Agree.
Would have liked to have seen his first ride have more meaning. Maybe during a battle, the dragon seeing Jon in trouble comes in and Jon has to climb on to escape. Then realizes he can fly it.
Maybe I mis-read, but wasn't there a second where Dany looked over at him and had the "why is he good at this?" look on her face when he was turn the dragon to go to the waterfall?

Good questions. I wonder if they aren't setting up Tyrion to betray Dany in favor of his family like he's purposely sabotaging her efforts. I feel like that would be too obvious though as Danaerys already accused him of that last season after they were outsmarted by the Lannisters.
I do think this season is setting up to have a lot of twists and surprises though. Unless the writers are just pisspoor.

Still waiting for them to unveil Lady Catelyn Stark. In the books she was revived by the red priest who travels with a Beric Dondarrion and seems to become the leader of the Men without Banners group but can’t speak because her throat was slashed.

That’s long been gone unfortunately. That was for the books. They won’t do that now. Bolton’s and Frey’s are all dead.

I think you'll be waiting a while for Lady Stoneheart. I think it's pretty clear that she's was written out of the show since they would have had to introduce her within a season of the Red Wedding for people to get on board with an undead Cat Stark.

My guess is that GRRM told them that she didn't have any special role to play in the end game, so they cut her out altogether.

They might have her show up as a white walker or something later just as an easter egg/fan service thing.

I agree with this. The episode seemed rushed but I think that was on purpose so they get to the real goods going forward. Also something is up with Tyrion that the show has given a few hints about last night. One is the comment Sansa gave, the other is the look bran gave Tyrion. We don’t know what it is but something can’t be right. I’m also wondering what they do going forward to let everyone know about Jons true parents. Do they make an announcement, does Howland Reed come to confirm it.
It's rushed because they only have an outline of the material that GRRM plans (or not) to write. GRRM is a better writer than whoever is writing for HBO. Since they have gone past the books the charecters aren't as good and they are ripping through material more quickly. I want to find out how it ends and I know I will mostly enjoy it, but the show quality has gone down a bit lately. It's like they are buzzing through his landmarks and giving very little airtime to emotions, thoughts, and buildup because he hasn't written that stuff yet.

At this point I wouldn’t even be surprised if he actually announced that he has no intention on finishing the series and that the way it ends in the show is the way it would’ve ended in the books. Whether it be a lack of interest, writers block, or both, I’m not even confident that we’ll get Winds of Winter.

I would have liked Johns Targaryen revelation first mentioned to a large audience in the north for their reaction, it would have been more impactful. Johns reaction didn’t pack enough punch for something that important.

That would be more honorable than just lying, the fat ****.

Lot of people back together for the first time in forever or just for the first time

Jaime is going to get worked next week but he is the King Slayer so he’s kind of gotta be the one to kill the Night King. I can see Captain Phasma and maybe even 3EyeR coming to his rescue during his grilling

Is there a listing anywhere that shows how long each episode runs or are they just making us wait and see?

Are we sure Jon will remain on the same side as the Starks??

He and Arya had an important embrace/hug at the beginning of the show where they both ominously vowed to protect their family. At the time, of course they were both thinking of the Starks, and now we know that’s not the case.

He is still half Stark.

First two will be under and hour. The rest will be closer 1.5.

Epi 1 and 2 - under 60 mins
Epi 4-6 - @80 mins
There has been some conflicting info regarding esp 3, some sources say @60 mins and some say closer to 80...

I think the plot to watch that came out of episode one is Sam's. He didn't take finding out she killed his dad and brother very well. I could see him going to the same route as Olly.

While I absolutely agree, I think it is a credit to the showrunners that they have done a passable job of trying to wrap up a huge, intricate story that was half-written by a fat, lazy shitbird who lies through his teeth about finishing the novels.

A Dance With Dragons came out in 2011. George R. R. Martin is a shitheel, in other words.

GRRM will wait until the show ends and then say it wasn’t how it was supposed to end so people will have to buy his book. If he doesn’t he’s leaving millions of dollars on the table.

Yeah, I agree, when I say lower quality i am taking it from like a 10 star show to a 9 star. It's amazing. No complaints at all. It's definitely not like The Walking Dead which has gone from 9 star at the beginning to maybe a 4 star show now LOL!

Nah. I think he knows which Lannister to not trust/follow.

And He knows that it's time to get the heck out of Kings Landing now that he's popped up on Cersies' radar.
And a wagon full of gold won't hurt matters either : )

I figure he heads north, see which way the winds blowing and might/probably just sit the big battles out. He'll go see Tyrion afterward assuming he's alive.
Remember Tyrion told him once he'd double whatever gold someone would pay Bronn to betray him. I wonder how much gold that would be now.

Yep. Martin has even said that there are hints littered throughout the earlier seasons about what will happen in the end

I didn't take the dragon flying scene as something to make fans happy, I thought it was to drive another nail in the whole Jon is a Targaryen reveal - as the Targaryens are the only ones to have ever ridden the dragons.

I don't see Bron turning on the Lannister boys. Cersei is like the head of the mob. She'd pay Bron to kill them, and then have him killed after. I think he's pretty perceptive in that regard.

Least favorite scene was Sam seeming upset over his father being killed by Daenerys. I get that he is a sensitive guy, but he also knows what's up. I'd have liked it better had he shrugged it off. I guess it provides an opening for him to create a wedge between her and Jon...perhaps.

Watched it again last night. I'm glad we're past the "turn-around, stare at the person you haven't seen in a long time, say something witty/ominous, and then maybe hug" portion of the season. I suppose Jamie and Cersei might have one, but it won't end well.

I just think he was really upset about his brother. I don’t think he had an issue with his brother. I’m not saying they were close but I also think his brother always liked Sam and felt bad for him. Especially when his father was yelling at him, his brother looked down because he knew it was wrong.

Yeah that episode literally was used to get all the bull **** out of the way. I’m glad it was rushed even though I wish Arya and the hound had a better meeting.

I didn’t get a good look at the weapon. What was it?
It was like two different weapons in one. It was a spear like weapon that also had a bow or something to shoot the head of the spear. I’m guessing it’ll be made of dragonglass or valerian steel. I just think they were foreshadowing her being the one to strike the death blow to the Night King.

Will Bron try to kill Jamie and Tyrion? He was friends with both.

Nah. I think he knows which Lannister to not trust/follow.

Jerome Flynn (Bronn) did an interview recently where he said the fans opinion on him will change. Fans have pretty much loved him so far but he said they’ll probably have feelings of hate when it’s over. Makes me think he actually kills one of both of them. That would suck imo.

I’m starting to wonder if Jon will end up killing Dany because she won’t give up the crown. He won’t want to but maybe she refuses to acknowledge it or believe it, she attacks him and he kills her. I don’t know, probably off on that.

A lot of people think the fight with the Whites will be done by episode 3 and episode 4-6 will be the north vs south. I really hope now. The war with the whites is way more compelling than the north vs south IMO. I’m hoping on episode 3 after 2 episodes of fighting, what’s left alive in the north will retreat to kings landing where they all combine and fight the Whites.

I think the war with the WW will be episode 3. But that doesn’t mean it’s over after that episode. If Winterfell falls and Jon/others lose, they will probably retreat and there will be another battle with the WW, Cersei, and the what’s left of Jons team.
