The inmates leaving the message To Easy LoL above the hole in the wall is 😂.

* Pope visited Arlington National Cemetery on Memorial Day after doing some tornado relief in London last week.

Dude is killing it. He's like sorta-cool Ned Flanders.

* Oweh should wait until 11:59 pm tomorrow to withdraw just in case but if he wanted to solidify his status as my favorite Wildcat in a while, a nice announcement this afternoon would be perfect.

* This is perfect napping weather. Getting back in the work groove this morning is a struggle.

He makes the league minimum and doesn’t hit free agency until 2031. You think the cheapskate owner is going to replace him with someone more expensive?
Sorry, somehow missed this until today.

Although I generally think of myself as a pretty smart person, this is where I’m admittedly a little ignorant (I generally just enjoy being a spectator and don’t dig too much into numbers, contracts, etc.). Until seeing your comment, I was only previously aware that a longterm deal fell through between him and the team earlier this season and just figured he was out the door next year (I think something in the neighborhood of 5 years, $70M is what I remember).

With your comment, and just to make sure I’m understanding correctly, if Ricketts, Jed, and company just keep balking and not paying him what he wants, is he literally just essentially screwed until he’s eligible for arbitration or free agency, making him and everyone else miserable, and forcing him to reluctantly just keep playing for the league minimum?

I’ll be the first to say that baseball contracts have gotten pretty ridiculous and maybe something should be done to rein in the 10+ years, hundreds of millions deals, but that also seems pretty messed up.

I'm not sure what the story is/was behind the Tim Dillon interview, as I don't watch his show or know much about him at all, but it was truly amazing. Like, the whole aura of that sit down was to dig into how podcasting is taking over for traditional media. And CNN just inexplicably sends the very worst person they can possibly find. Seriously, how in THE F*** is that chick on television??

She's like a parody of NPR.

She came in with her own myopic views and he talked to her like she was a small child (which she kind of is).

"My legacy media network sent me here to investigate why people like you - we'll call you "the manosphere" - have such power and were able to convince everyone to not vote for Harris / Walz." 😆

She appeared unable to think her way out of that box, even with Dillon's help.

When it comes to the Ricketts, you have to assume they will go the cheap, not best for the club, but best for their personal pocketbook approach to PCA and several of the other young Cuba stars as its time to renegotiate contracts. Spending money on anything other that acquiring more real estate around the Wrigley neighborhood seemingly is all they care about. Fu*k The Ricketts!

I get there are budgets to manage, but when you have a young stud of that caliber, you sign that MFer long term and make him the face of the franchise. It ain't rocket science.

Buying out the rookie deal is a process and takes time. He didn’t exactly crush it before this season when he came up previously.

Giving PCA a 7yr 90M contract is cheap at this point.

Yeah, I did look back a couple of months ago when he started making noise and saw his relatively lackluster debut and bring up with the Mets.

And I get what you’re saying in light of some of these deals you hear about these days, but (again, from my ignorant standpoint), that just seems insane to me; 7 years, $90M 😂.

It's more complicated than this, but basically MLB players have to be in the league for 6 years before hitting free agency. Before that, they are often significantly underpaid versus their open market value. Pete Crow Armstrong actually makes the league minimum, for example. And won't be a free agent until 2031.

It's bizarre to me how quickly fans can criticize their owners for not spending enough money, but refuse to credit them for making great decisions like this one. PCA was traded for Javier Baez, who makes $24 million/year to be a league average player at best, and somebody named Trevor Williams, who makes $7 million/year. If spending money was the solution, why don't you just reverse that trade?

Which is exactly what Theo did with the Red Sox & Cubs. Drafted well and used the big money on pitching.

Problem is most guys, maybe due to their agent, for obvious reasons want to hit the FA market when they are in their prime instead giving a “hometown discount”. This is in no way me taking up for the Rickett’s being cheapskates and being more worried about the real estate around Wrigley as opposed to the product inside it. They got their WS now all they are doing is counting their money.

She's a former correspondent from Vice TV (the Canada-based news program that got popular 15 or 20 years ago or so for their videos in North Korea, I think).

Vice folded a few years ago, and CNN hired a couple of their young women correspondents.

Everyone I know who follows the Reds agrees Elly hasn’t been bad this year, but hasn’t been great. Pretty boring season thus far. Just kind of “meh.”

Hitting .250, and on pace for 30+ home runs, 50+ stolen bases, 120 rbi, 120 runs, and had the longest hitting streak of his career this year. He’s 23 years old.

What a dude.

Your taxes just went up in Fayette county with the usual school board vote of 3-2 on everything. Only 2 members with a backbone tried to ask questions and table the vote for further discussion. Enjoy the extra $ coming out of your pockets and go ahead and plan they will need more $ from you next year.

Totally get your point when you explain it that way. But wasn’t the Javy deal kind of the exception with Tom (and I guess more Jed, to that point)? Again, I don’t really dig deep on this stuff, but it seems like they got more lucky than it being a brilliant, premeditated move.

Which, ****, I don’t know, I guess you can somewhat say about all sports moves/trades that work out to some extent.

Did bucket or some other runoff come back just to create a new account and troll everyone with this FCPS schtick?

I have some fond childhood memories of the family gathering around the tv to watch the SEC Game of the Week on Wednesday nights, which consisted of UK playing about 90% of the time it seemed. Some Tom Hammond and Joe Dean (or Larry Conley) and ten SEC teams again sounds like an enjoyable night.

