I wonder if being left out of playoffs had anything to do with it?🤭

Talk about a totally unnecessary rushed hire.

Is there another school in the SEC that would have considered Golding? Seriously? I have never once heard his name in the mix for another HC job.

But look at the money they likely saved. From $9M to Kiffen (maybe $15M if they'd kept him) to whatever Golding's worth - only $3M or so?

The PR spin job on this one is going to be wild. Totally expect to see them pushing this week that Golding was the real brains behind the operation all along and Kiffin was never that good

They are terrified that the CFP committee is going to punish them because of Kiffin leaving, so they are going to lay it on thick to hype up Golding this week. They also have to get their fans to buy in on this. Get ready for this guy to be made out to be the second coming of Nick Saban.

I slightly altered what you wrote.

This is their Arnett hire.

Golding is a bit more seasoned & has people to call upon… and you know Ole Miss is going to do what they can to make Golding their Anti-Arnett…

Also being reported that OM offered to double the salary of any offensive staff that stayed.

Respectfully, nobody died in their coaching building today. They could have easily named him interim and figured out next season over the course of the next week or two.

They absolutely didn’t have to make him permanent HC this quick.

I'm not an expert on the ever shifting transfer rules, but its my understanding that once a school hires a new head coach then the transfer portal opens up for any players who want to leave.

So, not only has UMiss pushed Kiffin out, but if they name Golding permanent head coach then any players who want to leave can go right now.

Seems like most players would want to be in the playoffs and just transfer in January, but if any of them are super loyal to Kiffin....

They didn’t have to but what do you expect from a university whose fight song is Forward Rebels?

This move is true to their nature.

Except he had 8 years as a coordinator in the SEC, 4 at Bama & 4 at UMiss. He won’t get them in the playoffs, but he won’t crash & burn either. A lot will depend on who he gets as OC. He can have ours.
I’m not sure I’d trust Arnett to shovel manure out of a chicken coop.

A wet paper bag is probably better than Arnett but it’s certainly similar in that they could do much better but they’re just trying to save face with the players and their playoff hopes by immediately promoting Golding.

Their offense should be interesting. I don't see them maintaining that with Kiffin taking everyone but judge supposedly.
