* The dropoff from Amari Williams to Brandon Garrison is absolutely profound.
* Repeating a variation of a previous post: we've got 4 games left: 2 very winnable, and 2 against top-25 opponents. Then the SEC Tourney. The first NCAA Tourney game is 3+ weeks away. For Carr, Butler, and Robinson, I think they should sit as long as they need to get healthy, up to the 1st game of the Big Dance. I don't want to keep pushing these guys out there at 65% just to try to make a run at a 3-seed. If we finish out 2-2, do nothing in the SEC, and end up with a 5, then so be it. I'll take that at full strength (or as close as you can get to it) over a 3 still while still hobbling.
* Some highlights and lowlights of the weekend.....
- just a great time getting together with the bros. i think the real bonus was doing, well, basically NOTHING. no itinerary, no agenda, no tours or plans or reservations or appointments.
- sooooo many pajamas this weekend. don't think wcc or drxman ever left theirs.
- 73 was the real mvp, imo. came all the way in from california, and most of us hadn't seem him in years.
- backup mvp was 80 Proof, who rarely left the kitchen. lots of meat consumed.
- least likely to ever get invited: chief, UKO, cincycooper, brudjazz, rainman.
- Geese showin' out on the bourb selection. Home court advantage, imho.
- what a great group of dudes.
- Maverick was shown "only" twice. Probably could have left it on repeat all weekend and made most of the crew happy.
* Hubert Davis gets an extension.
* Starting today, there's 8 straight days of Mardi Gras parades. No less than 3 in any given day.
* King cake is really a "thing" down here. I picked up 2 from Joe's Donuts (just a very ordinary coffee and donut shop) for the trip. If you go anywhere for a cookout/party/client meeting/etc around Mardi Gras, you have to bring one along. And if you walk in with a Dong Phuong or Manny Randazzo's, you marcus welby showing up at your friends house for dinner with a bottle of Pappy ready to rip thru the whole thing. Just pure stunting. Problem is, landing one of those usually involves waiting in line for an hour +. So Joe's it is.
My lass, as I was leaving the house Thursday morning: "don't you dare go back to Kentucky with some ***** *** king cake for your friends."
I slow rolled it. Brought one out Thursday night. The other on Saturday night. Both were gone in < 5 minutes.
* Elly made an out yesterday.
* My dog, she kicked it.
