A lot to play for this week. A Hickory Ridge win gives them the conference outright. A HR loss and LKN win and we have a tie at the top.
At the same time, Lake Norman host city rival Mooresville in a battle for the 2 spot in the GM4! A win will lock Mooresville in the playoffs, and a loss puts the Blue Devils squarely on the bubble potentially.
so here we go:
South Iredell (2-7, 1-4) at Cox Mill (4-5,1-4)
A game the chargers MUST have to even put them in the discussion for one of the final wildcard spots. South comes in averaging about 160 rushing yards a game, while passing for just over 100. Cox Mill gave Hickory Ridge all they wanted last week, holding a 17-7 lead at one point. The chargers will lean on their balanced attack, and control the tempo. I expect this game to be closer than some may think
Cox Mill 20 South Iredell 14
Hickory Ridge (7-2,5-0) at West Cabarrus (3-6,2-3)
Hickory Ridge will look to start fast like they have done all season long. The Bulls average 17 a game in the first quarter alone, and average well over 300 yards a game total. Bulls balanced attack is lead by dual threat QB Alex Bentley, who in all honesty reminds me A LOT of Josh Ladowski from a few years ago at lake Norman. West Cabarrus is coming in off a big loss on the road at Hough, and will look to rebound vs their county rival. On offense the Wolverines have a ton of speed…. Hopper is an absolute burner and has big play ability. But penalties have been a bit of an issue, and they may have a hard time establishing the run vs a stout Bulls front 7.
Hickory Ridge 41 West Cabarrus 17
Concord (6-2) at AL Brown (4-5)
The bell game… not a lot needs to be said here. AL Brown looks for 7 straight over the Spiders. Concord, fresh off a SPC title, will look to end the streak and carry the momentum into a playoff run!
AL Brown 23 Concord 20
Mooresville (5-4,4-1) at Lake Norman (7-2, 4-1)
Arguably the biggest game in the league with the most riding on it. Playoff implications galore here. As stated before, winner gets the 2 spot from the GM4. But then you factor in the rivalry here? This is shaping up to be one of the most epic versions of this rivalry yet. Can LKN stop the big play Blue Devil offense? Can the Blue Devils stop the triple option the Wildcats run? Two very contrasting styles… I think it could come down to whoever has the ball last! But I think y’all know who I’m picking here.
