MY Cardinals (STL) currently suck. UK FB currently sucks. My sports hopes lie squarely on the broad shoulders of Mark Pope. A promising, yet unproven ball coach.
Take us back to that 92-98 stretch please. 🙏

Matt Jones isn't even on this continent during the meat of our football schedule -- which was a smart decision.

The regular basketball season tipoffs for Kentucky on November 4. We play Tennessee Tech on November 15. Our basketball team is all but certain to get its next win before the football team.

Stoops gave us some great years while Calipari sucked, so I will always appreciate that. We are going 3-9 or 4-8 and Commonwealth will be empty. I guess we will see what happens with Stoops at the end of the year but I can't imagine that he can still be here next year if Barnhart wants to have any fans at all in the stands. Barnhart may not care, as long as the budget balances and the secondary sports are killing it or whatever.

No need for long winded counter arguments, firing Stoops now would be dumb.

OK St just fired a 20 yr coach who was 2 years from a 10-4 record and a 16th spot in the polls. He was 4 years from 12-2 and a 7 spot.

So no, it would not be dumb to get rid of this clown show which is a few years overdue. It would be the smartest move Mitch has made since hiring Pope.

Pittman had a $9 million buyout. Much more reasonable that the BS Mitch doctored up.

Barnhart is a pencil pushing nerd who is more concerned about financial and moral "success" than on-field success. He does not possess the cutthroat mentality that it takes to be an AD in the SEC. He is safe. He is vanilla. He is milquetoast. We are effed until he leaves.

Those guys flat gave up and it was obvious yesterday. The GA game this week will tell us a whole lot about where this teams heads are. If they lay down and get blown out it’s time to pull the plug.
I think Bush gets the ceremonial axing after UGA and we install Gran as OC for the rest of the year.

I just don’t see Mitch pulling the plug with the buyout this year. Attendance is down, but it’s not *that* far down. We still sold ~39k season tickets, only down about 3k from last year.

Next year, it gets nasty though.

You know, we only get to be alive ___ number of years…
Unlike Stoops buyout, which is due in 60 days if we elect that course of action. I've seen 90 days, too.

Either way, how did that happen? You would think that a beancounter who prioritizes financial flexibility would not agree to that term. I guess the best explanation is that Mitch has no thought of ever buying out a coach, that or someone didn't do a good enough job proofreading the contract.

**** integrity. I want a straight up take no prisoners @sshole for our next AD. Somebody that doesn't give a crap if people like him, as long as they WIN. Win at all costs. I'm not getting any younger here... Besides, any "ethics" that ever DID actually exist in college sports left before the automobile was mass-produced. Honor and "the right way" get you 3 and 9

I don’t care what a UNC fan thinks, how about you all fire that loser you hired.

Stoops is 2-2 this year and just lost with a RS FR as his starting QB in his first road start in the SEC.

That QB is a player and will absolutely get better unlike his very overwhelmed 8 minute stretch last night.

We can still beat Vandy, UL, UF but most importantly if Brad White is a real option I do not think the Sumrall fans really want to see him as interim with those games being winnable and it giving White a leg up as Head Coach.

I don't know the buyout number nor the terms of the contract, but everything is negotiable. Wouldn't there be a way to offer X% of the buyout (50-60% maybe) for an immediate amicable separation, wish him well, thank him for his accomplishments and spin things as positively as possible given the current mess... or go the route of "sure, stick around, get your money, but you'll be reassigned to the coaching booth refilling beverages or cleaning the premises while others do the actual coaching." The university could publicize its position and the priority being placed by a disgruntled employee on payouts versus what's best for the university that been more than patient with him.

I mean, if everyone feels hamstrung by the buyout, might as well openly admit it and try to do something about it.

I don’t know a thing about NIL or any of the behind the scenes shenanigans of modern college athletics. I do know that burning 35+ million to make a washed up, uninspired has-been go away before the season ends can’t be good for the 3-4 year future of the roster.

Barnhart is a decade behind the times and I feel like WE’RE JUST GETTING STARTED, BRO on hitting rock bottom. Sh*t is bad and it’s somehow going to get worse and stay that way until the end of the decade imo.

Go find someone who is fun and will make the product entertaining. Whoever that may be. Give me a gimmick. Give me something more than 13 points. If we’re going to lose, let’s lose 49-35 or something. Let’s throw on a Hawaiian shirt and get drunk and never punt. Whatever.

His contract auto renews for an additional year each season we go to a bowl game. Not much danger with 9 SEC games going forward but it did add additional years the past few years.
