Yeah, it's huge...How much of that is press?
Didn't see much reaction from the guys up there, or maybe I just missed it.
Was Kyle Tucker cool with the improvements or nah? Need a KGAR insider breakdown for GYERO, imo. Dude seemed pretty giddy, happy for him...has to be a cool experience being up there.
One of the coolest sports experiences I've ever had. When you get off the elevator you walk to what is basically a cafeteria seating area where the food, drinks, popcorn, ice cream is (all complimentary, good lord i pigged out). Three huge flatscreen with games on while you eat. Its an interesting dynamic, a lot like high school with the "clicks", the KSR crew was definitely avoided by some of the media.
Press row itself has three rows of stadium type seating, my spot is down low between Drummond and Freddie Maggard, was pretty cool chatting with them during the game about the plays, etc. Freddie is actually about as nice of a dude as their is, honestly. He said the reason he went to KSR is simply because they asked him, nobody had ever asked him to write/contribute before.
Another cool aspect is you have a PA announcer within the room announcing yardage, tackles, obscure stats that you can throw in your writing such as when Boom went over 100 they announced its his 2nd consecutive game over 100 going to last year, MacGinnis first FG was 10 straight, new UK record, etc. After each quarter they drop off updated stats to everyone and ask us who we want to interview after the game, gonna make sure i do that for the Florida game.
Funny though, as the game starts they announce "
this is a WORKING press box, absolutely no cheering allowed, you will be removed"
Halftime was just one giant networking event while Chicken Parmesan was consumed in Mass Quantity, pretty fun though, chatted with Tom Leach for a while during it, dude is large and in charge. Just odd seeing all these guys you've read and watched on TV basically all together in a room hanging out.
the ONLY bad part is that it is nearly soundproof, even during Boom's run it was more of a low roar in the press box.
One thing i will say about Matt Jones... I get why he and Kyle Tucker don't get along, there is A LOT of Patrick Bateman from American Psycho in that dude.
