Biggest shocking development of the season for me is how 5 has improved into looking like a late 1st rounder, while 2's game has fallen off a cliff

That one in the coffin corner when he just stood there with the follow through right in front of our bench, loved it

Booker is full on November Bricker, Aaron hasnt been on save the occasional game every 2 weeks all year long, Dakari is just a mess even with 50+ lb and 6 in advantages in the post. The 5 who are on are playing awesome, and they might be enough...but damnit having our 2 best shooters shooting worth an ish makes this unnecessarily harder than it should be.
When we win it all it will be because we are the deepest, most talented team in the country. When KAT and An got **** right it was game over for the field. At times, we are going to have 1/2/3 players off and Dakari is going to be a soggy **** sandwich every game but we still have 6-8 McD's AA's doing what they do. That doesn't even take into account that we have the best defense in the country. We all will be nervous but if we stay healthy we're winning 9.

- That's the great thing about March- it always brings back memories. I'm sure your uncle would be loving this season, 73.

- People pay far too much attention to the 1st round in the brackets. If you're E8 and F4 are still around, you're fine. It's the people who went all in with Iowa State or Baylor who need to be worried. What I'm saying is...I LIKE MY BRACKET.

You would think Zona is an awful matchup for the Bucks. They have two tremendous 6'7" defenders they can throw at Russell.

BUT maybe Russell has a 2003 E8 Dwyane Wade game in him...

Oh, and did LSU get screwed on the buzzerbeater? Pretty sure NC State's guy hit the rim for offensive goaltending.

Nice article of Bobby Hurley.

That whole family amazes me. Dad is, perhaps, "pound-for-pound," the best coach in all of basketball. He's had a dozen or more opportunities to jump to the collegiate level (along with a huge pay increase) and turned down every one. And Dan and Bobby, with all their name recognition, got into the coaching ranks about as "old school" of a way as you can. Dan getting a high school job, then moving onto a low D-1 program (Wagner) before getting promoted to a decent mid-major (Rhode Island). Bobby gets an assistant job with his brother before taking over a bad, low D-1 program (Buffalo), where of course he's now crushing it.

It's almost like, despite their name, they want to do things as blue collar/difficult as possible, just to prove they can.

Someone like Bama or Arizona State needs to take a chance on Bobby Hurley. That dude is going to be a star. His Buffalo team was as well-prepared to play us this year as anyone.

- I have the Utes beating Duke, but after watching them last night, feel that was a turrible call. Utah has great metrics but I wasn't impressed.

- Was tough seeing Moreira in that press conference.

That's the thing --> are their names going to come up? Surely they will at some point, but it's crazy how easily they get overlooked, I guess.

Again, it's like they WANT to take the difficult road. I mean, Richard Pitino turned his name and a so-so year at FIU into a million dollar gig in a great basketball conference. Meanwhile, the Hurleys are coaching mid-or-low-major gigs and crushing it. They have my utmost respect.

And I'll throw out another plug for a GREAT basketball book, for those who haven't read it:

I thought it was pretty clear he didn't. Clean play all around.

Unlike the goaltending call on SMU, where depending on the angle it could of gone either way. Although that ball had no chance in hell of going in regardless if it was going to hit the rim or not. It certainly wouldn't of been in the cylinder. The ref chairman or whatever you want to call him had a terrible take on that.

Umm welllll, you just can't be certain if that ball hit that rim it wouldn't of bounced up and gone in. I do recall the AC kicking on right about the same time and the initial gust might of pushed it right in. You just don't know.

Did we look sharp last night? No.

Get it though. 10:30 tip. Hang around all day ready to play and then you become lethargic. Not to mention hanging around an extra 40 minutes bc of the Cincy vs Purdue OT.

Don't overanalyze it.

Who said Aaron has played poorly? That's nonsense. He may not be shooting the three at a super high clip but he's playing a solid overall game & that's what Cal wants. He doesn't want him to be just a jump shooter. Thought he played very well in Nashville.

Andrew looks so confident out there. He steps into those 3's with no hesitation... Bam.

We have to get Bricker's confidence back. Think he's getting somewhat exposed on D an it's affecting his overall confidence.

