Wouldn’t it cost more to go to bars to watch games than $100 for YouTube tv? Unless you just go and take up a seat and drink water.
Correct. I would pick choice games, not going to watch eastern Michigan in football or Georgia in basketball, just the big hitters.

Now that I know about the ESPN thing that would be much more likely.

My YTTV is $82 per month. I am not wasting my time going to a crowded bar, fighting thru drunk idiots, dirty *** bathrooms, terrible overpriced bar food, risk driving home from bar, to watch a game. My time and sanity is worth a hell of a lot more than $82. Not to mention I can chose the game I want to watch, not some BS game. Also, several very good football / basketball games will be available on non ESPN networks. A casual fan that may be OK, but a true football / basketball fan, a bar is not an option. $82, whoa boy, breaking the bank there.

Seems to me if you have the new ESPN app, plus Paramount & Peacock then you will be covered for a good majority of live sports. Covers the 3 major networks and ESPN sub channels.

I know Fox was initially going to be in the ESPN app but don't know how that shook out with the injunctions.

Hank, I don’t drink anymore, it’s definitely not an excuse to go to bars.

At some others,🤦 I’m not watching more than a few games. That’s kinda the point. I’m not spending 70 hours of my year watching Kentucky basketball games or 30 hours watching Kentucky football so yeah I’d rather take that $1000 of cable money and go somewhere for a few days. It’s not that I can’t afford it, it’s that I prioritize other ****.

Honestly, not that big of a sports fan anymore. If I watch anything it’s UK. I didn’t even watch our game against Tennessee on my birthday during the tourney, walked around downtown with the lady eating and enjoying the weather. I did sneak a score peak a couple times.

Watched exactly zero golf shots, zero innings of baseball, a few March college games, a couple halves of college football, and a few NBA playoff games since last college football season.

I don’t know the bars you visit, but the ones I happen to go to have great food, clean bathrooms, and aren’t crowded, that’s why I go to them. Specifically said I’m not going to a sports bar. Why would you go to a place that was like that? You don’t HAVE to go to BWs buddy.

I’d much rather spend that time outside doing something (like today I went and ran the stairs at the Publix parking garage for a half hour in 91 degree heat and rode my bike there to do it, that’s more fun to me than sitting inside watching a movie), can’t stand sitting on the couch watching tv, hence why I don’t have any streaming services besides prime and that’s because my Amazon prime account. I spend probably 8 hours a day or more on Spotify though between pods, books, and music. For example, it’s 8/7 and I’ve already hit my Spotify maximum audiobook time for the month.

Average American watches 3-4 hours of tv per day. Even if you only watch 2 hours per day, you’re spending 1 month of the entire year just watching tv. In 12 years you’ve spent a full year of your life just watching tv. If you live to be 84 you spent 7 years of your life just watching tv. Sorry but that makes sick.

Just here to help! 😊

Haven't been to ANY BW's in over 10 years.
Not shocked a dog walking, book reading, scoot scoot riding "dude" would not spend money on sports. Running stairs at Publix is wayyyyy more entertaining. Once again, do you, but trying way too hard.

Running stairs at you local grocery chain = way more exciting than watching the Masters or NCAA tournament. EVERYONE agrees. LOL, Even got more sophisticated and went from calling his girlfriend "gal to lady". Guess gal didn't sound as good.

- We’ve talked polos but who has the best quarter zip? I have a few and Peter Millar is the best, but have heard good things about Rhoback.

- Unlike a lot of these fair weather fans, I will be at the home opener. I’ve seen a lot of bad football in my life but I come back. Why? Because I have character, dammit.

- My main takeaway four episodes into the SEC football Netflix series is - as much as I hate to admit it- Billy Napier is pretty likable. Both his QBs last year - Mertz and Lagway - are too.

- I’ll say it- best Childers effort since Purgatory. Nice little rebound efforts from he and Sturgill in the past year. Isbell’s was probably as good as both.

- Can’t wait to see Pope coach these dudes.

- Went out to dinner for the wife’s 38tb birthday last weekend- she murked 3 martinis, fell and hurt her arm, made the Uber driver take us to Wendys and slept in til like 3pm. Sometimes it’s nice to see that side of her again. What a F’ing mess.

