Barker looking good imo. Hope they continue starting him this year and into next.

Our offense just has a better rhythm with Barker. I know it is Charlotte, but we just seem to be more in sync with him.

how much of being a good O Lineman is being big and strong and how much is technique?

like i know a 5'9" 165lbs guy can't technique his way through the SEC, but I'd be curious to know from someone who has coached or played OL

or is our struggles just a product of Bad PLay from the Unit as whole vs individual line play?

Our OL is abysmal. Maybe the reason why Krok left was the coaching?
You can't tell me after 3 years the OL hasn't gotten any better and gets manhandled by the worst team in Div 1 rushing 3 or 4?

I know he has recruited some good OL but I do think the ones he was after were Ky players and Marrow and the other members of the staff were after guys in their regions. I think having another coach come in who has had more experience than the HS level/ Troy will do wonders for our line.
Our guys we are playing now had enough good offers or ranked high enough to be a decent squad.

Thanks. I'm impressed folks. Clearly UK fans ARE still paying attention even if their not filling up the stadium. My internet provider also does not support watch ESPN, and my basic cable package does not include the SECN. This after all is the mountain west, PAC and MW country. Those games I get.

Barker is def getting the ball out quicker and fighting more than Towles. Refusing to take a sack while being hit and getting rid of the ball is crucial. Patrick would of just taken the sack. So far Barker is looking better. Don't say its because were playing Charlotte as Patrick played against EKU and LLa

I don't know. That eastern game was pretty tight.

EKU is multiple scores better than Charlotte. Barker has done absolutely nothing wrong and deserved tonight's start, but there are several Towle's bashers that suddenly can't believe the ineptitude of our o-line. Barker has to be the guy moving forward, but this offense is just not very good right now.

Technique is HUGE for linemen. If you look at the NFL draft.....specifically the NFL combine.....you will see that most of the best WR's all have fairly similar speed, fairly similar strength, etc........same for RB's......DB's.....etc. But the lines will have strength and speed numbers that are vastly more varied when compared to the other positions. Technique just matters that much.

I would take technique, line chemistry, defense awareness and recognition.........over pure speed/strength talent when it comes to the o-line.

When you are as bad up front as we are in pass blocking, it is hard to call. Short quick throws are basically all we can and some of those are under pressure. A lot of our runs tonight our backs are getting hit right after the hand off. Yes, we have had some big runs, but way to many times we are getting hit before getting to the line of scrimmage.

Josh Allen. There's a name I haven't heard. Finally get to play everyone and let them make a highlight
