amazing watching that Tim Couch reel, nice to see actual strategy. Stretch the boundaries with screens and dump offs, then once the defense extends wide hit them deep in the middle.

Football isn't brain surgery.

On one side of the ball. Defense, not so much.

I guess it's kinda nice that they have to come to Rupp Arena in only four weeks and hopefully get blown out by our basketball team. For all the gnashing of teeth over football, regardless of which team wins, they're both still irrelevant. That's not the case in basketball.

2 things that UK Football has never recovered from..

* Bear Bryant vs Adolph Rupp ego battle.

* Fran Curci - He had us rolling and then got caught cheating while the rest of the conference continued cheat their
tail off. We were just doing what every other SEC school was doing. TS.

Not here to argue, but defensive strategy is much easier once you look competent on offense.

Overall I don't think our defense was so awful this year. But not having a strategy for a running QB is slightly pathetic. Dak and Dobbs certainly could make the throws but I'm not sure in the conditions we had yday that Jackson shouldn't have been facing more zone scheme with an edge blitz forcing him to throw or to the short side on his scrambles. He honestly got more than half his yards on pass plays that he ran on when our secondary was in man to man and not even watching the kid.

If you want to criticize mitch, have at it. I think most of it is typically ignorant but if it makes you feel better... so be it. However, for whatever reason Brady felt necessary to drag me into it.

YEAH BRADY - IF YOUR GOING TO CRITICIZE MITCH, THEN JUST GO AWAY AND LEAVE US REAL FANS ALONE!

:boxing::boxing:

Stoops and Co. have made zero adjustments this season for our ****** line and lack of protection for whoever is playing QB.

I can deal with losing, but not the total regression that we have experienced the last two years. Stoops said on the pregame show that they were getting better every week and that it is crucial to get the 6th win for a bowl game and the extra practice time. ********.

Hal Mumme went 20-26 and left us on heavy probation. Just for the record.

I completely agree on Stoops ineptitude after the Mizzou game. It's ridiculous and IMO he needs to move on Dawson, at least.

Louisville -7 2nd half was the lock of the year in college football -- pretty mad at myself for only putting $50 on it. Took Cards ML as well -- helped hedge a drunken bet I made with ABH on the game.

That 1Q was so damn fun tho, shew. Something awesome about watching a game in a poncho when you're winning imo. Section 4 was bonkers there for a bit...

-2 1st downs in the 2nd half. [laughing]

This staff has no ability to make in-game adjustments. Love him or hate him, one of the things I enjoyed about Brooks was his ability to make halftime adjustments to atleast put the team in a better position. This is where I think having someone more senior on Stoops staff would be beneficial.

We play Southern Miss in our first game next season. Entirely plausible that we could lose. What a miserable f'n season that would be if it happened.

we'd better be pretty gd certain that barker is the answer, because he sure as hell didn't show it yesterday.

best wishes to towles. great kid, and going to a (surprisingly) very good program, with a qb whisperer for a head coach.

I think it's best. The staff showed no ability to handle the QB situation this year and next would have been more of the same. Time to grow up, Drew.

However, I will say I've been critical of Pat (his play, not attitude or hair) the last couple years and watching Drew do the same stuff...fail to step up to avoid the rush and try to run outside and get sacked, hold the ball too long, and miss multiple open guys...well, starting to wonder if our coaches are more to blame.. Basic fundamentals under this staff are poor and that's obvious to even a non football like myself.

To echo Chase's statement, what was the game earlier in the year where Towles missed a super wide open WR in the end zone? Pretty costly IIRC, think he even tossed an INT instead.

Barker did the same thing. Definitely a lack of development and coaching

Towles wasn't exactly great but he was so much better than Barker it was ridiculous.

I'm also glad the kid is transferring. His hair and Harry Potter fandom or whatever were easy jokes but that kid seemed like a stand-up young man who played his *** off.

And he is a far better talent than Barker. Honestly, what can Barker do better than that kid other than shoot airsoft guns on campus and be a jackass? Certainly nothing on the football field.

This ain't Lorenzon over Bonner, folks. This is Pretty Good and Classy Kid over Eh, The Backup.

Can't wait. Why not?

They've beaten USC, Notre Dame, and UCLA already this season.

King Rice will be a hot name...

Hank,

Let's not get carried away here. Pat was a RS junior who had, what...15 picks to 9 TD's? And he was given every opportunity before finally getting the hook.

Good kid, good teammate, by all accounts, but it just wasn't working here for him. It's way too early to judge anything with Barker. People get all up in arms about the off field suff. Was it stupid? Sure. But at other SEC programs they would love for Drew Barker's "incidents" to be their worst off field problems...probably wouldn't even make the head coach's radar at UT or Bama.

I think Barker has talent and could be a pretty charismatic leader for this team...I'm concerned about whether any QB will be successful in this half assed offensive system we are running.
