Girls flag football

Ok I did see something on the news about girls high school flag football in Charlotte. But I didn’t get in the full details. I think I read where 5 other states have this sports. How would having girls flag football in N.C. work out? Any thoughts.

I heard the Charlotte school superintendent say on the radio today, that it’s equity. I don’t have a dog in the fight but personally I think it’s kinda of dumb. After all, there’s not a men’s volleyball league. Sorry but everything can’t be the same for both sexes. It just can’t. Of course this day and time there are those out there who would tell you there are more than two sexes. You ain’t never gonna please them.

Ok OC I’m a little worried about you. I’m hoping you looked up mens volleyball and that dude popped up. Cause normal grown adults have absolutely no idea who he is. As Thunder struck said, I had to look him up.

I’ll admit…that I’m not normal…but I didn’t have to look it up. Karch Kiralys’ name is synonymous with volleyball. Of course… his name is the only name that I know when the topic is volleyball… men or women.

LOL. I know who Kerri Walsh (Jennings) is too. Men’s and women’s beach volleyball has some athletes who are as good as in any sport. I’m just old enough to remember the whole Wide World of Sports thing. And when I have to choose between watching paint dry or MLB in the summer, beach volleyball seems a pretty good alternative. Or better yet, go outside and get on the tractor (if my wife’s not on it). Televised sports in the summer leaves a lot to be desired.

Personally I both sex should play whatever sports they want. Many people don’t realize that cheerleading use to be only guy sport .

When the free money runs out, what programs will receive monetary cuts to continue funding Girl’s Flag Football? There are only two or three sports that pay their on way as it is in most schools. Public schools are like any other Government entity, just because a sport doesn’t pay it’s own way is no reason not to continue the program.

The same ones that fund field hockey, soccer, chess club, and every other sport that doesn't make any money.

Why are we gatekeeping football? or any other sport or activity? Women's flag football is great for lots of reasons. More interest in the sport from a more diverse group of people, even out the numbers for Title IX so we don't have to worry about cutting other sports and so on. The biggest drawback is funding, of course, but I think flag football will lose less money than a lot of other sports. I hope we get girls wrestling too, because my 6 year daughter old loves it and all-girls would be a better environment for it.

Also, if a dude wants to play volleyball, great. As long as he is competing against other dudes. I think football is the greatest sport known to man, but there are a lot of kids who have all kinds of interests. Giving kids somewhere to find themselves in a constructive environment is by far the biggest goal and we should be making available every opportunity we can.
