Sha has produced 4 teams that have not made the ncaa tournament. Teams with less money made the tournament this year. Sha has no plan
Ah yes. Because GM’s are just so successful everywhere. They definitely never get fired for poor performance.

At the end of the day, Sha determines the players he wants. The GM is there to negotiate with players and their handlers, which is time-consuming and probably a skill set that is not a strength of the coach.
What do all the assistant coaches do in the off season then?

While that may be true, if in 5 days a GM comes in and and revamps the whole thing and it doesn't work, you know damn well that will be the excuse 12 months from now. I can hear it now, well you know we had a new GM and he didn't have time to settle in. Not to mention the role was new so not everyone knew how it would work.

What do you mean "revamps the whole thing?" You think the job of a GM at Seton Hall working for Sha is to decide what kind of team we should be? What are you even talking about? This @NCAAsorBust is more creative than Spielberg..

He doesn’t need to revamp the whole thing in 5 days. He needs to improve the scouting and negotiating with agents to help us land better talent.

The portal opens in a week or so. You don't think Sha and staff have an idea of what they wanted to do since the loss to SJU? The timing sucks. They've been planning for 3 weeks now there's someone new involved. From my experience in business when you bring someone in last minute after planning for weeks it never ends well.

And he's got about 5 days to do it. Next question is how receptive will a basketball coach who has been doing his own scouting the last 3 weeks, I'm sure dealing with handlers, going to handle it when the new guy says no you got it wrong.

GM is not as critical now. You want him to maximize the budget that he is given and close Sha’s top targets.

Anytime you can pry away the guy responsible for putting the roster together for the 12th ACC team you have to do it

At least he’s used to not having enough resources
I hear you, but that VA tech team was very well constructed. They absolutely would have made the tournament if they didn’t get bit by injuries. And they were a joke the season prior.

Not as critical now? Tis the season where everything goes down. I would be thinking this is the most critical, but I could be wrong.

We are Doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. Time for some new blood
So doing something because everybody else is doing it makes it right? In 2-3 weeks. ESPN and every other college basketball website will release a list of the top players in the portal. We’re going to pay somebody well into the 6 figures to do the same thing?

You make literally no sense. If that’s the strategy then we might as well go to d3.

The two Division approach east or traditional v Midwest could generate dome interest in fan engagement etc ... but I would think the pros in media don't think it moves the needle.

I don’t think you guys know anything about how it works lol like zero clue

It’s not a bad idea..not earth shattering but prob worth a shot..good for Sha for trying it

Tell us how it all works.
The GM spot is like your unofficial/official tamperer

These kids don’t just appear in the transfer portal..it is a constant back and forth between..what we can get you, who we can get to come with you, what your role is starting in basically November

There is really no way Sha can do that and Coach..now does Sha basically know the game of course but this is just a pure time and effort move..he doesn’t have enough hours in a day to figure out who will go in portal for what and who and coach a team

Again it’s not earth shattering but is worth a shot..also I’ve said this 1000x Sha is a big hit with parents…not always a big hit with kids..keep that in mind too

I think it's going to be A LOT more pro like than you think. But hey I don't know anything. Like absolutely zero. So does this article. Bunch of dopes like me writing articles.

And I'm sure that business experience aligns perfectly with college basketball.

I think your part about the "unofficial/official" tamperer is right, but I also have no doubt several of our assistants play that role.
