This looks interesting. KET will show a film about the creation of the Rupp Arena complex.

http://www.kentucky.com/news/local/news-columns-blogs/tom-eblen/article48652240.html

As Lexington Center Corp. developed plans for a proposed $250 million renovation and expansion, it also commissioned a film celebrating the creation of Rupp Arena and the adjacent hotel, convention center and shopping complex four decades ago.

Game Changer: The Lexington Center Story premieres Dec. 13 on Kentucky Educational Television, which will show it 10 more times through Jan. 28. (Check Ket.org for times and channels.)

Game Changer, produced by Arthur Rouse and narrated by Ralph Hacker, features interviews with many leaders of the 1970s construction effort. It is an informative hour for anyone interested in the histories of University of Kentucky basketball or downtown development.

Preseason NIT back when that was THE tourney.

Coach O was on that team, btw. Sean Miller as well.

Rupp has given standing ovations to an opponent's player 3 times that I can remember. David Robinson, Ron Slay, & that dude from Texas A&M that lit us up for 40 plus in 2013.

That's pretty amazing, IMO. What other fanbase would even think of doing this?
Number four and number five need to be coming. If we don't get the f*** up and show out for Jaquan Lyle and Antonio Blakeney I'll be extremely disappointed. That would be a top five Rupp moment for me.*

*I mean assuming we have a good season so my sweet memories aren't tarnished.

I remembered O, because of the story about the bullet in his head, and Miller. But, I didn't remember Morningstar until you wrote his name.

Lol, Morningstar basically beat us by himself. He was mini-Laettner that game, and was a complete nobody coming in...

I don't know but I think the most red *** Rupp has been was at the end of the South Carolina Senior Day game in 97. The officials were lucky to leave alive.

I sat behind Mike Glaser, Bernard Jackson, and a couple other X players at that game. I assume Jackson was on a recruiting visit. Toucher openly rooted against UK the whole game.

Screw him. Screw Tennessee. And screw South Carolina.

like the football team does all the time, company just sent out a message offering dirt cheap UL basketball tickets for all their remaining December games. And oh what a slate it is!

  • Dec. 12, 2 p.m. — Eastern Michigan
  • Dec. 16, 7 p.m. — Kennesaw State
  • Dec. 19, noon — Western Kentucky
  • Dec. 22, 9 p.m. — UMKC
  • Dec. 23, 7 p.m. — Utah Valley

I'm sure this same desperate plea for bodies to fill the seats have gone out to all the other large river city employers. wonder how many unsold tickets the have had for their awful schedule so far this season? Like i said they do this for football every season several times, can't remember them having to do it for HOFCRP team before.

Anybody else's mom (or other family member) ask for a list of a few gift ideas, then proceed to go off the wall and get you something you would never use or even asked for?

My mom does this and it infuriates me. I've tried to be respectful the last couple years and not say anything, but I'm gonna let her have it this year.

My mom is the type that tries too hard to be thoughtful or whatever. It's worked out exactly once (cuff links with pieces of memorial coliseum floor).

Asked for a simple sand wedge. Wife figured out today that she wasn't getting it, when that's the only thing I asked for from her.

She does it with every kid in the family. It's one of those "you have to know her" kind of things.

She is ignoring what Christmas is all about: exchanging list of items that cost the roughly the same amount.

When you play Dirty Santa / White Elephant / Yankee Swap, I bet she's the one that doesn't bring a Target gift card equal to the spending amount to boot!

Honestly, I really don't care much for Christmas-the commercial holiday anymore. Sure, when you're a kid it's great. Pretty much when I got my toys for the year outside of the birthday or report cards (Only for straight A's, none of this participation ****. Sprinkles are for winners.)

As an adult, it just feels like another tax. At least my family and I have started giving gift cards unless somebody actually wants something. Will spoil my niece, and that is actually fun.

Then there is the gift etiquette, somebody buys you something that you hadn't really thought about giving anything. Are you sort of obligated now to buy them something, even though they gave you something dumb you don't even want?

I do enjoy going to church, seeing the decorations, and having time with the family. But the commercial aspect of it can get pumped. Christmas is for kids, and the retailers trying to sell you a Holly Jolly Christmas-you need to buy our stuff!!!

Give me Thanksgiving all air.

The one annual item that has stood the test of time for me is pajama pants. I have about 6-7 pairs in the rotation, and all Christmas gifts from Mom. #blessed

As for her, for many years running I've gotten her one of these rascals for Christmas. She absolutely worships. Decent collection going, actually.

-Parents buy me the most random crap, similar to the pogo stick BBdk's dad got him 10 years ago. I really don't want presents at this stage of my life. BOOZE, deodorant, socks, shaving creme, razors... are the best gifts I get. Kind of silly for people over 30, who are not in a relationship, to give real gifts IMO.

Flybar 1200 is on Amazon Prime for $280...things have really come down in price over the years, now is the time to steal one if you've been in the market but scared off by the price.

- When did sweatpants get so damn expensive?

- It's time to retired the damn 3-goggles in your pics, BillyJoe and MaryKate Wildcat. It's been 4-5 years. Just smile or even throw up a #1.

- Would like to think Adam is joking, but I would like to think that about nearly all of his posts.

- Would be nice if we came out balling tonight. I'm looking at you, Jamal.

Brand new set of quality white undershirts, dark socks, or boxer briefs can NOT be beaten at this point. TS.
This is the sweet spot for gifts for any guy. Things I dont particularly want to go out and buy, but use every day. The perfect gift. To be honest, i dont think I own a pair of boxers or socks that ive bought myself.

I always look forward to the annual purge of the old white t-shirts and socks every January. Replace them all with the fresh loot from the holidays and keep it moving.

Kinda bummed about NYC forecast to be honest. Highs in the mid-high 50s around Christmas time can get pumped imo...was looking forward to peacoat, scarf, and toboggan.

Plus, around here those temps usually mean rain & muddy yards, which sucks for the little doggies.

-I get cards with money from pretty much everyone, assume I always will. I don't need gifts, but a little extra bread is always appreciated.