We'll come out clicking on all cylinders on Saturday and if you don't get that by now you don't know this team.

Yep. I understand wanting someone to prove himself, but sometimes a guy just has "it" sort of like Harbaugh. Hurley has a great pedigree and may have been the smartest basketball player I've ever seen on the floor. PLUS, he has built in recruiting connections to one of the Top 3-5 talent goldmines in the country.

What if your pool isn't run by a rational person and the scoring isn't "equal" for every round?

Normal: 1-2-4-8-16-32 = All rounds are weighted equally at 16.6%

My Office: 2-3-5-8-13-21 = 28% first round; 21%; 17%; 14%; 11%; 9%.

Then I'd be doing OK in that pool.

Last night proved that we have trouble getting up for a play-in 16 seed in a game that starts at 10:30 pm. Definite cause for alarm the next time we play one of those. But the thing is: we won't, not this year anyway.

Agree on Hurley. Didn't realize that he and Laettner didn't exactly get along until I watched the 30 For 30 last weekend. I was very impressed with Buffalo when we played them in November. You could tell that was a legit team and would make some noise in March. It said more about them than about us, IMO. I have them in the Sweet 16. Wish they had a different path after that, because I'd root for them.

Traveling / constant meetings the week after SECT sucks. Wish it had been avoidable. Haven't been able to read / digest / post, practically at all. In March, the rest of the world should stop spinning.

Every NCAA Tourney bracket is won by the guy who has the most accurate Final Four. The 1st round is meaningless. TS. In fact, I think every bracket pool should award bonus points for picking an upset (ex: the bonus points are equal to the difference in the seeds), or just simply award 2nd place to whoever has the most accurate 1st round. By the time the Elite 8 rolls around, it's there's really only 1 or two variables that determine who wins.

- Hurley's gameplan against us back in November seems to NOW be the common smartplan by coaches now. Just shows you how good he is.

- Great piece by Charles Pierce on last nights' games. Particularly enjoyed this take on LSU:

Five games decided by one point in one day for the first time in the tournament's history. Georgia State wins a game and Harvard scares North Carolina right down to the tar in its heels. And, in Pittsburgh, where Northeastern nearly beat Notre Dame, we wrapped things up with the always entertaining LSU Tigers, who can find more ways to lose a game than you ever might think possible, and found some new ones last night. The Tigers are a staggering pile of raw talent with all the internal coherence of a rockslide. Johnny Jones is their coach. At least, that's what it says in the program, and Jones does have that primo seat right there in the front row next to the players. But, as nearly as could be determined from where I was sitting, LSU was being coached by its own whims, or by a fractious committee meeting somewhere behind its own eyeballs, or by voices from the Beyond.

Made 14 bets yesterday (idiotic)....and came out +$3. #win

Back for more today.

-Like anyone else, I root for the upsets...but I felt terrible for Iowa St. for some reason. Maybe b/c I like them, dunno. They had a chance to make a special run, and boom ---->

Shared a pee with a cyclone fan, and he was just torn up. I was pumping him up, along with their program. Overheard him telling his boys later on, trying to pump them up. There was one dude at their table who sat there and stared into space with his beer, and didn't move or say a word over about 2 hours while everyone around him was still talking and trying to make the best of it. Reminded me of how I would have been in that situation. Ugh.

-Wish we'd have gotten the 5pm game, but whatever.

-What's everyone like today?

We've all been there. Can still remember being a complete zombie in Lex after that West Virginia loss. Lost my soul for a night.

Remember it like it was yesterday. Me, you, and Basler basically looking like we just watched our dog get run over.

-How sad is that Ira Combs news? Just spent the last 30 minutes reading Tweets & a few articles about it...seems like he was unanimously loved all over this state & beyond.

Hate that for Big O, what terrible timing.

I honestly don't think UC will get 45 against us. Prepare for an ugly game, though. Would be a nice time for Aaron and Booker to bust out.

By the by, despite my Booker whining, how good have our PGs been of late?

Slump or not, God damn I really hope I get to see Booker play basketball at Kentucky next year. I might be gay for him, candidly.

WVU got me like for the rest of eternity because of that game. Not happy about their bracket placement. I will be in shambles if they meet us.
