I get that some of this is due to thunderstorms and that can't be avoided. However, some of this is strictly due to rain and they don't want to destroy the field for the remainder of the season. If they NCSHAA would help schools invest in their programs (artificial turf) much of this could be avoided. NC is so far behind nearly every other state when it comes to how they spend on athletics. I mean there are schools in major cities that just 2 years ago got rid of their dirt track.

That huge endowment fund has just sat there for years.....

I've had the opportunity to live in several different states in my adult life before returning to NC and they get it. NM, one of the poorest states in the union gets it. Granted they don't have as many high schools as we do but nearly all of their high schools have modern athletic facilities. We got schools with stadiums that look worse than many youth program fields. It's down right embarrassing.

It's a major improvement, in terms of not having to cancel the entire weeks worth of activities and losing revenue. It's seems to work everywhere that has artificial turf. I watched athletes play on it for the 6 years we were in Indiana and no one had any issues. I think there is a stigma associated with artificial turf based on what it used to be.

The only thing I can think of that is a negative to artificial turf is a lot of NFL players and fans think it is the cause of increased injuries compared to natural grass. I don't think there is any concrete data to back up that notion. But some people have some pretty strong feelings about it. For example, the NY Giants have been one of the most injured teams in the NFL and it coincides with the new turf at Metlife Stadium, and the practice fields.

Dudley downed a punt at the one and they made Page fumble the next play they recovered for a TD. 14-0 and they just intercepted a Page pass. Not looking good for the Pirates.

20-0 now about 7 mins left in the ball game. Page moved down inside the 30 and was stopped on downs, Panthers score 4 plays later. Good game!
