In a slow basketball news week when we’ve also suffered some beat downs on the recruiting trail treat yourself to some Jamal Mashburn talking trash about Cooper Flagg

The other guy was acting surprised but I don’t think Mashburn was trying to be controversial, do you? I think it was his honest projection-based opinion. He’s talking about long-term. The college production and NBA ceilings of those players are completely different conversations.

Cooper Flagg was arguably the most impactful freshman in CBB since Zion Williamson, but I actually thought Cameron Boozer was better. I think Boozer is the only one of those freshmen good enough, efficient enough, and well-rounded enough to lead a team to a title. Of course, any of them would have to have good players around them, but I mean good enough to be the “best player” and his team still have a good chance to win a title. That’s as rare as hen’s teeth.

Yeah I was having a feel-good moment but I don't think Mash was being biased at all or really trying to talk trash. Just speaking from a place of deep insight and experience.

To be fair Duke should have won that title if not for an epic choke job twice in a row for both players.
