Think I am going to buy a new Ping Craz E putter - want a face balanced putter

But hacks me off because I used to have one and sold it years ago. Think Ping just started making them again after a long break

I have done the putter trials/errors/purchases/trade-ins for years. I always come back to my old Ping Wack E.

Does it look absolutely absurd? Yes.
Does it sound like a 1992 college baseball bat? Yes.
Is it perfectly balanced for me? Yep.

I just ordered an OZ1.i does anyone own a LAB putter?
Do not but played a bit with a buddy's and I was surprised how much it helped my backswing. By that, I use a wing blade putter and I can feel the waggle/unsteadiness going back and with this thing it's a steady as can be. May get one for myself but not thrilled laying down $400-600 of one right now.

Question I’ve been meaning to ask in this group for a while.

Do you tend to play:

1) A bowed wrist?
2) Cupped?
3) Flat?; or
4) Do even notice or give a ****?

I just realized recently how awful my lower body movement has been in comparison to everything above my waist. Everything I tried with my wrists, takeaway and all the upper body movements but same ****** results. I watch a lot of the swing videos when scrolling and came across this one of Bryson explaining a drill to work on getting your hips into your swing. Been working on this for a few rounds focusing almost solely on getting the left knee turned with my hips and planting the left foot as the transition at the top of my swing and it's allowing for more consistency and less over the tops.

My biggest miss is hitting the ball fat, and I think it’s from years of being told “hit the ball before you take a divot.” In theory, yes, world class players can do that and take a huge piece of carpet out after their strike.

For me, unfortunately, it only ended up in terrible habits that I’m still trying to correct to this day.

I went from a Scotty to a used Ping I picked up at Edwin Watts.
Have made a lot more putts with it.

I know two people currently using one and about a dozen more who have tried them before moving on to something else. The only one I would consider an above average putter that uses a LAB uses the LINK 1, which is their most traditional looking putter.

Putting is the worst part of my game for sure, but I just can't convince myself to try a LAB. I think they're absolutely hideous and I'd have zero confidence using one.

TBH this is exactly opposite to the lesson in the most recent GOLF magazine article by Bernie Najar, GOLF top 100 teacher. He has the stick through his belt loops but the idea is to turn your shoulders back while keeping the stick more or less in place so that "By the time the your arms get to waist height going back, the stick should still be at almost the same alignment it was at address, meaning you should have turned and your arms have lifted but your hips have pretty much stayed square."

The idea is to wait until the club has passed your trail thigh before letting the lower body start to wind. This seems to be exactly opposite to what Bryson is telling the guy in the video.

i have tried it all when it comes to getting better rotation. My ball striking got good and consistent when I use a few simple thoughts. I love the wall or chair drill where (if you are right handed) your right butt cheek touches the wall or chair and then your left cheek on the downswing. Also imagine my left hip against a wall and try to keep it there during the backswing to prevent swaying. Def helps minimize early extension which is a problem with most amateurs.

Agree, I think you should try to turn your shoulders more than your hips. At least that's what I have always understood creates tension and adds power. I have overturned my hips which leads me to come way too much inside out and I have tried forever to stop that bad habit.

From my experience it comes down to someone’s physical abilities and limitations. When I was young I did not have to turn my hips as much, still got a ton of shoulder turn and could get a lot of clubhead speed. With age, back problems, etc. I have had to make a bigger hip turn which also helps with my shoulder turn and I still can create good club head speed but my ball striking is better than it ever has been. I am an inside to out as well but I constantly have to remind myself to keep my shoulders square or slightly open since I have a bad habit of closing them too much. I swear, golf is like solving a rubik’s cube. Figuring out what works best for you is a lifelong journey. There is no 1 and only way. The pro’s are just better than us at figuring it out (plus the time to practice and play) ibut have their own demons they fight as well.

I have pretty good flexibility still. I don't exercise much anymore but I stretch everyday and stretch my back the most. I still have a fast, almost violent swing; can't completely break the baseball swing. It's a matter of preference. I've tried upright, less turn back but feel I get more arms than legs into the shot. The way Bryson shows it, I think is just getting your hips cleared to stay ahead of faster hands.

