He said it's been built with a rock solid foundation and that it's a process and that one day our best would be good enough to beat their best. Then he made some sort of odd looking chopping motion with his hands and said see y'all next year - not sure what that meant...

Edit: as of 12:41 pm, this has 11 likes. This is way more than I've had on any other post, lol. As I've said many times and even started a long thread on back when the arrest/email-gate revelations were made, I'd take Greg back in a heartbeat. Would love to see how he'd recruit with the B1G behind him and I'd love to see if he's truly learned the things he says he learned in the SI article, especially with regard to micromanaging less (especially his assistants) and being a bit more open minded to others' views. Best coach we ever had and 90% responsible for rescuing our program from the abyss, raising it to respectability and relevance, and getting us a beautifully renovated/expanded stadium and into the best conference in the sport.

He was simply on in an analyst role and was asked basic hot topic NFL questions.
Zero about him personally (unless I missed the beginning).

He was only on long enough to correct the pronunciation of his last name (shee-ANN-o, not shee-AH-no) and give his opinion on Romo's return to the Cowboys. Also talked quite a bit about Teddy Bridgewater. All NFL stuff.

Didn't really say much...but let me tell you, I miss the guy.
Listening to him then listening to Flood...Ugh.
+1. Didn't listen, but I know what you mean. I think Flood handles himself very well at the mic, but big difference between him and GS talking football and life. When Flood speaks, he's a guy you want to play for, when Greg speaks, he's a guy you want to run through a wall for.

Not correcting him on the the pronunciation of his own name, but wouldn't the correct, from the old country, way be (skee-ah-no)?

Lynch mob permeates every thread, even those not about our current coach.
Shift, I know you're on a role here about this stuff but a thread about Greg (our former coach and a possible future coach) is of course going to include comments about Flood.

We don't want to kill Fudd, we want him told his services are no longer needed.
That's fine, and I am on board. But some folks need to give it a rest. Every thread that does not have anything to do with our current coach does not need the same message. It's tiresome. You will find few people this board who are not on board, but you will find many people who are tired of the lynch mob's antics and constant drumbeat.

I have said before and will continue to do so "We have a Coach". When and if we don't RU would be fortunate to get Coach Schiano back! It takes a special kind of individual to handle this job. NJ is unique in that we eat our own. Coach has the ability to muddle through the quirks and the ability to handle the politics. It's more than coaching a football team in NJ. Sorry but our politicians stink and a large portion of our fan base are on and off the wagon. Coach brought it all together last time. We would be lucky to have him again!

i find it pretty to ignore things i find "tiresome". the only thing worse than whining is those who whine about whining.

His family can say their name however they want, but this is the correct Italian pronunciation.

True, but I get a little miffed when people say I don't pronounce my last name correctly! Really? Since I know who my father is, I pronounce it as he does. Oh, so does his brother.

As an Italian American whose great grandfather changed our last name at Ellis Island to look "less Italian" it just creates more confusion...

To me Ski-ano is easier, but we Italians have a way of making everything harder...
