I’ve been focused on the distillery which we just framed the gift shop the last 2 days and I’m headed to a distillery to evaluate a used equipment package tomorrow morning.

To add to the conversation, yes this age of not only HS teens but FR/Soph’s in college too are more into gummies and vapes. It’s a HUGE concern for a lot of people in the alcohol world.

I think it’s a fad that has solely been accelerated due to the shut down for a few years during COVID. Just an uneducated opinion honestly.

Also according to my 20YO nephew there is still a TON of drinking going on at his age group and those just turning 21. He hops around WKU, UK and UL regularly.

Down Home also just hired him and will be hoping he brings some energy to our upstart distillery.

Boogie Fland returning to college and likely not to Arkansas. Will be interesting to see the reaction if he is All-SEC and Thomas or Acuff are in a Freshman slump.

Those of you with teens, are you all seeing a SIGNIFICANT decrease in drinking compared to what we experienced?

I wasn't a big drinker in high school, but I'm still pretty sure at least a couple weekends per month during my junior and senior years were Superbad-lite, where we spent the majority of our time trying to score beer (with spotty success rates).

My daughter and her buds don't drink. As far as I can tell their boyfriends don't drink. And while she did say a bunch of juniors got caught drinking before school the other day, it doesn't seem nearly as widespread.

We did hear rumors about certain middle schools in Louisville is that at certain ones (namely private), drinking is a huge problem starting in 7th grade. But I'm calling BS on that too. Can you imagine going to pick your 12 year old daughter up at a friend's house and she is piss drunk, and the dad of her friend is like, "yep, gave her a few High Noons and some vodka, but don't worry, I supervised it all!"

I have two teenage daughters and them and their friends all have negative opinions on drinking.

My oldest is 24 and let’s just say he would not agree with his sisters. He probably started drinking when he was 14. Did some dumb things in high school due to drinking but was still a great student and good kid.

But yeah the teens right now from what I’ve gathered aren’t big on drinking and drinkers

Are you saying your nephew who is NOT in college, regularly drives to Bowling Green, Lexington, and Louisville to hang out at colleges he doesn't attend ? Odd. Hell why not EKU, Murray State, NKU ? Do a full on mapped out, scheduled state tour.

When I was at UK, I regularly partied in Lexington, Louisville, and Richmond. Anywhere there are chicks, booze, and bad decisions, a 20 year old dude will be in attendance. What's your point about a 20 year old dude cruising college campuses for poontang?

And I totally agree with Krazy because I've read numerous articles about the affects' of THC product legalization, as well as Ozempic and other weight loss drugs, and the decline in alcohol consumption because of both. Im old and have zero idea, but do college kids just go to bars, eat gummies, smoke vapes, chat with each other on Tinder instead of face to face, and act like gigantic bitches, or do they still go to bars to power drink and pickup chicks like we did in college?

Inquiring minds want to know.

I guess I left out very specific details that only a few would bother to care about.

Currently my nephew is 20YO and attends WKU for his education. He is somewhat popular and is in some kind of fraternity there. He along with several others have made some friends that ironically go to other universities like UK and UL. When he is invited, and attends parties he is invited to, there is apparently………………

A ton of drinking.

The weird thing is they are actually waiting until they are 21 now and marijuana, gummies, and vapes are truly gateway options until then.

Did that help pumpkin?

Social media replaced a huge chunk of social drinking. Social distancing didn't help. People don't hang out like they used to.

Speaking of covid, I haven't broken the Ooni out since. Got the itch though. Need to get my dough game back up and running. TBH even though I totally nerded out on hydration and Italian 00 flour and whatnot, I never really nailed it, which is probably a big part of why it's been sitting in a cabinet for 3+ years.

May pop down to Nashville Saturday to catch the Cats and Dores on the diamond. Love that venue.

What's the D9 gummy brand du jour? Need some indica night timers. Seems like I get woken up every other night and and my entire night's sleep gets completely effed.