My best shots end with feeling like my lower body is about 3/4 up from getting out of a chair.

It's an unsolvable rubik's cube but I love throwing money trying to crack it.

Haven't played in a bout 2 weeks and was struggling with my irons at that time.
May try getting a lesson.
Anybody had a lesson from one of the pros at the Golf Galaxy in Lexington?

Ask the pro to take a look at my swing. I proceeded to hit a nasty hook. He said there was a piece of **** attached to my club. I took a towel and cleaned my clubface. The pro said, “I meant the other end of the club.”

Old one I heard was supposedly a true story. Bobby Jones was playing with his dad, who was playing awful. Finally, after another terrible shot, his dad took a smooth practice swing and turned around and asked "what was wrong with that?"

Bobby answered, "nothing, try using it on the ball sometime."

I video my daughters swing when she is having issues and watch it in slow motion. You can find a lot of the issues this way because trying to watch in normal speed it's just too hard to see stuff. I would recommend anyone video themselves and watch in super slow mo.

This is how I feel my swing looks....

So . . . my new putter is supposed to be delivered on Tuesday, then need to get Golf Galaxy to regrip it.

But, much to my surprise, naturally, I have putted like a dream with my old one last two rounds. 🤣

I guess I will have a dilemma, but just because I bought it, doesn't mean I have to play with it.

Is anyone else as tired as I am of hearing announcers talking about ball speed and swing speed with every shot these guys take? Just sick of it. No one else can do it so let it go. Geez.

Almost horror story yesterday. On 2nd tee, group is waiting to tee off. We are waiting behind them. We are all waiting because group in fairway consist of two women who have never played before. Who books a 10 am Saturday tee time for newbies?
I call clubhouse and they don’t care. Group is a hole and a half behind on the second freaking hole!!1
Well, they finished the 2nd and 3rd holes and jumped to the 5th. They finish 9 holes and were done. Proceeded to have a 4 hour round thank god.

I am all for people learning to play, but go to a par three course for a while to learn how to play, not a regulation size course on a Saturday AM.

Ya newbies have no idea how difficult a regulation course is. Hit some off a driving range and go to a par 3 course before you decide to hit a regulation course.

Peninsula yesterday morning w/ cawood and buds. Had been a bit since I have been out there.....course was in great shape (bunkers needed a little TLC) and the layout is solid. You have to be on top of your 50 yds and in game. The wind and rough were brutal.

Well at least they made the Tour Championship somewhat normal again by letting everyone start even. No more giving strokes like you would at your local club championship. That is a great step. Now make the course harder or move it to a better one.

I played Erin Hills a number of years ago and so have been watching some of the US Womens Open. Place was hard as hell for me, but the leaders are at -8, and cut will most likely be +1, so they aren't having that much trouble.

It is a great course, but out in the middle of nowhere, hard to get to, there are also almost no trees, with huge greens and bunkers, looks and plays like a British Open course, but with lots of elevation changes.

Homa did the opposite. Fired a 68 and followed it up with a smooth 79. Several players had very different results from round 1 and round 2. Wonder if tee times affected scores ? Tougher conditions from one day to the next based on time they played ?

Jacks wrong. Media, the medium, has changed. We want access, personality, etc. it’s great for him to say when he’s the best and can do what he wants but it’s beneficial to the player and the sport to do. And btw, I know it’s his tournament, n]but please go away. He brings nothing to the broadcast.

Sort of read like an old man screaming "get off my lawn" to me as well. When he won his first US Open, there was no internet, social media or cable TV . . . oh yeah, and his first place prize money was $1400. Things have changed a slight bit since then.

Scheffler keeps racking up the wins. 3 in last 4.
He shoots a simple 2 under and nobody close. I didn’t even watch yesterday or today. Tired of see Scheffler win and no one challenging. Wish Rory had played this week. He could have made it interesting.
