we're ALL immigrants. and pretty recently, too. its like sneaking in a room, then closing and locking the door behind you. if not for immigration, we wouldn't be here.

radical religious types can get pumped. so can anyone who can't tell the difference between a normal muslim/christian/jew/buddhist and a fanatical one.

anth -- your relative jeremy is a complete assclown. he reads and posts here, no? whew.

i got blocked on fb last week. frat bro. his status was something like "send me, chuck norris, and a bunch of nukes over and let's wipe out the entire middle east. muslim isn't a religion it's a reason to die!" my word for word response was "you're an idiot." and now im blocked. lol.

Who was it?

...France couldn't tell the difference with the Syrian Refugee who unleashed hell on Paris, so I guess they can get pumped.

Yes, and he's one of the flag carrying numbskulls.

During this convo I logged onto my ancestry account for the first time in 3 years. Some new updates. 2nd Great Grandfather is from Baden-Württemberg, Germany and 2nd Great Grandmother is from Breman, Germany. Be a cool trip to hit Sicily and Germany on a little ancestor trip. Much better than the other lines that intertwine around central Kentucky and central Alabama for a couple hundred years.

^ I've thought about doing that, wasn't it you who pimped that site a few years ago?

Seems like it would be a pretty interesting journey.

Anth, sorry your family couldn't get decent gravy in the 1950's. My people have *actually* been suffering for over 150 years. Prick.

Bloody Monday was August 6, 1855, in Louisville, Kentucky, an election day, when Protestant mobs attacked German and Irish Catholic neighborhoods. These riots grew out of the bitter rivalry between the Democrats and the nativist Know-Nothing Party. Multiple street fights raged, leaving twenty-two people dead, scores were injured, and much property was destroyed by fire. Five people were later indicted, but none were convicted, and the victims were not compensated.

Got my Global Entry today, figured I'd celebrate with some Montgomery Inn ribs. Did get broccoli instead of mac cheese.

Massage later this afternoon, probably pick up some dry age ribeyes for tonight. #fat

Is anyone going to the Charlotte game? Like I think I know 5 people tops. Smh

Pretty much anybody who doesn't agree with your viewpoints is an idiot. I speak from a position of knowledge.

Zoolander 2 looks promising.

No prob. As you can see 1/4 German and 1/4 Irish. It's been a tough fight.

On my dad's side, my great, great, great, great grandfather was born in Kentucky in 1822. His dad moved to the area from Virginia/Maryland right around the time Kentucky became a state. It gets murky back before that, but we likely came over in the 1600's.

It makes you a better person if you let everyone know you're a uk fan BUT you are against people getting brain tumors. You still need to get those good person credit points from strangers on the Internet

"I'm a UK fan, but.." is a close cousin to "I don't agree with his politics, but..."

Oh, you disliking Obamacare doesn't have any correlation to your affinity for "Dancing in the Dark"?

Interesting.

seriously though- guaranteed doc was the only one there at 11 ordering ribs

Actually there was. Ribs were ok, not nearly as good as mine. TS

Happy for Kyle, sounds like he'll be fine.

Ancestry can be fun, although I'd rather hang my hat on my own accomplishments.

I got mom an ancestry.com membership last year and she loved it. I wasn't as thrilled as it confirmed my suspicions that the vast majority of my family has been toiling away in the same couple hollers for about three hundred years. Tracking the Cherokee lineage was the most interesting by far.

Anth..no offense, but your analogy w/ other nationalities is off base at this time. Not saying it hasn’t applied in the past, and could very likely happen again in the future, but now….not even close. Sure, there will always be a fanatical Timothy McVeigh out there, but now it is one group that takes priority and we all should be watching over our shoulders.

How are you going to judge these people? Seriously? How many more Boston and Paris episodes need to happen? I have awesome neighbors who are from Pakistan but I can’t help be suspicious when they have their “parties” a couple of times a month. It’s called human nature given the events of the past and present. This has ZERO to do with helping others, and everything to do with protecting our country.

I am not going to clog up beloved GYERO and get Chad in a tizzy, but if we all aren’t paying attention, then our fault. We can’t afford not to at this point. I leave for Vegas Saturday morning and I can’t say I am not a tad uncomfortable about flying. We shouldn’t have to live our lives in fear, but when you have people who strap on a belt and are willing to take themselves out along with hundreds of others, then it isn’t quite that easy.

Thank you for providing an example of the exact people I'm referring to.

Also, it's not just one group we're fighting in the war in terrorism example being the Boston and Paris episodes are completely different groups.