~ Apparently I have turned into a Kentucky baseball fan. Really enjoyed watching them the last couple of years. Had their games on in the background this year at night when I worked late. Spent a couple of hours last night watching YouTube breakdowns of the NCAA Baseball tournament (yeah I'm not proud of it). That community is somewhat miffed that UK made the tournament instead of UConn. Oh well.

~ You know you're an old when little things like watching TikTok while driving home after work is your escape. The feed has been inundated with a lot of Brooke and Jubal Second Date Updates. I feel like that has to be scripted but I never scroll past them. Was surprised to find out that show was cancelled 5 years ago. Wasn't surprised Jubal was fired.

~ Pulling for the Knicks partly because of KAT but mainly because of BKH.

~ Recently discovered that Peacock has the UK version of The Office. Binge watched it and while I realize the American version was based loosely on it, it pisses me off that they blatantly ripped off characters and storylines and in some cases, dialogue. American version was still funnier but it gets some side eye from me now.

~ Going to the chapel soon. Will be in Teriecat's family (non accountant sloots).

~ It seems unfathomable to me that of all the rappers though all the decades, the only one to really land a solid body blow to Eminem was MGK and now....yeesh. Come get your boy Waka.

~ One more reflection and then I'll go...Rube's speech to Willie ( and the team) in Major League 2 is highly underrated. Right up there with the Kurt Russell speech in Miracle. Don't think anyone is @'ing anymore but just in case, don't.

- With a W today the cubs finish 1/3 of the season up 14 games. Truly amazing after Steele went down, but the STL Cardinals are hot on their tail so we’ll see,

- With this collapse, mostly defensively, the NY Knicks will strongly be going after Yannis.

- OKC vs Pacers in the finals?🤮 Ratings wise, but actually will be a helluva a series for basketball fans.

- Happy for UK making another run in baseball although I didn’t think they were near as good as previous seasons. I love the coaches strategy to the game.

- 8YO baseball season has been rough. 3-5 with 80% practices being rained out, and 4 games rained out as well.

He was voted to all stars which I hope boost his spirits some playing with better overall players.

Time for kid pitch which is what he’s wanted to do since striking out his older brothers in wiffle ball.

- As far as Oweh goes and this season, well I’m not so sure we aren’t better off if he goes pro.

I love the kid, but will he really be better than what we saw last year with the limitations he has? And on this team that is so deep will he even get the minutes to showcase?

I assume he will be back and I’ll be happy, but we are so damn deep I’m just not sold we “need” anyone.

My son has some sort of dance move he does every time he scores a run in baseball. Yesterday was the gritty, but he's usually more original. Really plays to the crowd. Since it's pitching machine baseball I told our coach to hit him the next time he does it when we're down 8 runs.

His other move he's been working on is a spin move on his throws. So imagine you're Elly De La Cruz and the ball gets hit up the middle and you catch it deep on your glove side, so you spin around on your throw to first. That move blew my son's mind, so he's been working on it. Problem is, he started doing that move on any routine grounder to his left when he's playing short. As a baseball purist I'm having real issues with this boy.

Oweh would be preseason SEC player of the year and a first team All American. He’d play about 28 minutes a game like last year and him not being here (if we’re unable to to get a viable replacement) takes us from being in the Top 5 to about a Top 15-20 team.

Since his brother made 11 million in the NFL this year, the family isn’t hurting for money so it may be more important to them for him to start his NBA clock this year. He turns 22 next month and could have a 2nd round guarantee that he’s willing to take.

Half of the 2nd rounders got guaranteed deals last year (some were two year deals). The difference this year would be a couple of million but he may be looking at this as the right thing to do long term. He might think it’s the right time to go to the league to be able to possibly get a 2nd contract.

Having said all of that, I think he’ll ultimately be back though. More $ next year and a shot to get in the 1st round next year.

I did that once on a ball hit up the middle. Gloved it going to my left, spun around and fired a bullet to first….only to hit the runner square in the side of the face as he was running through the bag. He dropped like a sack of potatoes. I don’t suggest it.

Yeah, no need to have an upperclassman who is familiar with the system return. It’s only what we have bitching about not happening for the last decade. I’ll be tickled if Oweh comes back and just sits the bench since it’s so deep.

My fellow Cubs fans, it is only days away from June and we all know what that means. Beware the Swoon, it’s a real thing.

Little lass is off to 4H camp this week. She really wants to get some mail. Like it’s the most important thing ever. I remember Camp John Curie being both the most miserable and the most awesome week as a kid. The food sucked, our counselors were sort of jerks, and none of us were all that interested in showering together in a community shower at 11-12 yo. However we got to fish, shoot guns and bows, play basketball & softball and just hang out with our buddies all week. Our “Calvert City Cabin” dominated the courts, in fact I’m fairly certain they still talk about us to this day.

Murray State basketball camp week was a whole other story. That was the life. Staying in the dorms, rooming with your best bud for the week, playing ball all day, being idiots at night. Man that was our “Stand by Me” if you will. One year Pervis “Never Nervous” Ellison was the guest speaker. A bunch of us booed him mercilessly after his motivational “speech”. Bringing in a UL guy, sheeit, not the best idea even if they had just won the NCAA’s.

Everyday between 11-1 I take a nap. Usually I set an alarm for 30 minutes, lay back in my Lazy Boy, and snooze. Some days I forego the alarm and just sleep. As a kid I hated naps but as I grow older I look forward to it. Sort of cranky if I don’t get one.

I also eat breakfast at the same local establishment every morning and I can’t really figure out all of the new technology. I’m only a short few years away from crapping my pants and forgetting my name. Can’t wait!
