Just want to say this place a cess pool right now. So many idiots posting in here. I’m a long time lurker and really enjoyed the smart takes in GYERO over the years. Sadly, 90% of that is gone now and even sadder, has been replaced with absolute dumbasses.

Sorry not to add anything of relevance myself but that was never my job. I just wanted to read good info. I’m afraid the transition ran off all the good posters, and it appears the inundation of retards has kept them away.

I’d love to plead for the good guys to return but they may have checked out completely from this place. Something perhaps I should do as well.

All I got.

There are still some GYERO originals that post here, and try to keep the spirit of this thing around.

I get what you're saying, and yes, it isn't what it used to be, but I'm getting tired of the constant whining about the thread that was the backbone of the Paddock for over a generation.

The GYERO bashing has become far more tiresome and cliched than what is left of it. It is STILL due more respect than it's getting from the sackless peanut gallery that is piling on, now that a lot of the old guard aren't around to bash the interlopers.

So, in the oldest GYERO tradition of all, please go f**k yourself, and return to whining silently into your hair shirt.

Hard to fathom there won’t be a mass exodus at the conclusion of this season
A few of these guys would probably trip into the door jamb on the way out the building if they walk as well as they airball shots.

If anyone wants to email JMI executives your thoughts on the situation, here you go: CEO is Erik Judson, [email protected], and President is Paul Archery, [email protected].

If you want to send Freedom of Information Act requests to UK for any topic, including the JMI contract or anything else, here are directions: https://legal.uky.edu/open-records

I will note that the twitter account of Rachel Newman Baker, the wife of the JMI executive, who is UK associate AD was made private yesterday and they took Barnhart's email address off the UK AD websites. What a poonany.

Rhodes as a JR averaged 12.9 and 3.8 with 3.5 assist a game. Oweh is 14.4 4.2 and 2.4 assist a game.

Both were better than that and self checked in different ways but for me both are levels of WTF that I don’t get, and I wasn’t happy then with Rhodes just like I’m thinking we’d be better without THIS version of Oweh that we’ve gotten.

Neither proved to be dependable leaders but hopefully Oweh turns it around.
Warts and all, Rod was still a first round NBA draft pick. He just played as if the world was on his shoulders….so I felt bad for the guy, because he was trying his best and not living up to expectations.

Conversely, Oweh, plays like he doesn’t give a shít….and, if he doesn’t get his head out his *** he won’t be a second round pick and be a career Euro player.

JMI/NIL has become the scapegoat for any and all athletic department failings. It's all nameless, faceless, etc and easy to blame. I don't know how the JMI/NIL process is really working... and I'm not sure that the writers of that article actually know much more (well... other than that unsourced agents want more money).

It seems like Pope's recruiting MO for the last 2 years has been to overpay for good players/depth and not overpay for elite talent. It looks like he's doing the same thing with this 3rd recruiting class. That looks like a Pope recruiting decision... not a lack of NIL/issue with how NIL is being administered.

Oweh's chance at retribution starts tomorrow. The IU series is back on. Wilkerson spurned UK and just dropped 44 with 10 triples their last game. Lock his *** up and get the W. Do that and many will mostly forgive the **** season thus far.

Speaking of IU, we need to constantly attack the rim. They have no inside presence and minimal depth. Put pressure on their guards and bigs relentlessly. Go to the foul line, get them in foul trouble. Only shoot threes if it's a kick out or under 5 on the shotclock. That's the path to victory.

I think we start to "get well" tomorrow against IU.
I think you’re optimistic and the “get well” is a bedtime story we’re telling ourselves. We very well may beat Indiana, because literally lord have mercy if we don’t.

Beating Indiana will make us feel better for about one afternoon, but it ain’t fixing this mess.

I remember probation well, it’s the only thing I can compare this to. We are in greater danger now than we ever were then - the reason is the leadership seems to be devoid of people with the means, with the will, or with the intent to protect the basketball dynasty, satisfied to watch it wallow in mediocrity for a full DECADE now. In addition, leadership is at odds with BBN and the relationship has become toxic.

We really aren’t “becoming” Indiana and we aren’t “becoming” UCLA. We’ve joined them already and UConn took our place.

Nobody want to read this giant emo ***** ****. We made it further in the tournament than IU has in the last ten years and beat more top 15 teams in a season than Indianas history just last year. **** off with we’re Indiana good lord some of you need to grow a sack.

I think we will be alight tomorrow night if we can somehow avoid going ten f’ing minutes without scoring and not let IU get every gd offensive rebound. That UNC game bothers me much more than the debacle in Nashville last Friday. Hopefully Mo is back for some more frontcourt muscle.

