I don't know.

Why don't you ask Ravens, Rams, Seahawks, Buccaneers, Colts, Cardinals, Jags, Panthers, Raiders, Ravens, and Titans what the point of following a new local team could possibly be?

It probably has something to do with being an actual fan of the sport to the point that you would like to experience the comraderie of a regional fanbase and not just be a boisterous outsider with no connection to a team other than convenient TV viewing schedule from 40 years ago.
So, if the NFL expands and puts a team in Florence, you will drop the Bengals and support them?

There were no Cincinnati Bengals prior to 1968. So it's not like you followed them because it was your Dad's team or papaw's team like UK or the Reds. If you grow up a 100+ miles from Cincy in KY and never saw the expansion Bengals on TV, why wouldn't you become a fan of the Steelers, Cowboys, Raiders or other dominant teams of that era.

We're all gonna die anyway.

But thanks for sympathizing with me for my franchise choking again. Really. I know you meant it too. I'll smarten up one day or keep being a loser, one of the two.

Western Kentucky is full of Cowboys, Steelers, and Packers fans, as well as geographically correct Rams, Titans, and Bears fans. Had the Cardinals stayed in St. Louis during my formative years I would likely have a strong emotional attachment to that franchise. When the Rams moved I was a senior in high school. Too late. By then it was UK athletics and Cards baseball, and that's how it will always be. I "rooted" for the Rams, but nothing like UK or the Cards.

It's not the picking part, it's the living and dying with a team you have no connection to other than you randomly picked them a long time ago.

If you get as upset when YOUR Steelers/Cowboys/Bulls/etc lose as you do at a UK loss, you're loser. Pretty simple, really
I don't think you've ever seen one gyero Steeler fan get upset when they lose, regular season or playoffs.

So you're fan enough to post incessantly, but not fan enough to get upset when they lose? Which means you're not a fan at all, just the annoying little **** Joey described perfectly

TERRIBLE TOWEL!! STEELERS NATION WOOHOOO!! WHAT A MAGICAL SEASON
*Steelers lose*
Alright, let's go BULLS!!

 what an amazing group of fans
I have no problem admitting I care less about them than a local Cincy guy does about the Bengals. That doesn't mean I'm not a fan though.

And these posts in the last two days are the only ones I've made about the Steelers since we covered the exact same thing last year and the year before that, etc.

Lol @ Bengal fans trying to guilt us over regional affiliation. No thanks we're good either hating the NFL or cheering for a team that actually wins in a different area of the country.
Actually, I don't think anyone here actually gives a **** who you root for. We know you don't have time for the NFL with Tour De France right around the corner.

We know you and BBdK are just being dicks because that is what internet friends do to each other. And we like it.

Chief and BlueKel, on the other hand, have actually pissed me off. So if that was your goal, good job.

Remember how awful it felt when UK lost in the Final Four last year? This is almost as bad to me, and I really appreciate you rubbing it in. Thanks, ********.

No other team could possibly lose in that fashion. I've grown to expect it, but it still hurts.

Other than saying that the trash fans(Chumps) and thug players deserved the loss I haven't mentioned the game. And that was last night.

If this is actually true then you guys seriously need to take a week or so off. It's the ******** Bengals. Good Lord. You weren't winning the effing Super Bowl.

You don't get upset/worked up when UK football loses? It didn't really, really hurt when we blew a 21 pt lead to UL?

This Bengals team was talented enough to win the Super Bowl - if 100% healthy. They just couldn't help Bengalling themselves.

The extent of my pro league fandom:
Cincinnati Reds from mid April - usually mid July because it's a fun thing to do with the kids

Phoenix Suns (by fan I mean I follow them on Twitter, too lazy to find their games on fox sports southwest) and that's only because I'm super gay for Devin booker

It's a healthy lifestyle choice. Being a fan of the cats means I suffer enough, because the football team is soul crushing and the basketball team makes me want to die every March. Sports are hard and awful

UK blowing that 21 point lead to UofL in football isn't in the same universe as the disappointment from last April. I would never even think to make that analogy, honestly.

It's whatever. Admittedly I don't really understand pro sports fanhood.

Last April was as crushed as I've been after a sporting event. Still not sure I'm over it.

-Didn't realize Denzel's son was Ricky Jarrett. Good looking dude.
