I watched Love Actually for the first time yesterday. Other than the Billy Mack songs, I don't get the appeal.

I'm not sure that anyone can win here.

I will never understand this line of thinking.

Are we supposed to think that Mark Stoops and his staff are the only coaches in the history of college football who can recruit like this at UK? "Sure, they happen to be arguably the worst coaches in America, but hey, they can bring in top 30 recruiting classes, which NOBODY ELSE ON THE PLANET CAN DO SO I GUESS THAT MEANS WE'LL NEVER WIN."

Rich Brooks is the best on-field coach UK has had in the last quarter century, and he was 20+ games under .500 before he even got here. Look at this lineup of shitbag coaches:

Bill Curry: Terrible. Had losing record at Georgia Tech, had rocks thrown through his window at Alabama.

Hal Mumme: Fun, gimmicky, right place/right time... and never gave one thought to defense. Or adjustments. Lost at every FBS school he ever coached at.

Guy Morriss: Failed miserably at Baylor, and everywhere else he coached. Currently the assistant special teams coach at Nicholas County I think.

Rich Brooks: Likable, knew his X's and O's, and got the program to be respectable, but not exactly an ace recruiter. (Again, 20 games below .500 when he got here and 30 games below .500 when he left.)

Joker Phillips: LOL.

Mark Stoops: LOL, part 2.

UK has never prioritized football until recently and it showed. Make a competent hire of someone who hires a competent staff, and we can win 6/7 games a year. Maybe 8 in a good year, 5 in a bad year.

It can be done. We just haven't been smart enough to find the guy to do it yet.

Yeah, I don't think we can win Championships(not many schools can) here but there's really no reason we can't be competent. We were there just a few years back.

It's a never ending story with different chapters taking place in different eras with a different cast of characters but we all know the end result. Total incompetence. Goes to show you how good of a football coach Rich Brooks was considering how bad things were when he took over , to beat some of the teams he beat from 06-09 and to go bowling 4 straight years.

Here we are 3 years removed from Stoops' hire date and it's Yackety Sax all over again with a gloomy outlook for next season.

I've set aside December 23 to watch Star Wars. Figured the cosplayers will be weeded out by then and folks may be traveling for the holidays.

Dammit, I'm not ready to give up on Mark Stoops just yet.

Sure, we have been unorganized at times. Maybe we have lacked in the basic fundamentals from time to time. Perhaps our inability to score or stop other teams from scoring has been a bit frustrating here and there.

But guys, nobody can deny that our Jimmys and Joes are getting better. And I believe that Stoops wants to win. And that's a start, right there. That is exactly what that is.

With that start and that passion still in Stoops' belly, we can win 6 games in a couple of years. I truly believe that.

Probably not next year because of the schedule and football stuff that I don't understand. But soon. When those SEC caliber OL get in here and start bulldozing holes in the helpless DLs, I will be right there on my couch saying, "I told those negative ******** on GYERO it was just a matter of time."

Was the Florence Water Tower built in a day?

Turn off your microwaves and savor the slow cooked, delicious smoky flavor that is UK football working its way through the stall to get to 200 warm degrees of mediocrity.

Enjoy the process folks. [cheers]

Stoops and Co. crapped the bed down the stretch this year. It can't be argued otherwise. But if we're comparing him to Brooks, there's still hope. Everybody wanted Brooks gone after year 3. The "grizzled veteran" hired (and fired) Ron Hudson, who makes Shannon Dawson look like Bill Walsh. He had a lapdog defensive coordinator who was learning on the job. He had one foot out the door after the LSU debacle in 2005. They turned that season around and saved his job, but still needed a late goal line stand to beat Louisiana Monroe.

Stoops inherited a team with less talent than any of Brooks's teams. He's upgraded the talent considerably, particularly at the skill positions. The lines on both sides are still terrible. It takes time to develop a 2-deep roster of SEC-caliber linemen from scratch. He had no senior leadership, and the best players on the team were freshmen and sophomores.

The staff has shown that it can put together and execute a competent game plan. For whatever reason(s), the team fell apart this year. Alarming? No doubt. But history shows that things can change dramatically from year to year. Fingers crossed.

Got two little ones and tried to get them to watch the old Frosty cartoons this weekend. They looked at me like I crazy. Until Pixar remixes it with some doe eyed fairies and purple polka dotted monsters they arent having it. Mel Blanc is on his last legs.

I remember after Louisiana Lafayette gave us all we wanted, that someone associated with this program stated that ULL might not lose again. They're currently 4-7. They only topped the 33 points they scored against us three times all season and lost one of those.

UK CAN win. I mean Duke, Northwestern, and several other teams playing in Power conferences put together 7-8 win seasons now and again. If you expect that type of production year in and year out at UK, well that is on you. If you do not think hiring a winning / functional coach would not make a difference, I suggest you look at WKU. Yeah, yeah, yeah, they play in the ****** Conference USA, and Sunbelt before that, but few years after changing over from Division 2 or whatever they call it now, they are constantly posting winning records. No 4-5 stars to the side of the names, just good solid gritty, want to win, players and veteran coaches putting kids and a plan in place to win. They have a tough, determined qb who is a system qb and just plug unknown rb after unknown rb in after the one before either goes pro, gets hurt, or graduates. Higbee is the 3rd of 4th TE who will be drafted as a unknown. Maybe send a dump truck full of money up to Big Red Way and empty it in the WKU football coaches office. Nick Holt of all people is doing a damn fine job as DC, AFTER losing "They suppose to be SEC" and the other great linemen last year. The staff at WKU is a bunch of nobodies, but know the game of football and how to get the players to BELEIVE they can win. Hell hire the damn Athletic Director with them.

Muppet Christmas Carol remains my #1. All of your favorite Henson characters with the classic Dickens tale. Pretty hot soundtrack, as well.

Speaking of hot soundtracks, I booked the Nutcracker tickets this morning. Sunday matinee and taking our little girl with us. She'll absolutely love it... will be dope.

Didn't the losing start right about the time they got a NOA for pretty serious cheating?

"The scandal is the reason we arent ranked" is a pretty PC way to spin "If those recruits, who we still did not even sign, didnt get blown and sex'd by Katina and her kids- we may be a fringe top 25 team right now even though we havent played anyone worth a ****"

They started 2-4. Looks like they're just ******.
and the 1-AA EKU team that had us down 2 TD's with 7 minutes left fired their coach

anybody else got a measure for just how awful UK football 2015 was, we can't have mentioned them all yet?

South Carolina, 1 of our 2 SEC wins, lost at home to FCS powerhouse The Citadel.

This was our first conference road win in 5 years.
