actually, conventional wisdom is completely non existent in today's sports. take a billy joe wildcat poll after any loss, and they're ready to fire everyone, including the school president. then "back the brinks truck up" and hire jon gruden, of course.

i live for hating conventional wisdom, but in this case....yeah.

Which one doesn't belong? I mean, there has to be some previous success.

Well considering we've ruled college basketball at the very very very very top in 3 different decades, you'd be wrong. Once you experience success like that, you know what makes it go and what doesn't work. It takes a very special person to be UK's coach. And it's pretty easy to eff up.

And if the schools are going to bleed the 3 aforementioned groups of every dollar possible for their inflated coaching salaries and ridiculous facilities, they should be more receptive when there's such outcry.

Damn LSU boosters are prepared to pay the 15-20M buyout 100%

Is this the job Gary Patterson finally jumps for?

brett hait once wrote an article about how much bruce pearl was robbed by having to share the sec coy award with billy gillispie. i wish i had the gyero transcript from that day, so we could all remember just how trustworthy fans are. the ones who were embarrassed by the indignity of the worlds greatest coach having to -- GASP -- share the coy award with such an inferior tactician.

fans, by and large, are idiots.

I'm talking about 3 separate groups, not some jerkoff like me.

If there's overwhelming support from those 3, they get my benefit of the doubt.

People, by and large, are idiots. But I know my family. And I know my basketball team. That's pretty much all I need to know.

The Billy Gillispie era ended when he lost to Gardner Webb. Thanks for playing chump.

and when we lost to ut in the final game of the 07 season, you absolutely destroyed that sorry ***, slow footed quarterback of ours. curtis pulley, per YOU, would never have been sacked in overtime by jerod mayo to finish the regular season. the drop back qb was a thing of the past, and the era of the spread option qb was upon us. curtis pulley was our future.

per you.

(thanks for the ride home, btw)

I mean, doesn't he have any friends? I would hope anyone I call a pal would tell me how ridiculous I look walking around in that get-up. Then again, he's had that unfortunate buttcutt for the past two decades so nevermind.

Mitch Barnhart and Tom Crean should be at the same school together and that school should be anywhere but here.

Tuesday Randos:

- Last day before a 5-day weekend filled with sports and booze and food and friends and family. [banana]

- Ben Simmons is must-watch TV. I'm not going to get hyperbolic or anything compared to other great freshmen, but I'd say he's easily the best player in college basketball this year. Has a little too much LeBron in him, though- needs to learn to be more selfish, especially with the game on the line. I don't trust Jones any further than I can throw him, but Simmons is good enough- especially in a year like this- to put 5-seed on his back and take them to the F4.

- UNC can't stop Northwestern honks off the bounce- how the hell are they going to deal with UK's trio or Grayson Allen or, hell, even Frank Mason? And that doesn't improve with Paige. If you're a UNC fan, you have to hope Justin Jackson becomes a star and that he and Paige are so good, they make up for your flaws. I just think stopping the bounce and protecting the rim is so important these days.

- Indiana- lol. They make UNC look like '96 UK on D. Their games are fun, though. I'll give them that.

- Wonder if "Creed" will be any good. I love Michael B. Jordan.

- I understand Cal's stance, but I sure miss the days of UK being in these holiday tourneys.

- I'm such a college basketball that I listen to it anyway, but Parrish/Norlander/Vecenie are awful on the CBS CBB podcast.

- Watched "The Hunting Ground"- the documentary on sexual assaults on college campuses, which featured an interview with the girl who accused Jameis Winston. Very sad. The dude did it and FSU and the Tallahassee police didn't do **** about it. Makes you sick. This girl didn't even know his name or who the hell he was until she saw him in class at the start of the next semester and roll was being called. Oh well- enjoy your title, Noles.

If you gave LSU's team to Bruce Pearl, we'd be terrified. TS.

Also, these 9:00 games can eat a pecker. I get wound up and can't go to bed until midnight or later. All games should start at 6:00 so I have time to eat my early bird special and settle down with a nice Alka Seltzer and water for a nightcap.

With a 5 month old that is still waking two to three times a night I am lucking to even have my eyes open by 9pm these days.......shew wee they weren't lying when they said it would be a big change...

Hell I fell asleep two minutes into the third quarter of the Charlotte game.

Need some speed I guess.

Used to love as a kid when the 5 day Thanksgiving break occurred and school bedtime went out the window, could stay up late watching midnight Great Alaska Shootout tipoffs

Wayne Turner getting lost on a husky pulled bobsled, shame that thing has gone away

They wouldn't sell to ESPN so ESPN used its power and influence to marginalize them into obscurity.

Hornsby & Arizona transfer Craig Victor are also about to join, 2 probable starters.

They'll be good despite Jones. Quarter man, Blakeney. They're pretty loaded.
