-Homesteader talk:

Anyone ever mess with an agave plant? My “Florida Mom” has a 6‘+ one that’s probably 12’+ around and she wanted me to prune it. Job well done but that sap when the palm points poke you will cause a big rash, nasty mfers.

-Speaking of vegetation, MANGO SEASON! Mangoes just poppin’ out of trees as you walk your dog this time of year. I’ll take one or two a night to go home and eat. Fresh mango with yogurt is basically dessert.

-Been giving blood lately just because they need it. They asked me to give plasma the other day so I did that. They took a full liter of fluid out of me, that was wild man.

What’s more wild is the crowd in there. Jeez ol Pete. Rough, rough bunch man, obviously it’s because they’re getting paid. But dang makes someone like myself hesitant to go back but I will.

The interesting part is my BP has been down quite a bit since then which is awesome. Will probably continue blood donations.

- @80 Proof just wanted you to know I have a written exam for an FD near Orlando coming up to get a Finger Fkkkking job. Been practicing lately, hope this dude is ready bro.

-Was applying for a fire job today and when I went to put my birthday in, I scrolled down to ‘96 and that’s where it stopped… then had a button “click here if you need to go further back” Jesus, that made me feel old, at least I know everyone starting out with me is 20 years younger going in there.

Watching Shane Gillis clips from last night. His delivery was weak. Had some strong jokes that did not land as good as they could have. Not his strength.

Love morning golf while "working".

Reds need to make a move.

Shorts:

- Did I read that right- we’re 2-14 in our last 16 SEC home games? I don’t really care too much about our stance in the SEC belly, but I hate our regression coupled with a Louisville comeup. Of course they’re frauds but that record and smacking us will provide the illusion of success.

- If you’re going to win at Kentucky in football you need to be a MFer. Stoops lost his edge.

- All that said, I’ll be bringing my 5 year old down for her first game against Toledo. Doubt she makes it to halftime but looking forward to introducing her to live Kentucky sports. It’s time.

- Is Joe Burrow a bit of a dandy? Absolutely but he’s a good dude and a Top 3 QB. Proud to have him as my quarterback and hoping he’s not just another Marino.

- Yeah the hell with rich guys cheating on their wives but this Coldplay stuff still bothers me with the glee people have tearing someone they’ve never met apart on social media. Tale of the “F’m” times, I guess. I hate it.

- In the past week, listened to a podcast from the Hoop Dreams guys interviewing Aaron Harrison and the UK video of Lowe chatting with Andrew. Their arch was always one of the most bizarre of any Cats. I could barely recall their voices. They never chatted to the media much. They were straight forward ballplayers- no BS. Despite resting ***** face, they seemed like solid dudes - never a hint of issues with their teammates. Their success on paper was ridiculous. Yet they got mostly disrespect from BBN. Hoping they get the love they deserve as time passes.

- That Amy Bradley docuseries on Netflix is insane. As a dad, it really F’d with me.

- Looking at Duke now (and in recent past), it makes me completely understand other fanbases disdain for Calipari Kentucky.

- Where does Old School rank in the 2000s comedie? Ferrell’s performance was just ridiculous.

- You know the past dozen times I’ve been grabbing drinks with buddies at bars (rare these days), I’ve been unfulfilled. My happy place now- my deck on the grill with a cold domesto or my basement with a game on. It’s a weird feeling to not enjoy stuff you really used to. Guess I’m full on Dad now.

- Oktoberfest biers hitting the shelves now- my annual bat signal that sweet sweet college football season beckons.

*this new site is terrible. Anyway to stop the goddamned pop-ups at the bottom of the screen? F*ck sake.

*I'm here for all the Coldplay memes. They're so good. DBags deserve it.

*Been on the cocktails at home ride for a few years. Really since number 2. I'm good with a pregame cocktail bar before dinner but that's about it. I just don't have anything for an actual bar anymore.

*Imagine being awful at your job and getting 44mill to go 3-9 this season. Lol.

