Exactly right. Sounded like he was going to go regardless.
That’s how I’m rationalizing it now. It’s much easier to accept if he really didn’t want to be here. It’s over. Time to build on what we have.

I thought it was telling how us being in a good place was "will" not "are". I wonder how healthy the NIL coffers are here at present.

Maybe the fact that we didn't offer him anything was offensive to him- why should he have to go ask us to match something that he felt he should have been offered in the first place? Kind of a smack in the face - Gtown (or whatever school) showed interest that we did not initially and that may have been enough for him to say 'Screw this - I'll go where I'm appreciated!'

My guess is that all of the attention and presumably $ Mag got was the proverbial straw. I think we, including the coaches, took Cameron’s staying at Rutgers as a given.
Seriously. I'm sure there was some amount of NIL at Rutgers, especially since every Rutgers athlete gets something. The question is what was the gap between what he was anticipating to get here, and whatever he was offered by a poacher.
Right but this one is a little weird cuz we aren’t getting poached from higher and it was only around $90k. Surprising. Think we could have matched if given the chance. Weird