- Nanny is heading back to Lexington for school- her new house is 3 doors down from where my best buddies and cousin lived. Talk about feeling old.

- Still hot as a bastard but good “coffee on the deck in the morning” time of year. I’ll take it.

Buzzed randoms:

- Summer is by far my favorite season but this one has been brutal. The last few mornings have been very welcome

- This summer has been brutal in part because my semi-private golf club has become completely unplayable. I will never again play a 5 hour round watching 30 handicappers drive a cart 2 feet from the green on every hole while they blast whatever bro country artist is popular. Guilt about leaving my childhood stomping grounds has kept me 3 years too long

- Shane Gillis and dinner beforehand tomorrow. Need it

- I am as pessimistic as anyone about this football season but damn if my uncle didn’t send a group text out this week that has lit at least a little fire. His son and I are the same age, and some of the best memories of my life are my dad, uncle, and cousin loading up for our annual SEC trip. It just means more and such

- L L Bean still means something as a brand in this household

- “The Wide Wide Sea” by Hampton Sides about the last voyage of Captain Cook and “Say Nothing” about the troubles in Northern Ireland Ireland are recent purchases I hope to read on the porch with mild weather and stiff drink in the near future

-The end

Quarter zips, at work we get one, but have to buy any others. CFO decided on Peter Millar and sells them at 75% of what he pays. Good deal. They are quality. Also, have a vest for golf and wear for work, as well, to cover up any shirts that may have a cigar hole in them.

Semi-private golf- no such thing, that's called Groupon Golf

Congratulations on attending your first UK game in a decade. You'll love what they've done with the CWS renovations since your last visit.

I had a Nanny growing up. Of course she was my dad’s mom, not the girl down the street. That was my “babysitter” until I was old enough to stay home by myself.

speaking of sitters, the first real pair of bewbs I saw were my sitter. We had a pool and she loved using it. She was changing out of her two piece once when she “accidentally” let me see them. They were pretty small but It was glorious.

IMO the offense will be very good,,, well good. I think Calzone will be the best QB we have had since, well I don't know. Macklin will go for 1,000 yards and 8 TD's. Best I can predict for the Ole under talented Cayts. The biggest issue will be the "No Name" defense. Dudes playing LB are going to get their **** pushed in trying to go up against dudes 40-50 pounds heavier than they are. 215 pound LB's will NOT cut it in the SEC. "Just needs more". (weight)

Happy Sunday GYERO!
• Another lake day yesterday. That’s the fourth day that we’ve been out on our old pontoon this summer. Will probably reach 8-10 before the summer is over. I say this because I really need to make a decision on getting a newer one or not. I can get a good deal on one from my BIL/SIL, as they are set to get a new one, but that’s a big financial commitment for something that you use 8-10 times a year. Yes, I remember the rule of the three F’s.

• I’m starting to hope that this UK FB team can be one that is feisty and punches above their weight. I think that’s the best we can hope for at this point. Come on Stoops, MAKE IT HAPPEN! At least make yourself attractive for another job and let the Jon Sumrall era begin.

• Someone said a while back that GNR’s music hasn’t aged well. I get the sentiment, but a lot of it is due to the fact that 3 songs of theirs (Sweet Child O Mine, Paradise City and Welcome to the Jungle) have been played 5 million times a piece. I still contend that Appetite for Destruction is an all timer, regardless of genre, and is a true contender for greatest debut album of all time. There was close to an album’s worth of good music on Use Your Illusion 1&2. Lies was a solid EP. Knocking on Heaven’s Door Live at the Ritz 88 is incredibly good. I’ve seen it posted somewhere before that GNR, Doc Gooden and Mike Tyson belong in the same category. As good as anyone at their peak, but their peak was short. 🥲

• Rock On GYERO! Good to see the Clown back! I hope to see more of the OG’s start filtering back. This thread will be great once again.

• Almost forgot to mention— A huge economic week for the Bluegrass. All IPhone’s, and IWathches glass made at Corning in Harrodsburg and Uranium enrichment is coming back to USEC in Paducah. 😳

Well now we know he's not a sports fan since he didn't even watch our Sweet Sixteen game. No TV is the best decision for him.
-Call me crazy but I’d rather do something my woman and I both enjoy rather than subject her to 2.5 hours of something she couldn’t care less about, not that she wouldn’t do it for me happily. I think it’s just a more enjoyable way to spend an evening as a couple if she’s -3.8% invested in it.

