Has there ever been a highly successful coach that had a son that was as or more successful than their Dad? There's been things like the Stoops' Dad being a high school coach or Belichick's Dad was an assistant at Navy for years but the only one I can think of, but apple's to apple's, is Tony Bennett had a better career than Dick.
What about a really sh!tty coach who's son is even shittier? Like the Callahans.

Any of the many lawyers in here want to take up a construction (garage) contract case? I’ve needed an attorney once in my life for a divorce, so would prefer not to go to the yellow pages.

If none of the legal leaches in here are interested, hit me up and I can give you a couple of recommendations.

Shorts:

- Rare outstanding Friday night for sports with the Reds and this FSU-Virginia game.

- Speaking of, Virginia is my in hindsight out of state dream school. Love that part of the country. Charlottesville is great.

- As 23 years of GYERO posting can tell you- I’m no golfball … BUT the Ryder Cup is one of the greatest events in sports. Love how pumped golf fans get. Love how the pros treat it. Love the time of year and atmosphere. Love the format. My golfhead college roomie interviewed it to me in 1999 with Friday morning eggs and Beast Lite and I’ve loved it ever since. Just outstanding…besides the States routinely getting boatraced.

- College basketball nepotism is bad but it’s nothing compared to football nepotism.

- J. Kyle Mann is a Kentucky treasure and quite possibly the best hybrid college/NBA analyst around.

- What a time of year. Bourbon szn. Beer szn. Football szn. College basketball recruiting szn. Bratwurst szn.

- For a guy who’s transitioned from a baseball diehard to a baseball casual, the biggest change for me has been the batting averages. Hitting.270 today makes you Tony Gwynn.

- Cats win 35 games this year and Pope enters the elite of college coaching. Write it down.

Speaking of Tony Gwynn and elite batting champions. Aaron Judge is doing stuff last seen by Babe Ruth and Ted Williams. That’s the list.

And for those who want a chubby, honk catcher for AL MVP, get pumped. The MVP is more than a Home Run Derby. Understood that it’s rarified air for a catcher to produce such numbers… but batting 80 points higher (and a ton of IBBs) have to account for something.

Don’t forget Albert Pujols. Look up his first 11 seasons in STL and get back with me. I agree, Judge clearly deserves the nod over Raleigh. I’m old school, .247 matters.

Homers and RBI are the 2 most important stats IMO. Also, look at the players hitting behind Judge. Power hitters have 2 jobs, hit homers and drive in runs. If he is driving in runs, average doesn't really matter, guys before are the ones who need to hit for average and get on base and let the power hitter drive them in. Not saying Raleigh is better than Judge at all, but for what their job is, he has done a better job. Also, how is Judge in the field ??? Jude has a - DWAR, Raleigh a +. Judge ranked 22nd among RF's in the AL, Raleigh 8th among catchers in the field. For their respective teams, Raleigh is clearly the MVP. Take Raleigh off his team and Judge off his, who wins more games ?

Beating USCjr. on the road, and instilling false hope back into UK Football, and opening the door to a season JUST mediocre enough to justify keeping him around for another year would be the most Stoops thing ever.

I'm with legalbeagle123, it's happening.

Not saying Judge doesn’t deserve MVP because he absolutely does, however a case is to be made without him the Yanks are still contending.

Without Cal Raleigh the M’s are absolute dog **** and that isn’t arguable.

So depending on how someone votes that is THE only case for Raleigh over Judge.

Oh you silly man. That lump sum payout means he’s going nowhere. To pay that out and then turn around and pay a new staff is not the Bengal, I mean Kentucky, way.
lastly, that great contract Stoops signed, is now the bar for the next mediocre coach we hire.
Its a cycle of stupidity.

I too feel one of those surprise Stoops wins today. It does give me pause, that many others are feeling it too.
As a fan, you want to win them all of course, but in reality, the only way UK FB sees a much needed change at the top, is that we go 3-9, 4-8, and Stoops, just to save face, agrees to a reduced or a lengthened buyout. Not an ideal position to be in for the University or fans. Thanks Mitch!
Anyway——— BEAT THE CAWKS!!!

It's MVP, not best hitter. I'm admittedly biased, but Raleigh is doing something that no other catcher has ever done while playing an infinitely more difficult position on the other side of the ball. If Raleigh somehow manages three homeruns in the final two games, the voters are going to give it to him for that alone. Put it this way, if Raleigh were in pinstripes, this wouldn't be a conversation.

Uh oh, looks like Louisville is playing their first team with a pulse and getting punched in the mouth. They'll figure it out, I'm sure, but this team has coasted on ******** with their trashcan conference.
