Beating Wichita, UL, Michigan and Wisconsin? That's not a fluke buddy. That's 4 Final Four caliber teams.

Yep. Throw in close losses against Florida and UConn and that team was playing great ball when or lose. Nothing fluky about it. Just a young team coming together.

One thing regarding the matchup with UL & one of the reasons we've had so much success against them since Cal came here..

UL pressures the ball. Whether it's through their various press formations or their matchup zone. They don't sag & pack it in like Ohio St and UCLA did. They get up in you which I think plays into our favor. The only other team to extend pressure against us was Duke. Our guards should be able to get by and then HOPEFULLY find the sweet spot in their matchup zone for some good looks at the rim.

Watching Star Wars with my boys was one of the cooler experiences of my life. Won't lie. Big discussion at the family Christmas party last night. Our dads remembering taking us in the 70s.

Someday you may understand this, but probably not.

-Even I threw in the towel on 2014. Nothing to be ashamed of.

-Jones didn't suck but to act like we weren't megaredassed frustrated with him would be a straight up lie. Harrison, Randle level redass with that dude. Gave us the all time great -> "You're f*cking selfish" clip from Cal though.

Also looks like our boy D Lamb is playing internationally. Good call. Crazy some of these dudes spend 4-5 years beating around the D-League trying to get called up while wasting prime earning years off their career.

I don't know if I've ever been more pissed off at a sports team in my life than the 2014 team after the South Carolina loss. And that was March 1.
That was a rough night. Drunk as a skunk. BBdk and I booking Las Vegas trips and canceling SECT simultaneously.

Skal has been bad, but our struggles across the board in the backcourt may be even more disappointing.

I don't think it is possible to be more disappointing than Skal. He gives us 0 rebounds, 0 assists, 0 blocks, and negative points. And he was, and by some morons still is, projected as a top 3 pick.

If Murray, Ulis, and Briscoe all quit the team to join ISIS it wouldn't be more disappointing than Skal has been.

It's all about reaching a certain number of games played in the NBA. You have to have three seasons to vest and I think 43 games played counts as a season. That's why guys will bang around for a while. They're trying to get vested in the NBA Pension before they head over seas.

I understand that, but like our boy J-Lo found out with the NFL, the NBA teams also keep track of that and cut your *** the day before they're on the hook. If the writing is on the wall much more to gain by not wasting those years making 40k in the D League.

That's a hard dream to give up on, especially when you are that close to reaching it. Those guys are basically trying to get to "the league" from about age 5 and up. I'm sure they've worked out in their minds a million scenarios where they finally get their break. Only takes 1-2 injuries in their mind.

Seems like every time during the comeback on Sat we needed that one rebound or loose ball to get us over the hump Poythress fumbled the ball, let it slip out of hands or had it straight taken from him.

I disagree. When you don't have a legit post presence to feed, it forces everything out even farther. I don't have the cute numbers to prove my point but when the defense doesn't respect a presence on the block, it puts more pressure on the guards to make plays individually as opposed to opportunities that naturally come about as a result of the system you're running.

Both units have been bad but our piss poor play by our bigs is by far the most disappointing to me, and that mostly has to do with Skal being a huge gash. It'd be amazing how many more open shots we would get off the catch if we get anything from a big. Since we currently don't, guard play I s off low percentage drives and 1v1. That will bring anyone's shooting % down considerably. Skal is useless. AP either gets caught on the baseline, stripped, or has his **** tossed. Izak doesn't play so who knows? And now the Kiwi is unfairly getting pressure placed on him to be the missing piece so when he turns into crap it will be even uglier.

I understand this debate is a chicken or the egg in terms of respective unit struggles but that's JMO. Game tends to give better flow to it when you work inside---->out. When you don't have an inside -- it's all ****.

My nephew was born 3 or 4 days before George and I don't even think he's been out of Fayette, Woodford, or Anderson county yet.

My eight month old's been out of the country twice.

But we took him to Canada, in a Chevy, which doesn't count, imo.

Isaac isn't ready, but at least he seems to "get" post play, passing out of the high post, etc. I really think he should get more minutes. His jumper is decent enough to keep people honest, which we can't say about Lee or Poythress. Gave us good, physical minutes in the Duke game and then fell off the face of the earth for reasons unknown.

Skal is starting to remind me of one of those Euros who would get drafted in the top-10 back in the early-2000s even though the only film on them was some grainy Betamax footage from the Bulgarian Boys League. Fairly skilled but not even remotely physical enough for U.S. ball.

Also, "fluke" was a strong word. I'll just say it was pretty GD unlikely based on what we had seen that season and leave it at that.

Define legit post presence please.

Someone you can toss the ball into and say, 'go get a bucket'. A guy that can beat his guy 1v1 and regularly require a double team.

I know the above is not quantitative enough for you but a legit post guy is like pornography -- I know it when I see it.

Lemme guess, tho -- Marcus Lee's PER is off the charts and is trending up at a considerable rate?
