- My Colorado thoughts:
* Denver - meh, it’s fine
* Boulder- absolutely gorgeous and would be a wonderful place to live at any point in one’s life
* Ft. Collins- chill, charming and seems like a great place to raise a family, very Americana
*Estes Park- stunning but a tourist trap
* Leadville- magnet for degenerates
- I’ve never gotten hiking - “oh so you like walking in the woods?” If I were mountain adjacent, I could see the pull of fly fishing though. Seems like nirvana. And of course, ski culture is great.
- My 17-month old daughter is absolutely insane. Second children, man. God help me. God help us all.
- Rocking my UK gear of course- and encountered a Duke couple. I was nice. It was difficult. Didnt want to ruin my niece’s birthday party. They were from the triangle. Only reason I didn’t make a snide remark.
- My brothers-in-law are of course gay. Remarkable how much they love Ariana Grande. Big on Kelly Clarkson, Gaga and Taylor Swift too. Always learn a lot hanging out with them.
- Best part of the visit is my oldest daughter hanging out with her cousin who’s 9 months older. They love each other so much. Bicker a lot like sisters but my girl is already sad to leave. The cousin relationship is a special one. I was lucky to have 23 cousins. My daughter only has one near her in age (although she has plenty of third cousins).

-Darky & Heavy Swamp Blues and CottageCore been heavy in the rotation lately on Spotify. Not sure if it’s the Florida in me or what but been digging it. St. Paul & The Broken Bones, Black Joe Lewis, Honey Hounds, etc.
I’ve been a pretty big Wallen fan in the past, but I think his new album is pure ****. Sounds like every other pop country singer now. He’s literally the guys’ version of Taylor Swift now, it’s true and you know it, don’t @me (with respect to @WCC of course, no offense buddy).
Quit listening to the album quickly. Charley Crockett and the like are way better.
-After living in “Florida”/Key West (yall didn’t forget did you? There’s your reminder
) which isn’t really Florida to be honest, it’s crazy just driving a hair out of St Pete/Pinellas County and it’s pure swamp everywhere. Charming but not for me except to visit.
-Finished the Power of the Dog trilogy by Don Wilson, think of Narcos but better. Great, great stuff if you’re into cartels and how the US govt funds them (weapons & cash) and the prisons here (private prisons are passive income for the wealthy basically) to make money on both ends. Pretty gross tbh.
Embarrassingly have one of 80s books I borrowed a year ago (borrowed two the other has been returned) that hasn’t been returned.
On to Rough Sleepers, true story about homeless people, a doctor and a bunch of nurses working for 1/2 pay, compared to a hospital, in Boston trying to just be, you know, good people. Wild idea these days.
All you people happy about cutting these people off from Medicaid and food benefits can EAD, you CAN @me in real life about that. Walk around in my shoes for a week and see if it changes your mind.
Also reading The Little Prince, the parents here may be familiar with this one. It’s actually a children’s book/novel but super cute and life lessons abound in simple prose. Highly recommend for the parents.

I’m not on food stamps, you dunce you. But I volunteer at St. Paul de Vincent CARES program feeding homeless people 1-2x/week.
I actually did receive an EBT card during Covid. My roommate applied for it and had to put down both our names and I received one without asking for it. Nothing but lobster and lotto tickets that month for this guy. <—that’s sarcasm before someone gets upset. I actually got a job doing construction during Covid after a month.

I was making fun of those that do as it looked like they were losing their life's work, but alas they are back at the mindless drivel.
