I've always felt he was like this & have no issues with him being R passing/3rd down back

I said it before the guy has found his nitch and excels at it. He was always a shifty runner with great hands, however he always had trouble getting through the line. But once in space he could make people miss. Now as the third down back he gets the ball in space and just has a way of finding the sticks. Have to give props to the coaches this one they got exactly right.
