One of my favorite games that I attended as a student at UK was IU game, 1993, in Freedom Hall. Mash & Ford each scored 29pts. Mashburn hit the game winner, a leaner from the baseline right in front of me. Booing Bobby Knight off the floor with a passion I didn’t know i had in me. I hated those IU teams of the past.

I say this because I am fairly positive this new generation of UK fans does not have the same hatred that most of us ITT do. C

I've pulled for IU ONE time in my life. I was at the 2002 South Regional when they beat Duke at Rupp. My friend (an IU fan) had lowers for the game.
I was at that game myself. Lived off Euclid by the Fishtank around that time.

I feel like that was a Friday game and we ended up partying like UK had won.

My wife is so cool, even though she doesn't let me sleep with other women.
We have pretty much convinced ourselves over the years that our Christmas present to each other is a vacation both of us enjoy.
No jewelry, no purses, no shoes. We go on a vacation and she can buy any of that other stuff the other 364 days.
FTW!!!
This is what we do. No way I want her trying to choose a gift for me. We would be divorced. I'm funding a long weekend at The Don Cesar for her birthday, which should be the price of a used expresso machine.

@ukalum01 thoughts on the Baker conflict of interest? That is not a fan boogeyman. That is just unreal nepotism, no matter how much they claim a Chinese wall. The fact that it took an obscene 15 year JMI deal and the basketball fiasco to come to public light does not change the fact that on its face it is an ethical violation in appearance, no matter much they try to ignore it.

The garbage JMI broadcasts and everything else let me know all I need about that company. I do, however, happen to believe that you are correct that Pope and not JMI are the cause of our recruiting woes, although those goofball cant help.

@Wayne Dougan sublime. :LOL:

KentuckyStout - I'm not going to debate this: we're not 8 or 9 years into the turning into IU cycle. That's balderdash.
I know man I’m just all pissy because I’m sick and tired of the way things are. Its going to take a long time to dig out of this.

lol at ‘balderdash’ :D

And there HAVE to be thorough disclosure requirements for conflict of interest / nepotism. I've been on non-profit Boards for companies who bring in as little as $1M annually, and they have stringent processes. There's no way such a policy doesn't exist at UK.

That said, the Board of Trustees must have been notified, which means they either approved it or looked the other way. The Trustees are fiduciaries. I just can't get over what they've allowed and have overseen the past 10 years.

The rot must even go over Mitch and Eli's heads. Again, a Pulitzer prize caliber investigation is just begging to be opened.

I think I will e-mail some reporters. If anyone has any suggestions on who might be a good fit to run with this, drop 'em, I'd appreciate it.

Hank, if you could get her a d*ldo with a length exceeding 3.5 inches (erect), she’d appreciate it. Thx on her behalf, your anticipated cooperation is appreciated.

I don’t really have any strong feelings towards Michigan but if Kenny Dillingham, who grew up in Arizona, went to Arizona State, and got his coaching start at Arizona State leaves the head coaching position at Arizona State for Michigan in actively cheering against him.

There are still some GYERO originals that post here, and try to keep the spirit of this thing around.

I get what you're saying, and yes, it isn't what it used to be, but I'm getting tired of the constant whining about the thread that was the backbone of the Paddock for over a generation.

The GYERO bashing has become far more tiresome and cliched than what is left of it. It is STILL due more respect than it's getting from the sackless peanut gallery that is piling on, now that a lot of the old guard aren't around to bash the interlopers.

So, in the oldest GYERO tradition of all, please go f**k yourself, and return to whining silently into your hair shirt.
I remember the first time I walked into the GYERO and ask a question, you guys put s beat down on me, when I crawled out I thought, man I'll never enter that room again!!!!

Please tell me that the question wasn't "What does GYERO stand for?" :ROFLMAO:

I honestly can't remember anyone (hardly) that didn't get crucified the first time they posted in here. Hell, I've been here since the beginning and I've probably taken more abuse than anyone. Almost ALL of it deserved, LOL When I got on Randall Cobb for crying after he cost UK a football game (can't remember which team it was) I thought 80 Proof was going to drive to my house and beat the brakes off of me. LOL

If you meet any of these guys in person, they're ***** cats. Except for Blind Karl Hess. That guy was an *******; ordering Wodie around at the tailgate etc. LOL Also, UKO humiliated himself trying to bong a beer. People had to look away because it was so awkward.

I only attended a few tailgates (before everything moved to Anth and Sloot's house, but the highlights were:

Wodie running from the cops/security in his meat wad costume and tearing a side mirror off a car by snagging it on said costume. (He was late for a wedding LOL)

80 proof urinating on and/or setting fire to an inflatable alligator (Florida game)

Meeting UKO (and his gold chain) who actually was decent guy in person, he just was, as I said, not up to 80's beer bong. That's not to dismiss the fact that he's extremely misguided on a LOT of things in the world of sports and music though. Completely unrefined in those areas.

cawood firing a beer into Anth's tailgate flatscreen that was setup in the rear of the blue tailgate van (I couldn't believe it broke, I mean he didn't put any "mustard" on it. It was more of a "gentle toss")

Bernie cooking deep-frying turkey while wearing a toilet seat around his neck (I think he was supposed be a turd)

Grumpy Blind Karl Hess annoying the sh*t out of BBdK

Not being able to convince BBdK that I WAS in fact Chester Marcol (my original handle. It got suspended because I misbehaved badly on the Louisville site, and the guy that ran their site raised such a stink that he demanded and GOT the lifetime ban/death penalty) Wodie was convinced that I was some fat/bald teamster or something, and I had to provide a lot details to prove my identity LOL.

Learning that PTI actually DOES constantly clear his throat, and him running around with an ape mask on.

Hank was at one of them as well, and dresses like a ranch hand.

And TCPChumps actually DID look like Nap Dynamite.

80, cawood, Anth and Sloot were probably the only people out of the group that seemed like genuinely nice people though. The rest of them were mostly dick heads. LOL

BBdK IS a blast to party with though. I'll give him that. A complete take no prisoners pro at it. LOL

The rest is a blur.

Over/Under on how many replays of The Shot we get tonight? Should at least be counter balanced by Sky Walker leaving Barkley in a crying heap on the floor in Nashville.

The pushing 60, keep GYERO alive, while the OG’s raise their families and hide their reputations. Man.

Century, I look at people who say they are 70 and I go WTF, I’m gonna look like that in 10 years? It’s a quick fall from grace.

JMU twitter enjoying the ride. I’m here for it but fear a blowout.

I was at the Blind Karl Hess tailgate. I think every known poster in gyero history was there that sunny September day. My thought was it was 2007? I was a mere 37 years old. Great times.

Never had to ask what does GYERO mean. Threads frequently truncated and vividly remember Chumps starting one up with the verbiage in his comment.

Just an FYI but you just said you ran naked in my house and called my house a mansion and that was your insult 😂 I think that puts a big bow on this convo

Obviously, gyero has slowed. That has to do with life and some with the new format. My wish for the old guard is a title in the next 13 years. In my opinion it’s one of the hardest titles in sports. Get #9 before the old guard is 75. Good health to you all and there is zero reason not to win tonight.
