Speaking of hating someone so much that you block it out, Jim Calhoun has to be on that list.

He's done now, but he sure as hell stole two titles from us during that stretch.

I know the proper plays for blackjack but playing a hunch happens.

Crying about improper play is annoying. Besides that, I think with 7 decks in the shoe, the 3rd base player doesn't really matter anymore. Yeah, you might see him take a dealers bust card but the math says it is still just as random I believe.

******** at the blackjack table (and $10 minimums) are why the craps table is king.

Ended up about even this past trip. Seems like there is always some beginner that invariably sits on 3rd base and draws the ire of the table with some stupid hit that pulls the dealers bust card. Honestly thought the guy next to me was gonna get thrown out at Caesars. Dude was livid. Just rode the poor bastard until he eventually left. Was pretty damn funny.

Guess what....dealer could have busted, regardless, especially in a 6-8 deck shoe. Biggest myth in the casino is the so called "bad player" at Blackjack hurting others. You falling into this belief supports your inability to play as well. You better stick to War.

And just for the hell of it....here is an expert...

Rack. Casino dbags are the worst.

Unless you're in some VIP high roller room, have fun or get pumped. (or learn to read a table and GTFO)

One title is Calhoun's while Cal was here. Brad Stevens did a helluva job at Butler so he's somewhere very close.

You're GD right he's getting the Tubby treatment. Calhoun is absolutely responsible for that '14 squad, starving Shabazz Napier, 9/11, etc.

Can't stand that MFer.

There's certainly room for a hunch, or aggressive play, or even conservative play, but blatant disregard for basic strategy is another story (i.e. splitting 10's, taking a risk hit against dealer's 6, etc.)

Yea, it may be the $10 minimum table, but at least try to play according to the "rules." It's just disruptive when folks don't, even if the odds say differently.

^ and if you see that, or are playing next to some idiot that annoys you consistently ----> leave the table. Pretty simple. You stay there and get hammered, it's your own damn fault...Casino GAMBOL is as much about "vibe/feel" as anything, considering you have a handle in the rules/play/strategy of your preferred game.

Yeah I wasn't the one pitching a fit. I thought the whole thing was funny. The guy next to me was the one getting pissed off.

Learn reading.

But I wouldn't consider hitting a 15 with the dealer showing a 6 a "smart play."

Forget Izzo and Self, or whoever else (Ryan, Calhoun, etc.), it's Cal, K, and Pitino as the Top 3, and it's not really debatable. Pitino has done more with less than any of them. Cal has done less with more. K has done what he does, despite Chad's objections. Cal should have at least 2 titles in his 7 years, probably 3. The way it's worked out, he could easily have 4. We're like the 90s Braves.

rounder like me, it's hard to find a serious game anymore. every time i head to the boat, i end up next to some overweight midwesterner whale who's in town on a business trip. poor guy is liquored up, poorly dressed in his loose fitting collegiate gear, and trying to show off for some young bimbo.

he's big blind, check raises all night, uses his porsche key fob as a marker, and doesn't know pocket rockets from a hole in his ***. should be playing tight aggressive, but gets fast and loose, and goes on tilt, trying to win back his money on bad real estate deals or catastrophic events of uninsured luxury items. splashing pots, advertising his tells like a flashing billboard, trying desperately to spot the sucker when he is the sucker.

idiot thinks he's the next texas dolly, but gave up on super systems somewhere around chapter 3, presumably because he was on call that weekend. you know what they say. in the poker game of life, doctors are the rake. they are the f'ing rake.

You're at a casino on the strip. Couldn't find more green players if you went to a blackjack 101 class. If you don't like it, only 10,000 other tables within 2 miles. Douche.

I'll pass along your thoughts to the random stranger I sat next to at Caesars next time I'm there.

This is touching KSR redneck caller closet card fan touchboi ******** is what this is.

I could digress into the genius, yet, challenging road that Cal has blazed by embracing young talent and changing college bball...and the unbelievably difficult job he has made look easy, adjusting on the fly from team to team in the face of a flawed system.

Or give credit to a past-his-prime coach who took advantage of a flawed system by bastardizing the game to the point they felt they needed to change the rules...and used a win at all costs administration and whores to convince just enough talent to play for him to execute his system at the highest level.

But I won't.

To be fair I would still include Rick in my top 5, but 73's statement is bull butter.

I love Calipari. I think he'll end up right behind next to Rupp as the greatest UK coach in history. He should have at least 2 titles by now though, and arguably 3-4. He's probably a victim of his own success, but his "coaching" lost the game last season to Wisconsin, no other way around it. And his "coaching" and inability to figure out WVU's zone cost us a for sure title in 2010. I'll give on the 2011 and 2014 titles b/c both were amazing runs, but the titles were there for the taking and we didn't get it done. 2010 and 2015 hurt. Should've racked at least 1 of those 2 seasons. But as a recruiter and promoter, he has no equal.

Not sure the parameters of this argument as I apparently have hid whoever started it, but we have the same top 3 and I consider Coach K #2 GOAT, so what's the problem?

Lol. Look at the rows Calipari has had to hoe in the tournament at UK. Dude hasn't gotten a good bracket since he got here.

Six years ago it was "impossible" to win with team anchored by freshmen. Now, he should have 3-4 titles.

Horse *****.

Georgia with a ridiculous comeback after LSU put it in to cruise control. Had a guy wide open at the basket for the tie but took a 15 footer and missed.

[eyeroll] at leaving Pitino off any list during that timeframe, arguably the best "coaching" of his entire career, in fact.

GYERO is better than that, except for Bristol and probably Chad.

Get real.

K
Cal

^ this is close, could definitely argue Cal overall (Final 4s, recruiting, contending EVERY year but 1), but hard to argue against 2 titles, even if the rest has been marginal.

Pitino
Self
Izzo
Serious question: Are we just counting on-the-court success? I was factoring off-the-court stuff and the fact that Louisville is probably about to get carpet-bombed with sanctions into my list. It's not Pitino's fault, but it's happened throughout the time-frame being discussed. If we're not counting that stuff then absolutely. I had Pitino at #3 and then thought about the current state of each program and accounted for that. Not trying to be a homer. Pitino has coached his *** off over the last 5 years.

We have only been the unquestioned favorites going into the tourney twice with Cal and are 1-1 as far as championships. 10 had a fatal flaw that was bound to bite them. 11 and 14 had great runs after meh regular seasons only to run out of gas and also probably they let the moment get the best of them in the end.

We are doing alright.