*TDF update. I was wrong MDVP was there to tear **** up and certainly did. Poagcār is just superhuman. Been a helluva race outside of the GC.

**WCC... still a proper coont.

Great stats Vern though you threw in some clunkers among those folks. No need to do to justify Bird’s greatness.

Nene was a great add. Completely forgot about that guy.

Day drinking for this old guy. The Friday night out is rare. Saturday lunch and drinks at an outdoor venue. Fall/winter lunch, catch cfb/hoops and head home. Fresh as a daisy the next day.

Try not to get too involved on Burrow. The less I know, the better. Just want to enjoy his greatness.

-Ruby’s last night after “cocktails at the conservatory” - which last nights theme was god awful Ohio wines JFC I’m so hungover

-Waking up with kids at the grandparents so I can get some morning sex with the wife - that’s just an all timer every time

-Going to build a bear here in a bit because we got a gift card 🙄 kill me now

-The Bengals have a generational QB right now. They don’t need a good defense. They just need a mediocre defense. So what do they have? A horrible god awful worst in years defense 😂 I mean FFS what a joke of a franchise

-I love going to high end fancy places and getting a good cocktail, don’t think I ever won’t. Mezcal seems to be the current it liquor

-After build a bear we have a family with 3 kids coming to the pool then coming over to our place after - it never f*ckin ends with my socialite wife, just never ending plans until I die

-Completely agree with @wcc31 (no surprise to me) about the Coldplay deal. Imagine if everyone was taking pure joy in roasting you on one of the worst mistakes of your life. They’re not good people for doing that but for people to take pleasure in others misery… that’s kind of sick honestly.

There’s schadenfraude like enjoying Louisville being terrible in basketball and there’s running someone you’ve never met through the absolute ringer with no actual gain to yourself.

Anyone want to ride bikes over to Williams Park with me and stop to make fun of the homeless this afternoon noon since that’s cool I guess.

- anth and wcc, don’t worry you’re not missing anything, it’s just your brain telling you, you are. No kids and I never go to bars except when the lady wants a beverage or there’s one with good food. Never ever put late night. I’m in bed by 10:30 reading last night, the lady was out at 9:30. Perfect of you ask me.

-off to spread a half ton of white rock around the house along with some neighbors. It’s 92, don’t even want to know the heat index.

- I’m stuck between a person who A. Doesn’t enjoy watching people have a great, public moral failure, and thus making myself feel morally superior and B. Laughing way too hard at some of these memes. The Philly Phanatic even got in on it.
- If they put my worst moment(s) on a Jumbotron, I would probably run into the woods, never to be seen again. TS
-If they would have just acted normally, there probably wouldn’t have been any mention of it. I doubt that the spouses were at home watching the Coldplay concert, with Jumbotron footage.
- I was going to mention the lack of seeing the word domesto, or the phrase “riding the domesto train” and lo and behold wcc drops the word today. I figured everyone was now drinking Mich Ultra and was probably ashamed to admit it.
- If I go to a bar or bar/restaurant, I’ll usually try to be out of there before the band starts or dusk. Whichever comes first. If I get talked into staying by a persuasive friend for the band, I’ll be there for the next 2-3 hours. A good time, but typically a regrettable decision.
- I secretly hate plans, even if I’m the one that makes them. It sounds good and I feel like doing what the plans are whenever I make them or agree to them, but as the time approaches, I usually have a feeling of dread. I live on a schedule all week and I want my free time to be just that—FREE TIME! (Whatever that is)
- The inaugural Saturday 6 (I think)
• Gringo Honeymoon- REK
• Whiskey and Women- DAC
• Carmelita- Dwight Yoakam
• Sick as a Dog- Aerosmith
• Simple Man- Junkyard
• Waiting on a Friend- The Stones

La Familia is playing Auburn alum on Fox tomorrow. KD Johnson and Wendell Green are already playing in the TBT, can’t believe anyone ever thought Auburn was winning anything with those two numb nuts running the show.

