I am cautiously optimistic. At this point it is clear that there is very little chance that GRRM will ever finish the saga so this is probably the finale of the actual story everyone cares about.
I think overall the show done a fantastic job of reducing the novels to a comprehensible television show that is true to the source material. That is always a thankless task and while there have been severe missteps (Hello Braindead Wight Kidnapping Plot from last season and everything that ever happened in Dorne), overall it is just a fantastic show.
I am pretty pumped for tonight's episode. From what I understand, the first three episodes will be standard hourish runtimes and the last three episodes will basically be mini-movies.
Couldn't possible be more pumped.
I hope Cleganebowl happens, Dany dies some unexpected death for being fairly boring and tyrannical all these years, Tyrion lives to die in his 80s drunk with a *****, and the series generally avoids doing anything stupid.
And, of course, the story has been told by Samwell Tarly all along.
We shall see.
