We have somehow lucked into the perfect coach at the perfect time for this program. It barely feels real.

Scott Drew’s wife was scared of our fans.

Too Button looks around at who is left, and what do you know, a potential offensive genius, soon to be coaching super star, is
Ha that’s basically what it was I guess. Drew is a fine coach and all but it would have been super blah if he ended up at UK.

All’s well that ends well.

At $5.5 million a year, I thought UK overpaid for Pope.
I now realize it was borderline felony theft to get him at that price, he's worth double that easily.
Love my team, love my coach, and it's been way too long since I could say that.

Not going to speculate but I don’t think it’s an Achilles injury like some may insinuate. WCC Smell Test tells me he would be in a more protective environment and be “wrapped up” out of his uniform.

Without any medical training at all, I’m saying it’s probably a pretty severe calf strain.

Edit: I guess I did speculate. Sue me.

Ike looks exactly like Jaime Foxx's Wanda.

Few was a bit salty afterwards. Expected better from him. Thought he was a high road guy.

I keep thinking about how amazing that game was and how incredible it was to win it, then remember we did it without a PG, against possibly the best PG in the country. Mark F (frickin) Pope can coach.

- Incredible win. Like any true psycho, I was ready to write off the season in the first half.

- It was very similar to the Duke game overall. Other team comes out red hot, every ball is bouncing their way, and we look completely overmatched.. then we make a few adjustments and just wear them out in the second half.

- Probably the thing that has given me the greatest joy this season, in both this game and the Duke game, has been our relentless offensive execution down the stretch. How many times in a row did we score on them in crunch time last night? Just mercilessly getting into good actions and getting up good shots with our best players. There’s nothing else like it for me as a basketball fan.

- It’s all coaching. I am trying not to get too superlative. I’ll just say that we have a good coach.

- Carr balled out of his mind in both of our biggest wins of the year. That dude is a player and was obviously built for this system.

- Still not sure I understand why people get so mad at Williams. Dude is a bruiser with above average handles who plays great defense and rebounds the ball. He gives us a ton even when he’s not making shots.

- Think Brea has a bit of what I’ll call “Kellen Grady syndrome” right now where he’s just caught in between. He’s heard that he needs to get more shots, and he probably does, but he also knows he needs to take the right shots… so right now he’s sort of just pulling at the wrong time. This is a great time of year for this to happen, and certainly much better timing than when it afflicted Grady. He’ll figure it out.

- Best thing I can say about this team, and there’s a lot, is that they just keep playing.

Pope drew up a helluva play at end of regulation and left time for the second attempt by Brea.
It was so good that I think Oweh wasn’t expecting to be as open as he was. The lob still could’ve worked if Ike didn’t make a good play, but he probably could’ve gone hard to the rim and gotten fouled.

Didn’t really matter because we just out-executed them in OT. It was a great set though.

SMU getting in ahead of Bama is indefensible based on resumes, but sounds like it will happen. SMU would be 7-5, maybe 8-4 playing the SEC gauntlet.

They have beaten 0 ranked teams with losses to Boston College, BYU and Clemson. Each team was ranked at the time. If you wanted your chance to prove you belonged in the CFP, Mr. Lashlee, those were your 3 chances.

They are going to have to heavily modify the CFP or just wipe out conferences altogether or we will continue to get the BSU's of the world as top 4 seeds getting absolutely yard dicked by actual teams.

- Definetly not an Achilles injury, I promise he wouldn’t have gotten back and jumped then landed. Reading his talk he thought it was a cramp so a severe calf strain seems fair to speculate.

- I don’t hate Williams, but his body language screams unorthodox which is hard to watch for me as he positions himself to play weak by having his feet out of balance and his body turned what seems backwards, a lot.

- I never wrote the chance of winning off, of course it doesn’t really enter my mind when I just want to watch them play and learn.

I posted it last night and hate to repeat myself but Pope learned some stuff about his guys last night and let it ride. Maybe he was in a F it state of mind as he clearly admitted to thinking something needed done at Clemson and he was to indecisive or 2nd guessing to do it.

Kudos to having his back against the wall and start spitballing strategies and letting it play itself out. He’ll be wrong some surely, but naturally that MFer knows ball so let it go.

- Not saying this team has the potential of 96, but that win felt as intense and as big as the loss to UMass did that season. I’m sure I could think of a few other early season games too, but with Pope/Cal connection here I am.

- If Kerr is ever in a position to guard Ziegler or Sears after what we saw from Oweh I’ll be very frustrated immediately.

- That Robinson, Oweh and Brea combo up top was nasty and we rode it the final 6-7 minutes which was just beautiful.

- 10pm is too late to start a damn basketball game. F the west coast.

How many times in a row did we score on them in crunch time last night?

From 6:11 to the end of the game (down 63-66 at that point:
- Oweh made jumper
- Almonor FTs
- Robinson made layup
- Williams dunk
- Robinson made jumper
- Williams FTs
- Robinson FTs
- Robinson made jumper
- Carr made jumper
- Brea missed jumper (end of regulation)
- Oweh dunk
- Williams dunk
- Williams made turnaround jumper
- Oweh FTs
- Oweh missed jumper
- Brea missed jumper
- Carr made jumper
- Robinson made jumper
- Carr FTs

So we made a bucket or got fouled on 9/10 of our last possessions in regulation and 7/9 in OT, or 16/19 overall in crunch time.

That is elite.

Baby and I both passed out when Cats were down 16. I expected a loss and was dreading the overnight wakeups. But then baby woke up to eat just in time to catch the end of OT (and didn’t wild out the rest of the night!!) Superb timing, kiddo 🙌🏻

Watching the replay now and holy hell, I forgot how amazing halftime adjustments feel. What a ballsy bunch of Cats. I knew Pope was a basketball savant, but I never expected him to dogwalk a coach like Few this way. No idea how far this team can go, but for the first time in a long time, I’m enjoying every second of the ride. Pope has brought us wins, but more importantly, he’s given us the JOY back.

Final note: Old Gregg > Gonzaga Gregg. I’ll take my Baileys out of a shoe, thanks very much.

Wait a minute...

Do you mean to tell me that a basketball coach can switch up the defense and call plays on offense during the game that cut down on the other team's scoring and cause our team to score more?

What a concept! It's like we discovered a cheat code!

WTF were we paying that other fat bastard nine and a half million for exactly?

Big 10 getting 4 teams in while SEC gets 3 is going to be the catalyst for CFB breaking away from the NCAA and the whole current set up IMO.

Penn State basically got two byes to the quarters

Said essentially the same in a side text last night. Always respected him and thought he was one of the “nice guys.” Turns out he’s actually a little *****.

A lot more light on the Zags given their national prominence over last 10 years. Expectations heightened and he is not handling well. Probably wearing on him.
