healing bodies, but not very good for maintaining a high level of play and avoiding sloppiness. Secondly, if true, it destroys almost any chance OM has of gaining momentum, by playing well, at LSU. After losing to Vandy, they desperately need a confidence boost, but by doing this Freeze isn't giving that a chance.

It's a must win for both teams. Makes sense for Bucky to sit them.
No way in Hell they win at Red Stick... Load up on LSU -18.5...

Also at SEC Media Days:

* Freeze credited Dan Mullen and his staff for doing well in the Egg Bowl, but he made it clear that he understands what that rivalry game means.

Not even let 5-6 starters make the trip against your "real" rival? Yeah, I guess he understands what rivalry games mean.

He is coaching the way his contract is structured. He needs that $100k per SEC win, so he is saving up on LSU week and playing all his chips on MSU week. Its all about money.

Sends a bad message to their players. On the oher hand, they may understand the business decision. A lot of them made similar business decisions when they signed with Mississippi.

So, by this logic did we "throw" our game against LSU by sitting LDP?

I mean, he's expected to play this week right? Just pointing out the double standard. Flame away

No, he is "probable" for the Mississippi game. I probably doesn't start and probably doesn't get a lot of carries if he plays at all.

He had a pulled quad. He wasnt being held for the egg bowl. If we only had 2 rb's he would have played but we have 4 who have been getting reps all year. No double standard, you tried to hard on this one

Did Freeze say "these guys are being held for the Egg Bowl"?

What is the reason they are out? Do you know? Just asking, and if that's the case, then that's fine. However, if Freeze was really sitting people for the Egg Bowl and conceding the LSU game, I have to believe Wallace would not be playing as he's been banged up all year too. Honestly, you can say I'm reaching, but this entire thread is reaching/overreacting imo. Business as usual though, so carry on

So he had a pulled quad and that's a legit reason to sit out, right?

Your problem here is taking the word of a guy like Coach34 at face value.

I'm not sure if everyone realizes it, but all SEC teams travel with a smaller roster than is available for home games. I think the limit is 70.

Woodrow Hamilton has been in a walking boot for weeks. Hasn't played or traveled in weeks.

Pendleton hasn't played or traveled in a few weeks due to a bad ankle sprain.

Trae Elston, a freshman, has battled a torn meniscus for weeks and has developed turf toe in the last couple of weeks.

CJ Johnson had a foot issue and was listed as questionable going into Vandy, but played before being carted off the field with a neck injury.

Issac Gross has had a groin pull for weeks, but has tried to play through it. Gross and Johnson haven't even practiced this week.

All of this info is on the net.

Here is the exact quote from Freeze, spin it in any direction you'd like...

While most of the walking wounded - sans DT Issac Gross and DE C.J. Johnson - are dressing out and practicing this week, trying to get ready for LSU in Baton Rouge at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Ole Miss Coach Hugh Freeze and his staff have some hard decisions to make in the next 24-36 hours.

"Trae Elston, Woody Hamilton, Wesley Pendleton, C.J., Issac and a couple of more are going to try to play, but we really aren't sure if they can yet or not," said Freeze, analyzing the situation. "We can't take a chance on taking all of those guys.

"We are already thin and we can't take a chance of traveling six or seven guys who can't go. We will have to make some decisions tomorrow."