* My buddies and I have transitioned from drinks at a bar to grabbing lunch as much as possible during the work week. That and doing activities together that aren't simply drinking and watching something.

It has been a nice change of pace. No one has to contact the missus to see if plans conflict, there is a hard out in an hour or so, and zero or minimal booze. I do feel like Father Time is starting to pull up a chair to the table, too, though.

* It is embarrassing the amount of paper I've wasted drawing out different rotations for next year. I watch the games from last year on YouTube whenever I've got downtime. I re-watched the title game just to see how Todd Golden used Denzel Aberdeen. I haven't got the stomach to watch Mo Dioubate games yet. PTSD and general dislike of Nate Oats and the Alabama arena's stupid striped ceiling make that tough sledding.

I'm eat up with college basketball excitement, y'all.

* We rewatched Old School recently, coincidentally enough. There was barely a plot and what was there didn't even make sense. It was just Luke Wilson and Will Ferrell being hilarious for 45 minutes while occasionally being interrupted by sight gags, gross out jokes, and boobs. It was glorious.

It was a simpler time.

* Random thoughts from re-watching a few of last year's games:

  • Pre-injury Lamont Butler was a fire hydrant covered with tentacles on defense and the consummate veteran point guard. He was a lot more explosive that you might remember, too. I have a special fondness for that kid. He has some limitations but I wouldn't be mad at having pre-injury Lamont Butler as my point guard from here on out.

  • In nut-cutting time against Houston, Golden was subbing Aberdeen for offense and Alijah Martin on defense. Martin was an absolute monster and a bully ball guy, so I get it -- especially against a Kelvin Sampson squad. For us, Aberdeen might be our best defensive guard so if Golden was using him for offense, bully for ye Ol' Wildcats!

  • Brandon Garrison is my favorite player. He's got just a hint of knucklehead to him but that makes him all the more lovable. You need a guy who will try to fight Louisville's bench by himself. It helps if he's your biggest dude, too.

Last year, he would pivot between amazing and bonehead -- often in the same play. He's got the opportunity to lock down the starting spot before JQ can get healthy. Pope having Brandon bring his kid out to the press conference was a great way to let the young man grow up before our eyes. If he's taking basketball seriously and matures, we might have two lottery pick centers on the roster.

  • Colin Chandler is going to win a ton of games here before he leaves. Pope's quote about the kid growing roots like bamboo is spot on. (As an aside, did we hire Mormon Phil Jackson?). By the end of the year, he was hitting bombs. He's an NBA caliber athlete. If he models his game after Denzel Aberdeen, it will be chefskiss.

I think he's going to play a lot more back-up point than people think, especially if Denzel starts at the 3. His defense last year probably looked a little better than it actually was beside poor Travis Perry and Ansley Almonor trying to guard SEC starters. (That is affirmatively not a knock on either). He could be an absolute weapon defensively against reserve guards.

  • Trent Noah reminds me of Gerald Fitch. Both guys end up with the ball in their hands way more than it should by always making the gritty play. Lowkey feathery strokes, too.
* I hope Stoops turns it around because I genuinely like him and he's clearly done more for this program than any other head coach before him. He's made us respectable and maybe raised fan expectations just a bit higher than was probably sustainable through some unicorns like Josh Allen, Lynn Bowden and Will Levis. He's also come a long way here. When he first got here we would routinely have too few men on the field (it was like 7 guys once). Now he's expected to win 8 games a year. Pretty remarkable, really.

I like the quiet approach this offseason. There is nothing to say. He will prove it on the field or he won't. Either way, I just hope the relationship between Stoops and the fans stays positive. He's a legend here and I hope he will be recognized as such if there is a necessary ending.

Also, in the NIL era, I think Vince going to UL is a net positive.

I already miss the short lived dislike button. And evidently quoting someone in mobile mode is impossible for me. 1 the ad at the bottom gets in the way and 2 the button is grayed out any ways.

Anyways this is my favorite Cold Play meme so far:
