or is that just baseball?

ETA: I see USM and UNC fans agreeing on another board. They seem to think he's looking at 5 years at over 2milliion. "Press conference schedule for Thursday" - but who knows.

he tends to know a lot that goes on with his university. He told me about the proposed idea of C-USA and MWC merging some time last year. I thought it was kind of ridiculous and didn't say anything about it, and it turns out he was right about it.

texted me earlier saying this was happening. This is a perfect move for a guy that can't beat teams he should. It's practically what the ACC was built on.

that they have offered Fedora $2.2M per year with another $2M for assistants. If I'm Fedora I jump all over that.

I don't see what he's done that Bower never did do. If anything his defenses have regularly been ****, and he's a arrogant prick. He runs around the sidelines like a peacock trying to top a hen. Who has USM had to play and beat while he was there? CUSA is one of weakest conferences in the NCAA, yet people still think he's golden for doing something that the previous coach had been doing for years. Just don't understand all the hype. Most of it is just media driven, but you'd think they would have hopped on someone else's jockstrap by now.

If UNC's dishing out $2 mil/per, I hope they didn't load up too much on the buyout part of the deal. I have a feeling they are going to need it.

Bower always gave them 6-9 win seasons. However, he never won a CUSA Championship game, nor an 11-win season. USM fans got bored with being just good so they rolled the dice and went after someone they hoped would make them great. If they hadn't have choked against Marshall and UAB, they WOULD'VE been BCS bound (maybe to get blown out in the Sugar Bowl, but still been in the BCS).<div>
</div><div>Now they're stuck staying at home and watching the game at their friends' houses...y'know, the buddies who have full cable with ESPN and not the Basic Hookup they have at their own house.</div>

I believe his records stand up to Fedora - but the world is different now and Fedora is benefitting.

The one thing I will give to Bower that Fedora still has to get is getting the right assistants. That's a big part as to why Bower has had better defenses than Fedora has. No matter what Bower did though, he was not going to produce an offense near the caliber that Fedora had. Fedora's biggest issue was him being unwilling to get rid of Bradford, and now that he's over at Maryland, we see that his ineptitude wasn't just specific to Southern.<div>
</div><div>I don't like the guy, but from what I've seen of him and Bower personally, it's hard to say that Bower was the better coach for me. Another advantage I'd give Fedora is that he wasn't afraid to try his hand at some of the bigger recruits in the area. Bower never would have gone for the DeAndre Brown types or even the QB from California, Ricky Lloyd. Because of those reasons, I really can't say Bower was the better coach. He's a prick, but Fedora knows his **** when it comes to offense.</div>