-New Smyrna Beach weekend was pretty fun and super laid back. That is a pretty redneck town, in good ways and bad, when I’m accustomed to KW, Tampa, Thornton Park/Winter Park/Orlando, and SP. Lifted trucks as far as the eye could see and one of our servers had jeans and boots on in the 92 degree sun. That’s commitment.

Beach was across the street, bike rides, food, Ponce De Leon Lighthouse, saw Bob Ross’s studio in person which was really cool. Caught a sunrise Sunday morning over the water. 3 huge TVs, nary a one turned on except falling asleep to Step Brothers Friday night on the couch, no social media really except today when we got back and we were both nervous to see if anything transpired. Only texted the Moms and my dad a couple times.

I still have zero idea the appeal of driving on the beach, I will never get that. Enjoying the sounds of the waves crash, seagulls cawing, the breeze off the water with intermittent diesel engines driving past blaring Luke Combs, how peaceful….

The waves are cool for sure, but that’s all the Atlantic has over the Gulf. Great disconnect weekend overall, need those. Dog loved every minute of it.

-Physical Ability Test at an FD tomorrow here in Orlando then back to SP for an interview over in that area Tuesday. I am going to miss the not working life here soon…

-Could really get into Sprinter Van Conversion life or pull behind camper if done right. The lady and I would be both be in on that. Driving to a show or venue to see a band and a state/national park or two mixed in there seems amazing over a week or two.

-Off for a bike ride around the Thornton Park area. 90 degrees but better than being inside all day.

I can’t speak for New Smyrna Beach, as I’ve never been there, but if it can rival Panama City and Daytona for rednecks, it would be an achievement. Gulf beaches >>>>>>>>>> Atlantic beaches.
Would love to see a Sprinter conversion up close. Do they put toilets in these things?

Couple of weeks ago you didn't even want to drive out of the neighborhood, and now you want to trek across the country like Clark Griswold.

My point is ANY neighborhood that you have to drive to get out of is a no go for me. I don’t care if it’s a beachside neighborhood or one on a mountain, it’s not for me.

New Smyrna beach sucks and is full of sharks. Agree about gulf vs Atlantic beaches unless you’re surfer. One thing though is the Atlantic side doesn’t seem to get red tide, which has been a problem in recent years from Tampa south.

We planned a vacation in Miramar Beach back in 19, and days before we left I was hearing the words “Red Tide”. I had no idea what a red tide was. The moment I stepped out of the vehicle when we got there, I got a tingle in my throat and started coughing. It was a 1000x worse when you got on the beach. Two days later was a mandatory evacuation for Hurricane Michael.
If your beach destination is having a red tide, go ahead and cancel and go elsewhere.

- Decided to take my daughter to Rally House to grab her a new UK t-shirt for the game. She didn’t like any of the shirts and insists she wants to wear a Kentucky tutu. Wtf. Ok leaving this to mom.

- Being a GirlDad x2 is something else. We watch Mama Mia and/or Mama Mia 2 every day and I am coerced into some sort of dance party daily.

- Wife is at Nelly/JaRule tonight with her new mom friends from school. Just sent me a pic wearing a black Nelly flatbill and black JaRule tshirt.

- Saw a NineInch Nails bumper sticker today for the first time in 30 years.

- I hope we put up a fight this year for the sake of my respect for Stoops if nothing else.

I lived in Ponce Inlet by the Ponce lighthouse, just on the other side of the inlet from NSB. Its a weird place. They try to portray the laid back surfer, artsy, cultural lifestyle. But the local demographic just doesn't allow it.

Its nothing like PCB, lived there as well.

Great way for a relationship to work is to 100% always do what the "lady" wants to do,,, NOT. Wrapped, p- whipped, or any other term that shows she is 100% in control, will in fact lead her to wanting a "challenge", and will venture out to get it. It is great to be considerate of the other, but not 100% do things for them. TMFS. Been married over 30 years, I speak from a position of knowledge. And quite frankly, I would consider that to be pure hell IF I did that. "It Takes 2 to Make a Thing Go Right".
