A little surprised that Malone didn't make this team... Guess there were a bunch of freshman OL in the SEC getting PT this year.

Another example of the fact that we did a bunch of missing on the 2011 class... We've had what? 4, 2, and 3 previously make the all-freshman SEC team under Dan?

Not completely disagreeing, but would it not also say that we've done well enough in prior years that our Freshmen are redshirting instead of having to play immediately? Maybe not.

Can't a redshirt FR make the all FR team?

Or do they have to be a true freshmans?

Redshirt freshmen count as well...hence why McKinney made the team.

The difference is that almost no one in that class was good enough to break heavily into the rotation this year as rsFR, other than McKinney and Malone. Could argue that we were deeper in the older classes, but given that we really didn't improve drastically in any aspect, I don't necessarily think that is true.

2011 class(upon posting this and looking at it, I guess it really isn't really too terrible...just sucks to have lost the likely stars at the last minute)
QB - Very good. Prescott
RB - Excellent. Milton and Robinson
OL - Very Bad. Ton of busts/quitters. Malone is the bright spot.
WR - Push. Leaning Bad. Still waiting to see on Morrow, but Fosselman is gone. No depth.
TE - Push. Warren looks the part but is yet to be seen.
DL - Good. 2 of 3 are contributing
LB - Good. McKinney was only LB we took.
DB - Very Good. Slay and Arrington
Still a bunch of players with a bunch to prove in that class. PJ Jones and Arrington need to step up.

My bad. Should have read Cadaver's post more carefully. Redshirt freshmen can make it--e.g., Corey Broomfieldin 2009. But I believe (without actually looking it up) that we're starting fewer freshmen than in previous years. For example, for this year's Egg Bowl McKinney, Bell, Malone, Morrow, Prescott, and Calhoun were the freshmen on the depth chart, though of course others played some. In the '09 Egg Bowl it was Bumphis, Heavens, Smith, Wilder, Swendenborg, Broomfield, Banks, Watson, Hunt, Wilson, Bell, Cox, Devin Jones, and Boyd.

Yea I didnt know redshirts counted....still doesnt seem like we had to rely on as many freshmen to dtep in this year though. Whether it was due to talent is definitely debatable though. Either way I agree about the 2011 class
