But @NCAAsorBust said the GM will be revamping how our team is built and Sha will just have to accept what he says      Sharp as a cue ball this guy
You are so funny. Comedian of on3. We got a guy who no one thought was worth the price to retain and our big money athletics department said that's the guy I want. But this fan base has gone from being too good for 1st round losses in the NCAA tournament to it was a good year despite not making the tournament. Talk about being sharp.

The joke is when you define this role of the guy who will be giving Sha all the analytics. That's a whole new system of how to get kids. Have we done that in the past? It's revamping how we go about getting minor league players. There's going to be glitches in how they work together. It's a guarantee.

It’s a good idea to have a GM and hopefully this is the right guy.

He must be really into the transfer thing though as he’s had 4 jobs in the last 4 years.
Ideally you'd like a guy with some longevity somewhere. But the 4 jobs in 4 years involved some leaving for better jobs and Head coaching changes.

- Spent 5 years at LSU as DOBO (17-22)

- Left to a lower conference but promotion to a full Assistant Coach/Recruiting Director job at Fresno St (22-23)

- Left for Director of Player Development at Oklahoma State (23-24)

- Left after Mike Boynton and staff were fired

- Took GM role at West Virginia (24-25) when Devries was hired. Devries left for Indiana after 1 year although apparently they had issues and he was not going to be retained.

- Took General Manager job at Virginia Tech

More is lost by indecision than wrong decision.

So this is a Will Wade guy then? Didn’t realize he worked on his staff for so long.

Sharpest guy on the board and sopranos expert. How much indecision did we have the last 4 years?

In sopranos terms, we've been bumped off as far as the NCAA tournament goes.
So your solution is to conclude that it was a bad idea to hire a GM? Maybe we should just permanently stay in the year 2000. I thought people were upset because we DIDN'T have a GM yet, now you're upset because we do? I don't understand your panic over this lol. You’re like a woman with a Virginia ham under her arm crying the blues because she has no bread.

I've said it 5 times. Go read the part after where I mentioned revamping that you called out 5 times. The guy hasn't been in meetings with Sha for a week, you think he knows what Sha is looking for, yet he's going to be providing Sha all the information he needs to determine who he goes after and doesn't go after? That's pretty idiotic in my opinion. People who go in and implement things immediately usually regret it. Usually you wait, learn the systems, the people, the flow of how things work at the new job then see where you can improve things and make it better. That's why I said I think this guy shouldn't be doing too much this portal season. Too many new parts at the most critical time. Permanently staying in 2000 and getting the #1 recruiting class would eventually pay off.

Hey genius, there's a new invention called the telephone. We even have mobile ones now. You're out of your depth. Let Coach Sha worry about it. I could tell someone what I'm looking for in a text message. You think this guy is just gonna go out there without speaking to Sha first?

And furthermore, so your solution is to not have anyone hired until next year? Further yet, you don't think Sha already has a good idea of who he wants? They watch and stay up on kids all year, and a lot of these kids they've watched since middle school. I don't get the panic.

Genius let me know when an NFL or NBA GM gets hired the week before the draft and they do everything by phone.

It would've made sense to hire someone 6 weeks ago and be onsite, see the practices, see the games, go over them with the coach. Furthermore if Sha has a good idea of who he wants, GM sounds like a redundant job. It's not panic, it's seeing something that looks like a failure waiting to happen and just pointing it out. No different than SHU09 saying we wouldn't be a tournament team when we were 14-2.

Ahhh yes the official tamperer role. Because you need to tamper in todays world to get kids to enter the portal. 2500 kids were tampered with. LOL
You have no idea ha

I think we would have had JQ and LM a couple years back with a GM..but I’m sure you know all about that right

Last year a kid we offered in April..was first contacted by teams the week before Christmas

Those teams knew the ballpark of what he would want, the idea he actually liked his current school, what role he was looking for to develop for the next level, and what other kids he would potentially be motivated to come here to play with

We called him in April offered him about 1/3 less of what he was offered in January and didn’t know any of that and come off as totally clueless

That’s something a GM can help with x100

They're all looking to get more money. It doesn't take tampering to get a kid in the portal. Very few are saying gosh darn it, I'm happy to be making less here with the exception of the ivy schools. Everyone has a handler in their ear saying you could get more elsewhere. They're in the portal because it's a business decision to see what they can get.

It’s amazing how so many people are thrown off by the college GM title. If the title wasn’t given to an entirely different position 20 years ago, this job is truly closer to a Director of Basketball Operations.

Spent many years in JC before it was built up. I have a lot of Hudson Catholic grad friends from when it was an all boy school. Many love the school and involved alums. I was at the HC Hall of Fame dinner last year at Il Villaggio in Carlstadt where they inducted their state champion hockey team. I have more than a few good connections at HC. All swear JQ was the nicest kid to come out of there in years, not just basketball players. I'm aware of all of JQ, LM, and LK's recruitments.

So you think the GM is going to be getting honest info before hand? They're all used car salesmen, The handler is going to be bullshitting the GM for sure.

Wasn’t talking about their intitiql recruitment at all and I don’t need them to tell me LM told me to my face several times their plan and it didn’t work and I think a GM would have made it work

But again this is a waste of time because you know everything

if everyone would stop wasting their time with this guy maybe he would go away. Wishful thinking. These guys just keep buzzing round with all the answers.
