the super elite championship team that 73 thinks is the greatest in cbb history started freaking marquis teague at pg. the second best ever had anthony epps.

and you know what? both were extremely important pieces of those teams.

ulis a role player?? you're an idiot.

Anthony Epps

Wayne Turner

Marquis Teague

Not exactly a murderer's row of PG's. What all those guys did have though were shooters next to them in the backcourt.

Ulis isn't an Anthony Epps. He was strictly a game manager....he's struggling now, but he'll come out of it and be the player we all thought he'd be...IMO. He'll start next year if he comes back on matter who we bring -- and every year after that. Really boils down to his shot, he's still doing all the other stuff -- just doesn't have anyone that he can pass to that will make shots consistently...Briscoe gets all his on his own.

NYC:

-What a place. Will never get old, especially around the holidays. Pretty well rounded trip this time.

-Considering our average standard room over the years in NYC is about 250 square feet, it was pretty damn awesome having a suite. Even got upgraded from the level we had booked and ended up with about 900 sq feet...was pretty sick, really. Love the old classic hotels.

Got in late Wednesday and headed down to the village after a drink at the hotel bar. Ended up at the Bourgeous Pig, a funky little dark wine & fondue bar. Perfect little Cozy bar after a day of travel and late check in.

-Thursday was our typical 9-5 & Walk 30,000 steps day...in the pouring rain It was a slight nuisance for sure, but didn't slow us down. Tell you what, the Umbrella Wars are a serious/dangerous thing in Manhattan. Actually wore my sunglasses despite it being nearly dark after coming within inches of getting my eye poked out a few times

...dinner at Ai Fiori, and then Radio City Christmas Spectacular with the Rockettes. Perfect show for Christmas time, and really well done. The venue/theater is so grand and beautiful.

-Friday was another Marathon walking day.. Group Dinner was a blast...Sara Michelle Gellar plopped down next to the Beans table near the end, looking pretty dope. Hite up 'NiteCap' a little speakeasy nearby post dinner before ending the night at the UK Party.

-Game day was awesome except for the 2 hours of game time. The 'new' Jack Demseys is pretty awesome, it's like a completely different bar now -- Great little group pregame there than continued at Barclay's. That arena is so sweet...prefer games at MSG for obvious reasons but damn that place is dope.

Snackdown:

Pizza: Roberta's, Uncle Paul's (late night slice), Lazarra
Lunch: Halal Guys, Shake Shack, Chinatown
Dinner: Ai Fiori, Beauty & Essex, Brick Lane Curry House
Breakfast: Bagels

...happy to be back. That city flat wears you down as a turbo tourist. Until next time...

-Short work week, Mon-Wed.

-Was fun seeing Murray go nuts, but almost made it MORE frustrating that we couldn't get over the hump, especially the dumb little plays (loose balls, lost rebounds, etc) that kept us from getting there. As noted from beginning, this team pretty damn marginal....Duke game still the REAL Kentucky team? Don't think so, at least not right now. Pretty much every other game we've played says otherwise.

Rack.

Probably knowing Willy will be in here with his backhanded OSU humping...

Go get touched you little jock sniffing *****. I was in NYC watching my Cats. Guarantee that loss hurt me a lot worse than it did you, I live and work in Ohio. Luckily, I don't know a single OSU "fan" who could've named one OSU basketball player before yesterday.

* Skal is beyond a liability right now. Touching joke.

* Ulis has not been the great the player he can be lately. And it is more than just his elbow.

* Game aside, NYC was awesome. I've always wanted to go around Christmas time. Every storefront is amazing.

Did some touristy ****… saw Jersey Boys, went to the top of the Empire State Building, etc. but mostly just walked around and ate like we were Schembaris.

* Can anyone consistently hit a midrange jumper?

Agree in essence with 73 on Ulis. He's essentially a really good role player who's tough as nails & really smart. Even last year when all of the idiots took Goodman's bait about Harrison vs Ulis I wondered what Ulis would look like in a primary role when he's not surrounded by so many other scoring options.

Love the kid but now he & Murray are the focal points of the opposing team's defensive gameplan. Ulis is a great manager and table setter but we are so limited offensively as a whole this year that we are counting on him to be a major scoring piece and he's not that kind of player.

bbdk is literally the only person i know who recognizes the square footage of his hotel room. probably a tip he picked up from that points guy creeper.

the highlight of the weekend, other than the kentucky game, was steve harvey. :joy:

ulis was better than andrew harrison last season, imo. he was shorter though. ill give you that.

king g is gonna give tghs kids a run for their money. it's like every day is a make-a-wish foundation gig, only without being sick.

Lee/Poythress clogging the lane isn't helping Ulis. That's for sure. Those two are going to have a tough time playing together.

how many square feet was everyone else's room?
We stayed at Cassa.

Our room was tiny. Full bed, about 2 feet on either side and maybe 5 feet at the end. Small, but nice, bathroom with a very large awesome shower.

