I just want Stoops to hire an offensive guy who actually does what he wants to do, i.e., ball control. Be who you are. Bringing in up-tempo guys and then handcuffing them benefits no one and creates the CF we saw this year.

indeed.

big failure for stoops as the leader, imo.

again, im indifferent on dawson. but merely replacing him doesn't necessarily fix the problem. i don't think this is a ron hudson situation where the guy was clearly in over his head. just a really bad fit from the get go. ugh.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that when Bob Stoops brought in Leach and Mangino early in his OU tenure, he let them do their thing offensively. Mark clearly does not subscribe to that philosophy.

Philosophical differences should be vetted during the job interview process, not after a 12 game ****-the-bed season... Either Dawson was dishonest during the interviews or this is just another example of Stoops gross mismanagement that we witnessed on the field all season...

Think when push comes to shove Dawson is probably a good offensive mind but if you aren't allowed to do YOU, BRUH.... then WTF does it matter who you hire?

Next guy up gonna have the same effing problem, IMO. (A micromanager head coach who won't let the guy do what he's hired to do - coordinate the stupid offense) Hard to have any kind of identity going down that rabbit hole.

Wonder if we'd have a shot at hiring this Mike Dantonio fella?

On one hand, maybe Dawson is the type of coach who lies in an interview in the hopes nobody will notice.

On the other hand I present this *parade of Santa Clauses all carrying huge sacks into the courtroom, sacks filled with UK game tapes and interviews demonstrating that Mark Stoops is in over his head*.

I dunno. Tough call.

wildcatadam might be the biggest lightweight on this entire thread. some hilljack approaches him mid day at a speedway and asks for some change, and that pantywaist is so traumatized 6 years later he's still packing heat 24-7.

i could probably scratch my monitor over your post and my fingers would smell like rotten fish. what a *****.
Lol. 8 pm (dark). Harlan. Hospital parking lot.

I've "packed" maybe five times in four years.

Per usual, PTI makes up a story.

Dude was desperate to punch his golden ticket, said whatever Stoops wanted to hear in the interview. Couple years as an SEC OC, collect $500K a year, then on to a D1 head coaching job making $1-2M.

Want a slow offense and not fast like Dana & me did at WVU? And run the ball a bunch out of full set backfields for minimal gain to chew the clock & save your defense? Whatever you want coach, just gimme the bucks!

It's the Coach Cal model, except instead of players cashing huge checks after 1-2 seasons, it's coaches cashing huge buyouts after a few seasons.

The whole Air Raid stuff is exciting to talk about and no doubt got us all excited back in 2011 when Stoops was hired. We were desperate for excitement and instantly went back to the last time we were truly fun. That was the Mumme era. All the Air Raid stuff was simply window dressing. This is the SEC and that gimmick stuff doesn't work. We tried it, didn't have the horses, so went to a run game with 185 pound backs. We had moderate success but of course, they are killed out by midseason. We should've focused on the last time we had success, not simply fun. Fun comes with success and in 2007, I had as much fun as anytime during the Mumme era.

It's obvious that Mark wants a ball control offense and with what we have in place, that is exactly what we need to bring in as Dawson's replacement. We aren't going to be LSU and Bama where we can run a back 40 times a game. What we can do is be an offense with a pro style but with spread formations just like we had in 2007. Our line has been hot ****, but are built and made for both pass and run blocking. We have tight ends who can get out and make plays, but at the same time, stay home and block if we go power. Our running back stable has both power and speed and our receivers have a mixture of tall guys to go up and make plays, speedy guys who can run routes, and smaller quick guys who can tear it up in the slot. PRO STYLE SPREAD.

Yes, it is. X1000000. And comparing the resume's of Hudson and Dawson pre-hire isn't even close.

This may not fix the problem, but it sure as hell doesn't let it fester for another season. Stoops has one more shot to right the ship on offense.

Dude, stfu, you are not a football guy and never will be. Stick to being real good at cornhole, that's your ceiling.

Actually you called me a "whiny *****" when I questioned the hire last year when it was made.
False. Got the wrong guy on this one. Dana called all the plays at WVU. Dude was a get back coach over there. My posts on this from the summer are in this thread if you care to go back and look. You won't find one of me giddy about Dawson.

I was likely calling you a ***** for one of the other reasons you're a ***.

Wow....you have watched maybe 1 quarter of UK football in the last 6 years? Good stuff. You better go get the latest gluten free can of spam for dinner and put on Tiger's Christmas sing-a-longs w/ his ho's. Run along.

Watched every single game. Stick to your once a year con air posts and talking bad about UK over at Inside Carolina. So we treated Joe B Hall bad and you moved on to become a fan of UNC? You fell in love with Phil Ford so you switched teams? Inexcusable, unforgivable, douchebag move. Especially for a guy who grew up in Lexington.

How to determine who UK football will hire?
  1. Make a list of your three fantasy candidates. Now, strike through that list.
  2. Make a list of candidates that have truly excelled at other schools and that are now available or could be had with a decent check and some urgent action. Now, cross through everyone on that list but one. Wait 5 days and cross that one off when the guy gets hired by someone else.
  3. Make a list of random coaches no one has ever heard of and aren't on anyone's radar. Put those names into a hat. Draw one out. There's your new coach!
