Its so unacceptable to play an important game like this. They are not THIS bad.
We are not a tournament team. Still glad we are outperforming expectations… but that’s all.

We harp on it all throughout Sha’s 4 seasons but it’s so hard to win at an NCAAT level without any 3PT shooting.

It is so upsetting to see Willard sweep the Pirates, and his approach to harass their only 2 deep threats in both games, made the Pirates look pathetic for four halves.

It's clear as day. A coach who refuses to recruit good shooters and doesn't incorporate the three point shot into his style of play. Mind-boggling stuff, makes zero sense. Maddening, really, as it has gotten worse as he's gained coaching experience.
Totally agree. Don't understand. Sha gets a Big F for that. I know he cant shoot for them, but they sucked in every aspect tonight. I thought Clarke came to play. The rest of them truly sucked tonight. Season not over and I will be rooting hard. Go Pirates!

The season isn't over because there is always the BET. That said, they could win out and I'm not sure it would be enough at this juncture.
Right now its one game at a time. Very sad performance. Most down i have felt about the team this year. There is a Physiological aspect of coaching aside from yelling. So there's that. But and I hate to start a sentence with But, you need talent. It was scary that Willard's Villanova looked tougher than Wright's Villanova.

I couldn't watch rest of game after like 4 minute mark in first half. I actually felt optimistic cause it was like 23-29. Then I reach where I went to tonight and it's like 25-40 halftime. Just pathetic man. I'm more calm and understand the reality, but it's so sad the corruption of NIL will win out over building through comadrie and passion for one's school. That's why won't respect "Money bought" programs like St. Johns, the joke school who were chokers even when we had Willard and Powell. I know they had their 80's and 90's run but don't care.

Agreed. Again, season is not over. It just got even more difficult, but it isn't over. 6-6 in a historically weak Big East. Given the OOC, or lack thereof, we probably need to go 7-1 with a win over either UCONN or SJU to get back into the conversation. Especially since we know how the Committee is going to treat a borderline Big East school, which we would be at 13-7 in the league given our OOC.
Wachtel thinks 6-2 can do it as long as NC State keeps winning, but 7-1 would definitely make me feel more comfortable for the reason you stated. Although a part of me feels like they owe us one.
As fans, we’re allowed to look ahead. Assuming a loss at UConn, it would be great to get the win at Creighton on Saturday to hold the other loss in our back pocket, lol. Carino said it earlier— he feels a win and in game against St. John’s the last game of the season is imminent. As this is all playing out, it’s completely possible that he’s right. We’ve proven we can compete. No more room for error.
I think a better way to say it is that a few guys have declined in play and should not be rewarded with either starts or as many minutes.

Everyone looks better when they’re playing less talented teams like Wagner and whatever cup cake schedule we played before Maui. The OOC schedule was designed to have 7 wins before conference play.
When Sha got hired I wasn’t expecting to be on the bubble. I wasn’t expecting to saying we deserve to be in as an 11 seed. I was expecting second weekends. I think you’re missing the big picture if you’re thinking man 2024 we deserved it. They didn’t leave out any teams seeded 8 or 9 in all of the bracketologies. That team like the 2002-2003 team didn’t start playing good basketball til mid January. The months of Nov and Dec matter. As far as goods we were sold on hiring day to results we got, this is Gonzo level where I keep being told to believe it’s going to happen but it never does. He’s not going anywhere but we need to score. You can’t run up the score and have gaudy big wins to impress people if you can’t score and and even when you do win you only score 65 points. Frustrating rant. Sorry
This is what a few of us were saying during this timeframe, only to get snarky comments and nonsense thrown our way (and while Mau was a step up, it was one good opponent, one solid team, and a garbage one). Anyone posting here is a die-hard, and while I don't tell anyone how to be a fan, I don't cast stones or engage in message board garbage or attacks on those who choose not to have blinders on or acknowledge reality. I say this all as someone who has enjoyed this season to date -- it has already basically exceeded my expectations -- and enjoyed all the wins, comebacks and how this group gets after it defensively.
Again, season not over by any stretch. The L tonight was just disheartening because it was probably our most important game since March 2024 at the BE tourney against St John's. No margin for error with 6 of the "most winnable" games left and we probably need to go undefeated there and beat either Uconn or SJU to get back in the NCAA discussion.
