While there are a lot of factors that go into decisions on moving games due to weather, certainly one of those is attendance. With gate receipts making up a large part of athletic budgets, the teams need to play when fans will attend.
Thomasville (1A) and East Davidson (2A) are crosstown rivals that usually have large crowds on both sides of the stadium. The crowd for both sides last night was abysmal. Never seen a game at Cushwa where you could walk up to the concession stand at halftime with no line.
Not saying the decision was wrong, but at 6 pm a downpour was just ending and the dampness made the cool temperatures worse. People obviously just chose to stay home, including some decades long season ticket holders.
Hopefully, if we get a home playoff game, the crowd will return.