One thing about this upcoming basketball season that really sold me was hearing Jaland Lowe speak. Kid sounds like a dork. Bodes well.

Sure did cantaloupe. If I had known he was in college, it would have been completely different.

Just wanted to wish everyone luck on the impending doom. The choices between death by hail, tornadoes, straight line winds or floods, wasn’t what I had envisioned.

Was looking to be in that long line, lass and kid are in Florida, guess my only option is a neighbor that wants to go out with a bang.

Wonder if fishing will work as well as one on one basketball.

Today's Deep Thought by Jack Handy.....

"Sometimes when I feel like killing someone, I do a little trick to calm myself down. I'll go over to the persons house and ring the doorbell. When the person comes to the door, I'm gone but you know what I've left on the porch? A jack o lantern with a knife in the side of it's head with a note that says "You". After that I usually feel a lot better and no harm done."

- [tap, tap] This thing on…?

- Le GYERO est mort, vive le GYERO!

- Joking aside…have we still not heard a single word about what is actually going to happen around here? Is this going to be rolled in to the other site, or are they just going to leave well enough alone and let things continue as before?

- A couple weeks back, BBN Tonight aired a segment about the newly opened Memorial. My dad and I just happened to be watching it together at his house, and wouldn’t you know it, there on the screen appeared my grandfather in one of the team pictures they showed (I’ve mentioned here before he played for Rupp). Pretty cool moment, especially seeing it with my dad.

- John Wick spinoff starring Ana de Armas releasing next month. 😍😍😍

- I was driving through campus recently and just happened to see seven - SEVEN - of those massive cranes across the skyline. Pretty sure Lexington will be under perpetual construction until the end of time.

- Old news, of course, but St. John’s in Atlanta just gets those old school UK basketball fandom vibes going. Exciting to be excited again.

- Homeownership is an absolute scam. Sewer line backup for second time in a few months led to a “2-3 day job” sewer line replacement. 5 weeks, a destroyed basement, a temporary Grand Canyon in the front yard that is now just straw and grass seed, a pump installation, and $26K later, we’re almost back to new. This was a couple of weeks after an $11K roof replacement. “THE AMERICAN DREAM!”

- This isn’t a novel idea, but cards are also an absolute scam. $20+ for three PIECES OF TOUCHING THIN CARDBOARD at Hallmark last week. And unless you want to be the ******* that didn’t get cards for all the moms in your life, really don’t have a choice. FOH.

- Darryl Hall just continues to disappoint me. After seemingly being an absolute dick to John recently, he now has yacht rock in his crosshairs, calling it “a ******* joke by two jerk offs in California.” You’re breaking my heart, dude.

- I’ve talked about “clear your head drives” here before, River Road in Louisville and Manchester/Old Frankfort from Lexington to Frankfort being two of my favorites. An underrated one I never hear mentioned, though, is out Tates Creek Road all the way to the river, crossing on the Valley View ferry, and taking that all the way to Richmond alongside the actual Tate Creek. From there, you can cross back over the river on the bridge next to Proud Mary and either go back into town or even go further out Athens-Boonesboro, down by Hall’s, the dam, etc. I just love driving near water.

- I know the general consensus right now is just a very blasé attitude toward UK football, myself included, but I just can’t bring myself to give up our tickets. We even “upgraded” our seats (same section, no cost) this year to move closer. Still holding out hope that one day we will have something to be excited about again.

- Big time baseball annual fundraiser tonight, aka an excuse for all the parents to get shitfaced for a good cause. Wonder what Sloot and the lass will forget they bid on at the silent auction this year.

- EDIT TO ADD: That said, it was pretty cool that they bid on and won an item last year for CF to be the pitcher and G to be the catcher for the league Opening Day ceremonies first pitch this year. I didn’t even know about it until a few days before, because the lass had completely forgotten and was only reminded when one of the organizing league moms called her.

- Kick Friday’s ***, GYERO.

We had a similar issue last month… you couldn’t pay me enough to do that plumbing work. Those poor bastards.