I might try to watch that 93 IU/UK game tonight. That might be the best college basketball game ever, at least reg season. An absolute war.

What I am not concerned about:
  • Having some misses in a single recruiting year (in even happened to Pitino and Cal)
  • Our finances regarding basketball in comparison to other teams.
  • Our will to right the ship.
  • Pope's ability to coach modern basketball.

What I am concerned about:
  • Pope's commitment to properly teaching defense and rebounding
  • Pope's "aw shucks; it's on me" approach.
Those last two he better effing figure out how to adjust ASAP. After the Tennessee Tech game, when they had the Unforgettables out there, each one of them talked about how Pitino DEMANDED the best from each player. He didn't let the players slack at all. Pope, by not holding these guys accountable - and in fact - taking responsibility on behalf the players for their failures - is absolute BS.

One of the more ruthless Pitino stories I allegedly remember is after we lost to UNC in 95, Pitino apparently ripped his team a new one in the locker after the game. Season was over and he was like "F you team, it's your fault we lost - not mine - and you're not going to do that to me again".

I need to see some of that from Pope. Hell, he was there so he better remember it.

1. UK has an inside presence?
2. Who is going to pressure their bigs? You watched any games this year?
3. You getting a new coach to adopt this mindset?

Let me help you....here is what is going to happen. UK will continue to shoot bad 3's, and make some; Pope will continue to think Noah is an SEC caliber player and that he has a bench of 26 players that all deserve time; substitution patterns will once again rival that of a junior pro kids league.

UK will probably win because they are at home, but it will be more of the same. These Cats aren't changing their spots.

Really and truly IU is only good when Wilkerson is hitting three’s, and his sidekick Devries gets going.

If Oweh can lock in on defense on Wilkerson we have a great shot. The only issue with this is opponents tend to catch fire in Rupp and that concerns me.

We are at least 15 or more years of persistent mediocrity (or worse) from sinking to the level of IU. And that will NOT happen at Kentucky.

We are about 8-9 years deep into it. That’s the truth and that’s what’s scary.

We have a president and an athletics director that were built in a lab to put us there.

KentuckyStout - I'm not going to debate this: we're not 8 or 9 years into the turning into IU cycle. That's balderdash.

Let's do a non-sports random:

GYERO husbands; what are you getting/or have already purchased for your wife, for Christmas?

Aside from spending most of the last year, getting myself back into fighting shape after letting myself get ridiculously disgusting (post retirement) I've purchased a 1 year gym membership for her. Can't wait to see the surprise and happiness on her face. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

That was a joke of course; I bought her a De-Longhi Revelia espresso machine. I'm not even going to say how much it set me back, but it went against every fiber of my being to order it. She's wanted one for years, and this one has interchangeable bean hoppers, ceramic burr grinder, milk frother, makes all manner of the ridiculous coffee drinks that she likes etc. commercial grade so I shouldn't have to return it in 6 months. Meanwhile, I'll still be using my electric percolator. And then probably drinking my low-brow black coffee while performing what I'm sure is a lengthy cleaning process on the espresso machine that cost more than the last brake job on my POS car. LOL

You know what white privilege is?

Romeo, a white man, kills himself over losing the love of his life and he's celebrated in the most famous play ever.

Sherrone Moore, a black man, merely threatens to kill himself over losing the love of his life and he's fired from his job and looking at 10 years in prison.

what I buy her every year: a massively overpriced piece of jewelry that requires about 15 seconds of thought but that she seems to think is a huge romantic gesture

The "we're becoming Indiana" trope is nearly as bad as the point shaving hypothesis. Indiana has 3 sweet sixteens since their loss in the national championship game in 2002. The also had 13 no-shows in that same span.

Kentucky is having a rough 4 year stretch (20-24) and a horrible single season. Get your heads out of your asses.

Much like Ron, expensive jewelry. I also grabbed one of those viral vibrating plates that aids in reducing muscle tension after workouts that I'm sure is snake oil, a Dyson car/boat vacuum because she treats her car like an apartment (well, the kids do) and a Dyson hair multi tool thing.

The boy got a go kart and I'm damn giddy about that.

Completely OK with this response. And it seems that we’ve had a few good takes and some calling out of the “woe is me sky is falling we’re Indiana” BS in the last few hours as well. Also a BBDK sighting. Thank you. Now bring back PTI, Chad, showkiller, SAE, and others and we’ll be back cooking with grease. Keep it up.
