It's incredible. In some ways I almost envy them. They are all calling in absolutely PUMPED about the loss Saturday. They're always like this. They could lose by infinity to someone and the callers would be calling in talking about how great they looked shaking hands. It's basically the complete opposite of uk fans. I don't understand.

The Louisville narrative is now "praying for a rematch, no Kentucky fan wants to see this Cards team in the tournament!!!"

Well I don't want to see them in the tournament, because it's stressful af, but we'd probably beat them again. I mean 8-1, good lord.

These are my takes, there are many like them, but these are mine:

~Think Matthews went a little overlooked on Saturday because of his foul trouble. A couple were ****** calls, but some of it was inexperience. I love his length and athleticism. He can be a great defender and rebounder. He's competent offensively and can score if he's closer than 15'. Hope he gets more run, but it will likely be at Willis' expense.

~New copier going in this week at the office. What an exciting time to be alive.

~The wife has decided that we are undertaking a DIY renovation of our half bath on the first floor. Her and her mother spent six hours stipping wallpaper yesterday. Little nervous this project comes out looking ******. I can't be relied upon at all for any finish work. Aces at demolition though.

~Oh hey look, heavy rain today.

~Would love to eventually set up a home gym, but I don't want to half *** it. If you're going to use that much space and invest money, then you need to go all the way and eliminate the need for a gym membership. That means equipment for every muscle group and enough weight to do all the workouts. I know myself well enough that I am confident I would actually use the weightlifting equipment if it were here.

~No cool gadgets or tech gifts this year for Christmas. In fact, the opposite. Actually received a 98 year old framed railroad map of Kentucky. Love it. Probably my favorite gift.

~In 2016 I am most looking forward to the potential release of The Winds of Winter. Yes, I realize I am setting myself up for disappointment.

~Camp Cal. Probably look like the 96 Bulls next week. Or more likely we'll double down on trying to make Skal a focal point and shoving that scout's report up his *** to tepid results.

~Star Wars is printing money. Since it's a Disney property now that pretty much guarantees we'll end up getting Episode XVIII - The Economy Awakens.

Now I'm done.

I know framed maps are the new trend (Thanks, Restoration Hardware!), but ********, I love maps. Any idea where they got it? Or is it a one of a kind?

I think this might be right up your alley. Now that's a home gym. Won't find anything like this in Montclair.

-Great call on Matthews. Meant to post something similar this morning. His D was really good early on.

*Re: Willis. Dude is going to have to step it up. He's getting opportunities.

One of my friends is big into railroad memorabilia and he found it online through a private seller.

Nice. I do legal stuff for a railroad. I have tons of huge old maps in my evidence locker. No way I would pay to frame any of em' (things are like 5'X8'). Always wondered what they'd fetch on the foamer market.

11 hours in Denver airport a week ago due to mechanical issues

Currently sitting in SLC airport after the flight being totally cancelled yesterday then getting up at 4:30 this morning only for that flight to be delayed beyond being able to make my connection. Should be getting home around midnight tonight if everything goes perfectly, which it undoubtedly will.

Air travel; the way of the future!!

Sounds like there is some tension about granting Phillips a medical redshirt this past year? that seems odd.

- who up (and at work)? hated getting up this morning but this is usually a pretty productive week, getting ish cleared out and such.

- great Xmas. First year my kids got really cool stuff. think this may go down as an all timer for my oldest. Coolest thing my kids probably got was this:

it's these remote controlled cars that you control with your phone and race on a track, shooting at each other the whole time. basically a real life Mario kart. she got it the day after Christmas and we spent all night playing it with my brothers and uncles and such. would make a great holiday family gambol. we also got them star wars battlefront which is pretty cool too.

- big BIG game for the fightin' who deys tonight. I have every reason in the world to think they blow it and drop to the 3 seed, etc. but I really like how the Bengals' defense matches up against Denver. I have absolutely no idea what to expect on offense though.

- happy with the game because we beat UL again. <---- hot take

- Skal is going to get better. He's also likely to be back next year and that's going to be a fun piece to play with next season.

Home gyms... lol. You have to be completely dedicated to use that 5 days a week, which i estimate about 5% of the population would actually make that part of their long term consistent list of activity. Now you've taken up that much space in the home which hurts resale, etc. Spend $15/month and join a place- dont convert a chunk of your sq footage for something you *think* you will use.

Traveling through TX yesterday was rough but we made it back home. Jamaica was solid again- cant say enough good things about the resort. Food, staff, entertainment, etc... all good. If it had a small casino we'd really be in business. Honestly felt embarrassed that I didnt enjoy it more. I think coming off London/Paris and going back to a place we'd already spent time before was a bad idea- i just couldnt get as into this trip.

Now we have a few days before going to Gatlinburg for NYE weekend and I really just want to stay home. I say these things knowing very well that we are able to travel and move about bc we dont have kids. And once we do- i'll complain about not being able to go anywhere. Whatever.

Football program... sorry WCC, but if they are going to keep giving us ****** stories to complain about, we have to continue to complain about them. Another transfer, losing a necessary commit, and the Gran deal potentially on the verge of collapse... Jesus Christ. Couldnt we just get through the holidays with some nice non-stories?

If we play UL at YUM!, we lose. If the officiating is fair and balanced and by the rules, we lose. If UK doesnt play one of their best offensive games, they lose. If UL didnt have key players out of action, UK loses. I *think* I got most of the common responses from the ULSheriff types.