The restaurant Butter was in our lobby. Fantastic. Alex Something from the Food Network.

Top 5 Snackdown rankings…

1. Scallops from Gallghers
2. Veal Parmigiana from some joint we just walked into in Little Italy.
3. Oysters from Gallaghers
4. Butter Burger
5. Calamari in Little Italy

.

Umm, ok.

Yes, when I pay 1-2K for a room, I like to see how big it is compared to others in the same price range. Never book a room, especially in NYC, without knowing beforehand.

After staying in a few rooms that were about the size of our home bathroom, it's a pretty smart thing to do.

Definitely pretty stupid trying to get the biggest & most comfortable room for your money in a city known for its ridiculously small rooms though, I can see why it would bother you.

My suite in the Domincan was only 800 sqft, but that didn't include the large private balcony with jaccuzi for two. #foamparty

Blanton's single barrel bourbon is a very nice gift Anth. But if you really want to impress someone, I can hook you up with a bottle of Pappy 20. Friend price, only $1500.

The 2011 team was a really good shooting team. When they became locked down defenders & gained some confidence with that over the hump win at UT they took off.

2014 was loaded with raw talent but offensively needed an identity & a new way to play. Tweak= Went from a post up team to playing outside/in featuring Randle on the perimeter to prevent teams from sagging/clogging the lane. We also started shooting the ball really well with the Harrisons & Young opening up the driving lanes.

This year' s team is so much more limited in personnel than those 2 teams.

Best way to book a room or hotel is to just close your eyes and push the button with no regard for location, quality, or room size.

That's how the hardcore guys do it.

Have the blinders on this week in regards to UL fans & media fan boys.

Will say this though.. In the event we win on Saturday my hit list which I plan to burn Twitter down with includes the following:

* Crum's Revenge

* Captain Suntan

* ULSheriff

* MasterDro

Cal can't coach, he does less with more, Wisconsin loss... STFU. He's 8-1 against you and he has won more games than anyone in the damn sport in the last 10 years. You get one shot a year to put these losers in their place and that's right after we beat them.

Revisionism is strong in here today. I'm fine comparing team from the past, you just have to remember we were redass as all get out in 11,13 and 14 and had huge fundamental concerns with those teams. 11 and 14 took until the last days of Feb to click. Those middle months had some real agony.
Do it all guy in Jones. Bwahaha. OK. A few people wanted to murder T Jones about this time 2010. Knight had a rough little stretch as well. Was it the UCONN game we got our doors blown off and he looked awful? Who knows if this team ever gels but to sit back and cherry pick just makes you look ridiculous.

What? GYERO was cool, calm and patient all during those seasons, especially 73. He knew we had the pieces. It was just about coming together. Loved all of those players.

2014, loaded with raw talent? Hmmm. Maybe overrated raw talent.

Young has barely played in the league.
Dakari and Harrison's will never play extended time up there.
WCS and Randle, two good NBA prospects. Also the cause for MAJOR frustration.

2011 went to the 2 man game with Knight and Harrleson. 14 made the tweak and got hot at the right time, more importantly played better D and rebounded like maniacs which means they started playing team ball and bought in.

It's like those years never happened. I still think we have a pretty solid group and the potential to have some fun. They're definitely frustrating but we've seen this before.

Skal has been bad, but our struggles across the board in the backcourt may be even more disappointing.

Among all of our guards, we have just two with a TS% over 50. One of them, Matthews, has almost as many turnovers as made field goals. The great bricklayers in 2014, Young and the Twins, look like sharpshooters by comparison.

My take as well. Not that I thought Skal would be THIS bad, but I'm not surprised he's struggled quite a bit. The guards have been the big disappointments to me- namely Ulis and Murray (along with Briscoe's ******** sub-40% from the line performance).

Ulis/Murray being awful shooting the ball IS THE STORY with this team.

Agree. Except for essentially QUITTING (and bragging about it) UK sports every year except 2012, he was pretty calm throughout every season, seemed to always know we'd be right back in the Final 4 about every year.

Props to him.

2011 team - never really gave up on them because I thought they were the victims of some incredibly bad luck. Felt like in every conference road game the opposing team played its best game of the season

2014 season - hated that team with the fire of a thousand suns. The title game appearance was a fluke if we're being honest.

If that touching 2013-14 UConn team can win the title, so can we. They had nothing but Deandre Daniels and something called Brimah on the inside. Long way to go, obviously, but it can happen. Like UCL/others have said, I do think we need a stretch 4 type to help open up the paint.

And we're beating UL.

Which is why I'm still optimistic we can have a good year. Those 3, regardless of what you think, are too good for us to not get much better.

Ulis started the tOSU game just like he played against Duke then it all went to hell. He was getting into the lane and making that mid range shot.. Not sure what happened after that. That mid range shot is going to be there for Murray and Ulis all season long.