When visiting Florida in February of 2019, our entire sewer main froze… we returned home, treated to turd geysers.

- We are wrapping up school on . . . Monday. Seniors are already doing their thing so that means I have half a day to myself. Guess I Marcus post here 'cause there's nothing to read.

- I saw Turd Geyesrs at A1A in '97 iirc.

- Boogie Fland hightailed it out of Arky, and DJ claims another skin. I didn't see anyone discuss that (or anything else around here) so there's the obligatory blurb.

- You can't say "GD" on the air.
Ah don't worry. Nobody's listening anyway.

-
Believe me, teens are still drinking. I speak from a position of knowledge. Many of our students here think they are already in frats/sororities on WKU's campus. My daughter is a saint though. Seriously, she's the best.

- Not trying to racially profile, but we have a very heavy Southeast Asian population here. Those dudes are the vaping champs of the world. I call them Vasians because I'm really clever. If you walk into a restroom here, no matter the time of day, you're guaranteed to find at least 2-3 Vasians huddled around a stall door or poofing up their hair in the mirror. They love it.

- PGA championship is this week. That one came up out of nowhere. Is it fair to say that the Waste Management Open is more popular than the PGA Championship? Not in prestige, of course. Just in terms of being a popular/cool event?

- Also, why do golfers get golf cart rides to the tees when there's a playoff, but walk around the course for 72 holes? I *get* it, but there's some irony in there I think.

- Is there a worse "2nd hand awkwardness" than when a co-worked tells you "Good Morning" when it's 1:20 in the afternoon?

- #ClearLiquorSZN.

- Stay safe, gang. Post when you can!

What was the saying 100Catmade mention of a few months back. Something like “he presumes himself” or something like that. Something about being self-proud or the like? Been giving that some thought lately and can’t come up with it.

Edit: found it was PTI

The golf cart ride in playoffs IMO is mostly due to time restraints. TV coverage is nearing the end and daylight could become a factor, thus they try to hurry it along and save some time.

Mud in the fairway thoughts ? To me, if you hit a 322 yard drive dead center of the fairway, you should not be penalized by having a glob of **** on your ball. The whole idea is to land it in the fairway. The course had 5 inches of rain before the tournament began, simply allowing someone to lift the ball, clean the glob of **** off of it, and put it right back where it was is not gaining an advantage.

When you hit a 50-100 yard wayward drive / shot and land behind a grandstand, well, you SHOULD be penalized. Nope, can move it even if in the deep rough, position it with a clear path, and even sometimes, out of the rough. Golf can be dumb. If you can't lift/clean/replace in the fairway after 5 inches of rain, then there should never be relief. If you hit the MF'er into the stands, crawl your *** up there and hit off of / around Chesson lll's drunk, goofy pants wearing ***. Land on a sprinkler head ? Better hope that ***** don't soak you, play it as it lies.

Darryl Hall insists upon himself, Hall has stated, "I'm just about the best singer I know, and it's time for everybody to say that".
IMO, when he sings live, he overdoes it with his vocal changes to prove his statement.

Friend says kids have fake id's, cross the river into Cincy, hit the bars with other HS kids.

Bas pollen day.

Preakness picks :
$2 exacta box #2 Journalism 8/5 /#6 River Thames 9/2 /#8 Clever Again 5/1 ($12 ticket)

$5 W/P/S #3 American Promise 15/1 ($15 ticket)
$5 W/P/S #9 Gosgar 20/1 ($15 ticket)

Total wagered: $42 USD.

Made a little coin on the Derby with the exacta paying out $121 (Had a $5 exacta instead of $2)
And cashed show money on the #21 that paid back $21. ($5 W/P/S #21 Baeza)

Not matter what happens today, I will still be up at least $100. Not killing it, but making a profit. Name of the game.

Would love for it to come in #8 / #6 / #9. Would again cash the exacta and show money on a long shot. Just do not want to have Journalism to hit the board (unless the 6 or 8 do not finish 1st or 2nd) it would hurt my payout, but have him in to keep from destroying my tickets.