Liked that we got another "Puppies Organized" from Raftery, on that last Ulis 3.

Talked to a few fans in the arena about what all of these unspeakable nasty comments directed at Pitino were... All of them said there harmless mocking, ordinary comments you hear at any arena in America. Nothing said about the scandal, nothing about his indiscretions, nothing about whores, etc... He lied about that- and its an easy lie he gets away with bc its not possible to prove anything either way. And UK fans can still appreciate Pitino's time at UK- but still think he's a piece of trash based on the type of person he is. We dont owe him some kind of unconditional love and respect for the rest of his days. I think even as the coach at UL, if he isnt connected to everything off the court and doesnt act like a condescending prick- he gets praise and respect for eternity. But hes a liar and a bad person- so he gets whats coming.

Not really sure how using part of your home hurts resale. The new owner can do whatever he wants with the space. Looks better than an empty room, IMO.

That home gym is crazy. There are gyms here in Lexington that don't have that good of a set up.

About 5 years ago, I invested in a treadmill, dumbbells, a few kettles, a bosu, a swiss ball, and an adjustable plyo box. Have a nice section in the basement blocked off to workout. That's all I need and since it's just downstairs, I feel enormous guilt if I feel like blowing it off. Still invested more than what a gym membership would probably cost me during that same time period, but it takes away the excuses of the parking lot is full, the gym is crowded, not open, etc.

Exactly. I'd use a home gym if I had one. What's holding me up is the amount of dumbbells and plates I'd need to do the workouts I do now. I can't just get a set of 20-50 pound dumbells and two 45 pound plates.

Lifting I gotta be in a gym. Just way too easy and like CC said the variety required is too great for a home gym. I've had pull up bar and the adjustable dumbbells for years and never use them.

One of the primary reasons to work out/run is to get away from the house, the kids, the chores, the responsibilities, etc. Having a home gym would completely defeat the purpose. If I want to run 6 miles on a Sunday, I can say "hey, heading out to run. Will be back in a couple hours." On the other hand, if I'm in the basement on a treadmill, what's to stop me from being asked to bathe one of the kids when I'm halfway through? Or to fix lunch for one of them while the wife is tending to one of the others? Getting away for a little while to burn some calories is my time. If I have to stay at home to do that, there is no my time.

Learn solitude.

It's amazing how expensive cast iron dumbbells are. It usually comes out to be about $1/lb. I bought new as I moved up in ability so they weren't purchased all at once but they still can take a bite out. That said, I was able to watch on Amazon and catch some at a good discount. If I'm being honest, there's nothing that I find funnier than the mailman or fedex/ups guy having to carry to dumbbells up to the front door. Boy, they look pissed and I topped out at 35s. They'd probably put a rock through the window vs carrying up 50s.

Went to the gym for the first time in two weeks after a combination of being sick, holiday lazy/holiday party/holiday fat. Shew. Wee. That was rough.

Pretty happy I got back in there so people saw my face before the NY crowd comes in though. Was worried about losing some exercise cred.

i actually wish i had room for a home gym. no treadmill, because i hate those things. but some weights and just a general exercise area -- sure.

free outdoor group exercise is extremely popular right now. yoga, running, boot camp, november project, etc.

reading "the god delusion" by richard dawkins. goodness. oxford educated atheist/religion expert that just roasts everything about christianity for 400 pages. good stuff. highly intellectual.

who would win in a gyero powerlifting championship? my money is probably on coolcat. he's country strong and cropfit raised.

im "not working but available by email/phone" today, which means im working. i never learn. just gotta shut er down sometimes and disconnect.

Run 3-4 miles 5 times a week at least from Oct-March. Not really into running races though. Especially trails since I roll my right ankle about once a month.

-Decided the morning of to go down to Rupp and scalp tickets with a buddy. Good play. $140 each for 3rd row uppers in the corner (215). Great seats, really.

-I've sort of come full circle with Pitino. I'm certainly over his taking the UofL job. I get the disdain that's out there, and he certainly didn't endear himself in this latest installment. Still, when I see him in Rupp I remember the good times, probably more vividly as time goes on, ironically.

I absolutely worshiped the way his UK teams played. I loved his attitude & intensity when it personified the program. I loved the panache he brought. I completely fell in love with UK basketball when he was there.

And still, he's a big part of our UK DNA whether some care to admit it or not. In this modern era of basketball his impact reverberates through the program, as much as Cal has put his identity on it. It's there, even if its muted.

So when I see morons (Justin Rowland) calling for his jersey's removal from the rafters I get a little pissed off, and frankly it pushes me closer to him because it just makes me remember how awesome that era was. Like Jones I used to think one day he'd be welcomed back and recognized, but I am not so sure anymore. He shoulders some of the blame, but at any rate it makes me sadder as that thought fades.

Bad person. Poor loser. Liar. Whatever. People don't change, and he was all of that when he was ours, but I still loved him. Cal is often tagged as the *perfect* UK basketball coach, but that title, for me, still belongs to Pitino. He was the perfect UK basketball coach. If you want to "cleanse" the program of him, then you just don't get it.

**ducks**

Don't have to pick one or the other. I mean Rupp was the original "perfect" UK coach. All 3 filled the seat perfectly. Agree with most of the other stuff for a big portion of us Rick and the 90's were the influential years of our fanaticism.
